Aged 18 I had every intention of touring on my Z1300. Now 56 I am still planning to tour on a bike. Take my advice, go touring this year or like me you'll be in your fifties and still waiting....don't let life get in your way....
Thinking of getting this as my first 'big' bike (currently on a KTM RC125). Very excited. My 125 is a great machine but does struggle a lot with inclines - hence the upgrade.
Cool bike ! I love Kawasaki. I ride a old school style bike but I love it . I ride a 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R . Still runs great after 48,000 miles especially after I got it properly jetted with a growling pipe on it , not too loud just perfect. But if I ever get a sport tourer the Z1000 is high on my list especially if the Concours 14 might feel too big.
Top tip about your rusty chain from another Z1000SX owner. I've tried a variety of aerosol chain lubes on my bikes and found they offer little or no rust protection. Most are tacky which attracts grit turning them into grinding compound. Clean the chain with paraffin on a brush and dry as much as possible. Then brush sparingly with EP 80/90 gear oil and wipe off the excess with a rag. Don't forget to coat the sides. It's mon sticky, waterproof, won't effect the X rings, prevents rust and won't fling as long as the excess is removed. Do this every 200 miles or so. Alternatively, fit a 'Tutoro' automatic chain oiling system. Look on youtube for reviews.
My chain was showing rust on the side plates 3 days after the shop delivered the bike in a van to the house. It's kept in a dry garage and I didn't ride it for another week. I don't know what chain lube/wax Kawasaki use, only that it's sticky and rubbish. Other than this minor issue, the bikes are a very capable all rounder and I love mine to bits. Enjoy yours !!
Got 2019 model and absolutely love it, can’t find anything to complain about yet , looked at tracer gt but this suited me better and got a fantastic deal from local dealer, good videos, ride safe fella
Northumbria Rider the standard seat is ok at best, I have a Sargent at the moment and it’s miles better if you’re riding more than a n hour, I have also just got a Tony Archer seat that I’m trying this weekend, other than that it’s an amazing bike
Nice Video, Only two drawbacks I found after a test ride -> 1. after 170 kmph there are considerable vibrations on foot pegs and handlebars. 2. The digital display is very difficult to read out.
shashi bhushan I must admit I really didn’t see it as an issue however I did have a set of Oxford heated grips fitted which I have heard remove almost all vibration to hands. Didn’t cause me any issues. Ride safe buddy.
Hi Darren I agree that the above are annoying but for me just wasn't a reason not to get the bike. I have a throttle assist for the cruise control and on the r1200gsa i has previous i never used it anyway, the heated grips came with the bike and worked better than any factory ones i have ever had, never had any major issue with the screen (i do live in the uk) and as a fun only toy servicing never caused me an issue. I guess it's all personal i suppose.
Hi, first video of yours that I’ve viewed, just subscribed, cheers for your review of Z1000SX. Am looking at changing my Street Triple for something a bit bigger and the Z1000SX is on my list to test ride. Also thinking of the MT10 and Supersport S. have you tried these other two and if so how did they compare against the Z?
Hi Chris, Thanks for the comment and subscription. I trid the MT 10 as I had an MT 09 previously but the chest wind was stealing some of the enjoyment for me. The supersport S was too skinny, try it and you will se what I mean. In my opinion the Z1000sx is only outdone by the H2 SX which is on the list next lol. Ride safe buddy and thanks again.
Cheers for that, much appreciated. One of the reasons I’m getting rid of the Street Triple is it’s hard work on motorways / dual carriageways and I want something that’s just as exciting on the twisties but also enjoyable on the motorways. I’ll take your advice and get a test ride booked. Cheers again, safe riding 👍
@@christaylor491 Have you bought your new bike yet? If not; don't forget the gsx-s1000f for your list. 40lbs lighter, 20 hp more power, brembos, less vibration. Downsides: less than amazing looking from the front. On - off throttle snatchy on the the pre 2019 bikes. (Of course a simple flash tune would fix this, and many/most new bikes need it.) Worth a cross shop to the bikes you listed I reckon.
kleinbottled79 hi, yes went for a new SX and so far no regrets. Awesome machine, such a smooth engine and bags of power. Looks fab in green, can’t recommend it enough.
Hi mate, picked up a new SX in green on the weekend (your vids helped with my choice...so thanks) and after a weekend of riding my only negative is the seat. I notice you’ve added a gel seat to yours, can you give more info on this please as I need to fix the numb arse syndrome ASAP! 👍
HI Chris, The gel seat was a topper made by a DanMedia - www.danmedicasouth.co.uk/motorcycle-seat-pads/. I did find the gel gave a strange moving feeling which i really struggled with so in the end bit the bullet and brought a sargent seat which solved the issue. If you can mate get a sarget it will be cheaper in the long run. Ride safe buddy and thank you for watching the vids.
Great vid👍I'm moving on from a 2013 Street triple R, concidering 2017 1000sx or Honda Vfr800 2014, not yet rode either but would be intrested to know why the vfr didn't do it for you?? 🤷♂️
Justin Levison hi Buddy thanks for the watch. The VFR felt like old tech and was very slim due to the engine. Felt a little cheap to be honest. I fell in love with the slightly old school styling of the kwak and in my opinion unless your are spending 15k this is the best bike on the market.
Definitely agree. Plus the SX has way more go! Only had mine a month but it's already the best all around bike I've ever ridden. 2017 model get the orange 😉
I took a 2018 z1000sx out for a test ride and absolutely loved the machine apart from the fact that the digital display on the dash is almost impossible to read in bright sunlight and apparently there are no intentions for changing it for the 2019 model....any thoughts?
I have the 2018 model...I thought the same. also some of the digital info on there is a bit on the small side... but It might be my eyesight isn't as sharper as it used to be as I'm approaching 50.
@@noveltycurtains it has been changed with the 2019 models.. now the display is much better in sunlight. I own a 2017 model and i think this is a good change. With the black display it was a pain to read the numbers sometimes
Hi Vish, I suffer from bad neck and shoulder pain so cant do the hunched over sports bike. I find the position really comfy. I had one for an extended test ride from a dealer before i brought it and just did 100 miles to see. Cracking bike!!! Ride safe fella
Hi Buddy, Unfortunately due to. change in circumstances the bike had to go. I am absolutely gutted as a fantastic machine which value for money wise takes some beating!!!!!. Thanks for the watch mate and ride safe.
Hi I have big problem to buy my next bike I like kawi z100 sx and yamaha tracer 900 gt I dont know wich one is the best. I ridden both bike And I am 50-50 🙈🙈
Hi. Thanks for watching. I also rode the tracer and for me the z1000 was just a more versatile bike. I loved the engine on the tracer but the build quality definatly felt cheaper. Ride safe buddy.
Down4First thanks mate I like right riding position on tracer and crosier ,Centre stand and heated grip ... but like kawi smooth engine bocsh ECU handling and look. Thanks fore all my fiend big fun 🤝🤝👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻💪🏻
