Great stuff. I didnt use as much as recommended by seafoam, but my 89 f150 5.0 kept giving me misfire like fits in extreme cold. I figured it had something to do with the intake temp sensor or the idle control valve. When I pulled the intake tubes off, I saw access to the idle air control valve, so I hit it with the seafoam cleaner, sprayed down the throttle body while it was running, sprayed more of the valve, shut it down and let it sit over night. Next morning, the truck runs beautifully again. A big fan of sea foam products. Use it in everything from my truck, motorcycle, lawn mowers and now, using their penetrating oil in my guns Keeps them rust free.
Just used it on my dead mower and is resurrected and sounds strong! It's an old free lawn mower left for dead and its now running better than before even after new plug oil and stuff
I also have a dead mower, Briggs & stratton engine. I gave it a tune up with carb cleaner. Did you use full or diluted 50/50 mixture in gas tank? I cleaned all but the inside of cartridge housing the fuel injectors and ports. I couldn't figure out how to open it up fearing I'd be breaking it.
I have used the regular formula by prying off the plastic seal on the top of the bottle, let the car warm up, then shut it off, then disconnected the brake booster vacuum line from the brake booster and put the open end inside the sea foam container. We started the car and rev’d the engine to high rpm’s. We let it suck all the sea foam up gradually, being careful to not add to much at once as it could stall the motor. There was white smoke everywhere for about 20 minutes and eventual the motor cleaned itself out and the smoke was gone. It essentially steam cleaned the motor. Got a misfire code as expected, but it went away after clearing the computer. Works great, some people are hesitant to do it this way but it’s completely safe for your motor.
I will be trying this on my wife’s 3.6L pentastar engine. If I’m impressed, I’ll be using it on my 6.2 LS3. Long time “do-it-yourself” guy, but have always been skeptical. This comment section is what made me decide to give it a go.
Ahh shit, forgot about this. Ok so I never let it touch my LS3. It did make the smoke in the Pentastar engine and we still have it, but it legit set off all sorts of codes. Flushed oil out and refilled. Audible misfiring continued for weeks after using it. If I ever tried it again it would be on some filthy 2 stroke machine, not any my rides.

I'm in my 60's. I've tried about every fuel system/upper cylinder cleaner there is. Seafoam is THEE best. I've only been using it about a year and a half. From now on, unless I hear their company was bought out by a big oil company, I won't use or need another product. I use it in my wife's 2002 Sienna and my 1993 Ford F250 Turbo diesel (aftermarket turbo). You can add up to 50% of your fuel tank capacity with Sea Foam. Me, I use two 16 ounce cans in 20 gallons which works great. I just used the upper cylinder (spray) Sea Foam in my wife's Sienna for the 2nd time. The van purrs like a kitten and makes the throttle much more responsive.

I have a 2013 BMW 128i that is fairly well modified, and recently my service engine soon light has been coming on. I plugged my Thor dongle into the OBD-II port and found out that my secondary air system is playing up. I tested the air pump and it works just fine, I removed the injection valve, soaked it in gasoline overnight, scrubbed it, sprayed it with carb cleaner, and it works just fine. I found out that the secondary air injection system has ports that lead into the combustion chambers of the head and that they can get clogged with carbon and when that happens the only way to remedy the problem is to remove the head and clean the ports out. Rather than do that I am going to try my hand at some Seafoam carbon removal. I need fuel, so I will put a can in the fuel tomorrow with a full tank of 93 (which I use anyway with a custom tune), and I will put the spray down the yap and do some praying.
So I’m positive I did the application correctly but I wanted to mention something about my experience. I have a 2009 Honda Accord with 120k miles on it. I never do an cleaning to the vehicle so I tried sea foam top and tank clean. After I used the application and let the car heat soak I started it back up and no smoke came out so I started driving and as soon as I accelerated my exhaust backfired and smoke just poured out and flashed the check engine light at me and my car wouldn’t accelerate like it was in limp mode almost. So I pulled over and shut the car off and after a couple minutes turned it on and revved the engine and more smoke poured out and then the car started driving normally like nothing happened. Would like to see what this was all about, did I have a clog and once my exhaust popped it cleared it? Or was that just part of the process and my car was just slowed to react to the product?
Just finished doing this on my wife’s van and followed instructions to the tee but there were no white smoke upon start up and during spirited drive. Don’t know what I could’ve done wrong?
I've seen people put it in the oil filler and people put it in the fuel tank... Which is the correct way? I have the product but won't use it because of miss information
So a spray can in the intake, a motor treatment can in the fuel tank while it’s low. And then a motor treatment can in my oil about 100 miles before a change?
Bought a used M4 recently. Not getting the factory gas mileage and she shakes a tad at idle. No check engine light or any other problems. I'm going to spray this through the throttle body and turbos and see what happens.
I’ve been contemplating doing this to my Ford Fusion with 250k miles but am hesitant. Would think cleaning years of carbon buildup could potentially clog or negatively effect the catalytic converter causing similar loss of power/mpg?
Guys any recomendation please ? I can only get a seafoam spra in my town (Mexico), but i want to put on the gas tank the seafoam liquid presentation, do you know if it is possible to do it just with 1 can of seafoam on the throttle body or i just throw one can into a empty cup and put in the gas tank to have better result?
I assume if you were to change the oil and you were to add seafoam, would it be more wise to use the high mileage seafoam over the regular? My car is a 2010 Corolla and it has about 171,000 miles. Also my oil is pretty much full most of the time so adding the seafoam while it's around 4.4 quarts is technically okay?

I have a 2011 odyssey with a cylinder 3 misfire...dealers told me it needs new rings because oil is fouling the spark plug...variable cylinder management is to blame since cylinders 1-3 do not work under eco mode to improve fuel economy...would removing sprak plugs and putting sea foam in spark plug hole and allow to soak for a day help in removing carbon buildup? What’s the correct way to do it? Thanks
Buy one can Sea Foam High Mileage and one can of Sea Foam Spray and be prepared to let the car sit for 2 or 3 days. Now, visualize the following: Oil in a chamber could come in from a stuck ring, worn ring (doubtful), the ring actuator plugged with oil residue, a leaky valve guide. Supposing your Honda engine is an inline 4-cyl, I would remove all 4 plugs and spray a healthy burst of Sea Foam Spray into each chamber and let it sit overnight to soak around the tops of the pistons and rings. Each day, crank the engine with the plugs out, then add another burst of Sea Foam Spray. After 2 or 3 days of soaking, add half a can of High Mileage Motor Treatment to the oil crankcase, put the plugs in and operate as normal. Keep doing the oil treatment every interval.
So, could I do this in lieu of removing the throttle body and cleaning it manually on my 2000 sierra? I only have about 80k, and have used Sea Foam in the tank before, just never cleaned the throttle body. It runs great, it's just a slug (4.8). Thanks!
I doubt your throttle body is dirty. If you think it's dirty you could remove to clean. The key with using Sea Foam Spray is to clean the intake valves and upper engine.
Is it safe to add 2 cans of SeaFoam to the gas tank, when filling the tank with gas? I also put 4ozs of SeaFoam in with the oil. Then change oil 300miles later.
Because your post context is 'Sea Foam in fuel', I will answer this way: Sea Foam in fuel passes through the fuel injectors into the upper engine. The Mass Air Flow sensor is waaaay up the airstream between the air filter and the throttle plate (before air goes into the engine).
what happens if i put the spray bottle in the intake and than shut down the car turned it on for 20 seconds and shut it off untill tomorrow will the deposits still go away after or do i have to restart all over
If you apply a whole can and wait a day to run the car you won't have a hot intake to burn the treatment out of the upper engine. Make sure you run the engine for at least 5 to 10 minutes after application. Does that help?
@@SeaFoamOfficial but i all ready have the whole bottle sprayed in the intake should i restart the treatment can it damage the engine if i restart the treatment

Hi Zachary. Are you saying you had a check engine light appear while applying Sea Foam Spray? You also stated "smoke" and "floored it"... please clarify.
If the noise is in the crankcase (sticky lifter noise), add Sea Foam High Mileage to the oil @ half a can per interval. If a knock (combustion chamber), Sea Foam Spray treatments through the intake you best remedy. Hope this helps!
How does this work for a hybrid? I have a KIA Niro, which is a hybrid with a GDI ICE engine. A lot of these steps say to drive the car continuously, keep the RPM at 2k, etc. But I have no tach to see the RPM and driving it will just allow the GDI engine to turn on and off since it's a hybrid. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are there different instructions for a hybrid?
Hi Bryan: I think your question is wise. There's no application difference. If you don't have a tach, just hold the pedal at a point where you sense that you're loading the engine to accelerate easy from a stop. Might be best to try another car with a tach to get a sense of 1500 to 2000 RPM.
One idea is to get a Bluetooth ODBII adapter suitable for your car and an app for your phone. The app should be able to tell you RPM among other things.

Induction through fuel rail is not going to clean the intake valves. If dirty valves are causing the rough-running, yes. Can't think of an easier and low cost way to diagnose! And don't be afraid to do 2 can treatments in a row. Let us know what happens.
Sea Foam Official thank you doing it tomorrow! I will do 2 can treatment. Do I have to do fuel treatment with it too or can I just do intake cleaning? I already ran injection cleaning

Could I remove the other end of the intake connected to the air filter to do this? Or does it have to be at the throttle body end?
Thanks for the question Jose. You could try it. Make sure you have the RPM elevated. A problem with extending the distance: if the air pull isn't great enough, the fluid can pool somewhere between the filter and throttle plate. Hope this helps!
How Sea Foam works has nothing to do with a catalytic converter. Catalytic converters either wear out (10 years approx) or are ruined by raw fuel that doesn't burn completely in the combustion chambers.
@@SeaFoamOfficial It was a what if question. I wasn’t accusing SF of anything, I’m curious. I have owned a lot of vehicles, never had catalytic converter fail after 10 years.
@@TheCtrumbo OK, thx. I've never had a converter fail either. Converters just wear out, some sooner than others. If a car has 200,000 miles. Yes, the RPM must be elevated while you're spraying. Note that you can take a break or two while spraying. Just stop spraying while you let the engine idle so you can rest.

Thx - let us know how it goes!
Well how did it go?
@reremembering Did you ever try it?
Ahh shit, forgot about this. Ok so I never let it touch my LS3. It did make the smoke in the Pentastar engine and we still have it, but it legit set off all sorts of codes. Flushed oil out and refilled. Audible misfiring continued for weeks after using it. If I ever tried it again it would be on some filthy 2 stroke machine, not any my rides.
My dad introduced me to seafoam 40 years ago been doing it ever since great product.... use it in my car my truck my lawnmower all my engines here at the house.

Thank you, Archie. Very nice!

I just did this process. I’ll follow up if I notice any changes.
Let us know..., thx!
When using SeaFoam in the gas tank or vaccum lines, do you need to do it before or after an oil change?
Does the car run normal now? If not, seems a plug might be fouled.
Just finished doing this on my wife’s van and followed instructions to the tee but there were no white smoke upon start up and during spirited drive. Don’t know what I could’ve done wrong?
White smoke means nothing. It's just oil vapor, and not always visible.

I've seen people put it in the oil filler and people put it in the fuel tank... Which is the correct way? I have the product but won't use it because of miss information
Both are good. In oil filler before an oil change. In fuel tank to clean injectors.
I just changed my oil in my truck then did this hot soak and heard this can some how get into your motor oil is that true

A good idea is to do this just prior to a oil change. Drive car to engine operating temp, apply seafoam, drive hard for 20 km or so and then drop oil.
So a spray can in the intake, a motor treatment can in the fuel tank while it’s low. And then a motor treatment can in my oil about 100 miles before a change?
Yes, except half a can in the oil.

Bought a used M4 recently. Not getting the factory gas mileage and she shakes a tad at idle. No check engine light or any other problems. I'm going to spray this through the throttle body and turbos and see what happens.
Hi Cody. Always apply in front of the throttle plate. Has no relationship to turbo parts.

I've never used it in my tank. Always used the spray only. Faster results.
High Mileage would be ideal!
Add 1 to 1.5 oz of SF per quart of oil. Oil volume should always be full.

My odyssey is v6 and uses full synthetic oil 0w20. Is your method safe for it? Would cleaning the oil deposits ruin the spark plugs? Thanks
@@nhifaw1 Yes, it would work great in your Odyssey's oil. No, cleaning in the oil crankcase does not have anything to do with spark plugs.
Should I add the motor treatment to my gas tank when it’s near empty or does it matter?

I also put 4ozs of SeaFoam in with the oil. Then change oil 300miles later.
You can safely add A LOT of Sea Foam to fuel. 2 cans is not excessive.
Sea Foam Official / What is considered "alot".?
Will this harm the mass flow air sensor??
Because your post context is 'Sea Foam in fuel', I will answer this way: Sea Foam in fuel passes through the fuel injectors into the upper engine. The Mass Air Flow sensor is waaaay up the airstream between the air filter and the throttle plate (before air goes into the engine).

If my cats clog up after a treatment, does the SeaFoam company acknowledge any responsibility?
How Sea Foam works has nothing to do with a catalytic converter. Catalytic converters either wear out (10 years approx) or are ruined by raw fuel that doesn't burn completely in the combustion chambers.
So sending raw, un-burned Sea Foam, along with clouds of burned carbon to the cat does nothing, but raw fuel can prematurely wear out a cat?
