Thank you for the video. I've been thinking about ditching my Sena 10c for a unit that stays on the bike and this answers all my questions. Appreciate you taking the time to make this.
It has been over a year since you made this video on the Blueskysea DVR system . I would like to ask if the unit is still operating and have you had any problems with it. I am considering buying the same model. I watched another review of it and that person said it was water”proof”. I thought your video contained the best and most complete information. I am curious if the B1M has held up and is it still a functional system for your BMW? I bought a Sena 10C Eco last year. It is the Bluetooth communicator with a nice camera. The camera worked great but the system itself had a manufacturer defect. The battery caused the system to shutdown and get hot. The replacement unit did the same thing. I made an agreement with Sena to replace the 10C Evo with their 50S mesh unit. Now I don’t have a camera…. Any information you would like to share would be appreciated. Side safe…
Thank you for the good review of that product. May i ask you about the settings of the device and to be more precise i am curious about the videos recorded without phone connected ( for example: When you turn on the motorbike i assume this device have motion detection and start recording automatically when you start drive ,but is the date/time correct when you watch the movies later ? for example you start driving on 13.10.2020 in 13:00 PM , there is no connected phone and the device start recording automatically. Were the videos recorded with that way. whether the videos showed with the proper date/time when you watch them and when you inspect them with the app or with the PC on the SD card.
Yes the camera starts recording and the time is stamped on the video as soon as the bike is turned on, no intervention needed by the rider. If you have the GPS unit the coordinates are stamped as well (once a signal is found). You have to make sure your time zone is set via the app, but once that is done the phone is not needed. I also don't see a way of turning the time stamp off, or the speed stamp off, from the recorded file.
@@fozrunner thanks for the review, I would like to know if the GPS signal gave the date and time settings to the central unit or you need to set it manually if the unit loose it.
@@GiulianoArcinotti Good question! I'm not entirely sure but I think the time must be set by the GPS unit as you need to select the Greenwich Mean Time offset in the app. If the phone set the time you would think that was already accounted. Then again if you don't have a GPS unit attached, how would you set the time? I'll have another look at the settings and see.
I've been sorting through different firmware problems with the way GPS values are embedded in the movie files. I have 6 different firmware versions from BlueSkySea. It seems that after the 20200327 version they started to obfuscate the gps data in the files, I'm not sure why. It may be so that the files can only use their own (rather limited viewer) if you want to display the map and speed separate from that shown in the bottom left corner of the movie. For many reasons I prefer to use Dashcam Viewer software. The firmware versions after 20200327 were supposed to address the power draw issue (I think) and I'm not sure what else. I've contacted the company support to see if they can solve the issue of the gps encoding, but no luck so far. I will probably revert back to the 20200327 firmware, record some files and send them off to DashCam Viewer so that it can be made compatible once more. Of course if you don't have, or or not interested in the gps module, this doesn't apply.
Thanks for the upload on this camera and have purchased one just the other day and waiting for it to ship. It has all I want in a camera. Just wondering when you upload to camera how long does it take to upload lets say a 5 minute movie file? The only thing this camera missed out on was a external mic adapter wish it had one and ease of retrieving the micro card as my seat does not come off that easy. But I believe I can hide the mic so I get nearly no wind nose at all.
It would take a long time if yo tried to upload by the Wifi connection, but I haven't tried it as my phone has limited memory. I take the sd card out and plug it into my computer.
Why does the video look better on your tv screen than when I'm watching the raw footage? The raw footage looks extremely pixelated, like 480P image that's been upsized to 1080p.
Well it's not a gopro. I think it has something to do with how the camera frames are interpreted by iMovie or UA-cam. It doesn't seem to want to recognize the actual resolution so it starts to interpolate. Looking at the raw footage on my computer is always better. Again, I'll only do that when necessary. Given the unit is a couple of years old now, there should be better upgrades (higher frame rate, higher resolution, better stabilization) available soon.
Thanks for the great video, was a toss-up for me between the dv688 or the B1m. Don't need the screen like on the DV688 since it's buried under the seat on my bike and the DV688 doesn't have WIFI. The B1M does have wifi, so I can make setting on my phone versus digging out the DV688 if I had bought that one...plus the B1M was on sale...so win win for me, cheaper than the 688 and has wifi. Question....which brand/make SD card are you using?? I know it says 128max...have you noticed a difference with various different SD cards in picture quality? Thanks for taking the time to compile this review on the B1M !! Great review!
Thank you for the comprehensive install and usage video. Did you ever move the "Red" wire to the switched-power connection on the Denali? Interested to hear about your results. Seems it should work that way. I am waiting on mine to arrive and this power question (red wire / yellow wire) keeps coming up.
Thanks for this review. Can you explain why the unit is drawing power when the bike is off? I thought that’s what the yellow switched wire is for - to trigger the unit on and off.
Apparently the new units have this fixed (see below). The yellow switched wire does trigger the unit, but it was still drawing some power, perhaps to the internal battery or the GPS module. I have my unit with both wires to switched power and it's still running and writing the final files with no problem. Also the DashCam Viewer developer has now added support for the unit. I'm quite happy with it.
Are you familiar with the Viofo-MT1? Or have you seen videos about the unit? Can you compare both units? I've been eyeing the Viofo-MT-1 but like you said the BM1 is half the price of most units. I believe the MT-1 is priced at $270
I don't think it is the WDR setting. There are two levels of compression in the video. The first when I import the clip into iMovie and export a file. I selected Quality = Best and Compress =Better Quality. Then when you upload to UA-cam it also messes with the compression. Given that when I look at the raw clip using Quicktime it still looks very over sharpened. I'm not sure if that can be adjusted in the settings. If you look at my video uploads I've added two more videos using the camera, both with WDR off.
@@fozrunner I installed my new B1M Motorcycle Camara, it took me 2 days, I tested the to see if it was functioning before I reassembled the motorcycle I checked the system in the garage again before going out on the road. @@graemepawson Hmm I guess you could have a bad unit. Did you try switching the rear and front camera leads? Perhaps one of the camera cables or the camera is bad. These cameras are garbage. Mine lasted 2 years and quit working. They refused to offer any repair either. Nice...
