Hi Alec sorry to bother you again As I said in one of my previous posts I am just new at fly tying Can I ask regarding thread size on this pattern you have used a 7/0 thread I have the UNI 8/0 in black would it be ok to use this size ? Or is it essential that the exact thread size stated is used ? I appreciate any advice on threads you can give me Thank you Steve

Hi Jim, there is some work tying the fly but it is worth it coz it's a great fish catcher 👍🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟
Why not just wind the dyed guinea fowl as a hackle? I'd also have wound the micro straggle as a body and wound the tinsel as a rib.
You could do Kevin , they catch lots of trout like that though 👍🎣🐟

Harald I haven't tried it for sea trout but it has good colour combinations and great movement in the water so why not 👍🎣🐟
The blue suggests sea trout, not really a salmon fly.

Try Upavon, they do a good range of uv micro straggle which is very close to the original 👍🎣🐟

You can use whatever thread you have, especially on a size 8.
