    Thank you for making the video, I have one of these machines and I like it, I find it user-friendly and easily customizable and modifiable, these machines are manufactured to the bare minimum to just get them working, they definitely need to be cleaned polished and greased, in the all have their own quirks, I've made a couple of videos showing what I've done to my machine, and I am always interested in seeing what other people have done to their machines and what they are doing with them, thanks 👍🏻😊

    Hi , I am having a certain problem that I cannot fix at all.
    When I go to sew my stitching is not tight at all , and can basically just be pulled out. I believe that the bobbin isn’t pulling in the upper thread at all , where by the upper thread is just sitting at the top and can slide out of the material very easily. I have tried adjusting the tension in the bobbin but nothing works , please help!!!

      You have another adjuster on the very bottom.Get a mirror,and aim it under the left end of the machine.There is a gear in there.There is a metal plate with 2 screws.Unscrew and inspect that area with a flashlight.There is a hangnail in there sometimes,that can be filed off.(on the metal plate)The gear has to mesh with the housing that holds the bobbin case.Mine wasn't moving at all,so we are going to sand the case some,and adjust the gear at the very bottom,so that it will advance properly.Sometimes,there is no clearance for those parts to move,so you will have to carefully sand everything that moves to make it work well.Hope this helps!

    Hi, that’s a lovely simple machine, thanks for showing. The benefit of a long arm and small baseplate is that you can get to the middle of a big piece of canvas etc to sew a patch but it’s also harder to control straight lines than a regular sewing machine. Can I suggest maybe adding a small smooth block on the base plate next to the foot as a guide for edge sewing so your piece can run up against it. It needs to be lower than the thickness of your piece and it could be held with a clamp.
    Also, have you thought about making a simple treadle so you can use both hands? Maybe something like a pole lathe treadle with a bungee to a point above. The flywheel’s so big, I reckon if the cord from the handle down to the treadle board was offset to the side the flywheel would carry on past the bottom and be pulled up past tdc by the bungee.
    PS. I think for backstitch you rotate the whole sewing head clockwise with a thumb lever at the bottom.

  • @mbaast
    @mbaast 2 роки тому +1

    The easiest way to backstitch is
    1.make sure needle is down
    2.raise pressure foot
    3.using the wing nuts above the pressure foot, rotate cylinder till pressure foot is facing the other way
    4.put foot back down and sew
    You can also sew "sideways" or 90* by turning cylinder 1/4 turn so foot turns 1/4 ?
    Now I just got the machine yesterday so I may be wrong. If I messing up machine, please tell me.

      Check to make sure that the needle is centered in the slot under the bobbin plate. My needle shaft was a little bent and I had to pull it out and put it on a flat metal surface and tap it gently with a small hammer. Check Roll it back and forth to make sure it is straight Check your walking foot also if you have not made any modifications to your machine. It is poorly manufactured. Disassemble the entire thing and file/sand/polish all parts that have sharp edges on everything. All of these machines are different so you gotta play with it.
