"Thought Vortex" Installation July 19, 2021

For its 20th anniversary, the Chicago Sculpture Exhibit, a non-profit dedicated to bringing public sculpture to Chicago neighborhoods, created the Richard Hunt Award. Named in honor of the renowned Chicago sculptor, the $10,000 award is for an emerging artist. The inaugural recipient is School of the Art Institute graduate Gwen Yen Chiu. In addition to the prize money, the CSE also commissioned a work from Chiu. On July 19, 2021, Gwen Yen Chiu's sculpture "Thought Vortex" was installed at Julia Porter Park, 2400 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. On hand to see his legacy inspiring a new generation was the legendary artist for whom the prize is named
