Bluffton, Ohio: The Organic Farm, Little Riley Creek Farm

The latest installment in my ongoing profiles of Bluffton, Ohio: For the past decade, Amanda Wischmeyer and Jon Tuttle, partners in life and farming, have operated the certified organic Little Riley Creek Farm near Bluffton. The previous owner grew mostly wheat and hay. Amanda and Jon not only diversified the crops but also started a CSA program (Community Supported Agriculture). In a rural area where corn is king and other farms rely on synthetic pesticides, Amanda and Jon use more natural pest control, an approach that requires a lot more work. But the surrounding community, they say, is fully supportive.
