- In the opening round of the 2018 QBE Shootout, Lexi Thompson and Tony Finau carded a clean 11-under 61, good enough for a T4 position and just two strokes back of the lead heading into Saturday.

The QBE Shootout is a three round team event contested at Tiburón Golf Course in Naples, Florida. Defending champions Sean O’Hair and Steve Stricker join top ranked players in the world that includes team 'Bryson DeChambeau - Kevin Na' and team 'Harold Varner III - Bubba Watson.' Tony Finau and the LPGA's Lexi Thompsonwill pair up again after finishing tied for fourth in 2017.

I have really enjoyed watching this pairing. All be it for a few putts, they would be s&t least tie for the lead. Lexi is setting the stage for many professional women by performing at an extremely high level while being put in the pressure cooker! Congrats!

The format for this tournament should be changed so that all teams consist of a man and a woman. So many possible pairings. Would be great to watch.

OK why is Lexi Thompson the only woman playing in this tournament.
Probably because of three reasons - 1) She is one of the few women that can hit drives long enough to be close to the men ( she hit from the same tee's ) and not be at a severe disadvantage to the men and 2) She is also one of the few attractive women on the LPGA tour = more eyeballs on the TV. 3) She's American. I don't think there's is another woman on the LPGA that would meet all 3 of those criteria, which is a shame, this could be a fun mixed couple's event in the future.
