Really love what this channel is giving us Simon, congrats fella on brilliant vids and storyline and thank you, your channel has shot to the top of my list of UA-cam channels even bedtime and wartime stories. God bless Simon and thanks for this.
This one is definitely a step up Simon! The characters have more detail which draws you into the story more. I really loved the inclusion of a Native American character (Return of Johnny Greywolf? 🙏) & the tie in to the cryptid. It was truly terrifying & if ever a phrase was designed to chill the blood then “wendigo herd” is surely it! 😉 I lived in Belgium for 8 years & have tramped many a WWI & WWII battlefield & you conjured up the creepy atmosphere of the Ardennes forest so well. Audio was better, music was especially great & artwork top notch. Ok…. I’ll stop fangirl-ing now…. 🤣🤣
This is the best one yet! I am such a big fan of bedtime stories and wartime stories and now I get to enjoy unclassified encounters I love them all this is great!
You know, I'd totally be down to try and edit in the sounds of gunfire and explosions to give it just that extra layer. On its own, though, this is amazing. I love every single episode you've put forth!
I’m AK Native, so glad to see that a creator has included Native Americans in a WW2 story. My Great-Uncle was a pilot in WW2, he sacrificed himself in Rome. He kept the plane flying whilst it was going down, so that the rest of the crew could escape. He also did his best to keep opposing forces focused on him so that others may escape & he managed to steer the plane to crash into the ocean, rather than on land because he didn’t want to accidentally kill or hurt civilians. My Gram always cried telling us his story on his birthday & on every Memorial Day. I still have one of the few remaining letters he wrote home, in Alaska.
@@UnclassifiedEncounter You captured the Native American attitude towards what most people consider inexplicable- perfectly. I just wanted to assure you that you are VERY good at writing and telling stories, you need to stop doubting your talents, and I really appreciate how you wrote a Native American character that perfectly emulates how we would deal with an adversary that would otherwise inhibit those that get hindered by denial, because it doesn’t fit within most beliefs and their parameters of reality; or can be scientifically substantiated and quantified. Some things are not limited by our perceptions or our definition of boundaries. Tlingits and Yupiks believe everything natural has a spirit that deserves respect. We also acknowledge that there are creatures/beings that may never be understood, but that doesn’t mean we should underestimate their abilities and assume that we, as humans, are superior. Tlingits have stories of creatures similar to the Wendigo, it’s called the Kooshtaka. Kooshtakas are shape-shifters that like to psychologically torture their victims by mimicking them or someone the victim’s care about & they are maliciously, viciously clever. Kooshtakas are not created by a curse though, they are creatures that inhabit the wilderness & the unknown. They can be outwitted and even be defeated, but it’s best to evade them. I’ve actually had an encounter with a kooshtaka in Sitka, Alaska; but my experience happened because they’re also attracted to people with spiritual abilities. My heritage includes a long line of Shamans/Healers from both my Tlingit and Yupik ancestry. I know most people won’t believe me and will doubt my sanity for being blunt about my encounter with a “cryptid”. Shrug, Alaska’s both beautiful and brutal. Nature and the universe is beautiful and brutal; so we treat everything natural and what’s considered supernatural with respect, care & caution when needed. I hope I haven’t scared you off with all that lol. And seriously- you need to stop doubting your very good talent, I have a feeling your creativity will benefit you well. Especially since you put so much care, consideration and heart in every detail of your stories. And just as much accolades go to the artist that does such wonderful work putting fantastic, detailed visualizations that beautifully emphasizes and embellishes your stories, without detracting or distracting away from them. You two really have attained a creatively symbiotic relationship that writers and visual artists rarely achieve together. Rarely is there a good balance but you both create great work together. Belated Merry Christmas & Happy Boxing Day!
Another spectacular episode as always! The Art, The Sound, The Characters and the Story are Perfect! Do you take any story idea suggestions or anything like that? Edit: Being an Airborne unit, all I have to say to the ending is a somber and sad "Gory, Gory, What a Hell of a way to die, and he ain't gonna jump, no more." 😞
It blows my mind that there are only 14K views of this episode. The artwork and storyline are impeccable. This channel is the best thing going. Many thanks for your hard work.
WOW! Just wow. WW2 Wendigos: fabulous. What I have come to love (over the 3 days I've been watching this series) is gritty "realism". These are just real men in terrifying situations; they aren't overblown heroes (I mean, my first thought was how far the Wendigo infection had spread, considering the nature of the Battle of the Bulge, but I grew up on zombie apocalypse stories), they're just soldiers and sailors and airmen fighting the unknown. Story did remind me of two things: The X-men and Forge and the Adversary. In Vietnam Forge was a soldier and in a losing battle used Native American Magic to call forth dark forces to destroy the enemy. Then he called in a bombing raid to stop the demons from leaving the area and cover his tracks. Decades later, the dark forces wanted payment for their services. The second thing was an alternate setting for the Buffy the Vampire slayer game, which involved Wendigo as a stand in for Vampires. They were nowhere as feral or formitable as yours were (able to shift back to human form to capture victims and set up ambushes), and were victims of a curse passed on by a man who summoned a demon during the settlement of that part of America (i think he was bound to a tree). Still, great episode. Keep up the good work!!
Great story! My dad was a huge War history buff and would have gotten such a kick out of your stories, I think of him when I am listening to them. Thanks! And Dad, I hope you are enjoying these as much as I am. Wartime Stories and this new one would have been one of his favorites for sure!
Amazing job, as always! May I suggest setting the next episode in a different theater of war, like North Africa, the Eastern Front? I am particularly excited for an episode taking place in the Pacific theater, because the cultures of the Asian countries WW2 was partly fought in, like the Philippines, Indonesia and Burma, are packed to the brim with things that make European and North American folklore monsters look like kitty cats by comparison.
Hi Giovanni, We have episodes planned in the Far East including an aswang episode, and a supernatural murder mystery in a Japanese pow camp. There’s a North African episode planned too, and others constantly being proposed and updated. You should see some from Norway and Iceland in tbe not too distant future too… We’re as eager for variety as you guys area 👌🏻
Try the Southern Chinese theatre near Myanmar, wth down American flying tiger pilots in Yunnan and his Chinese allies and Japanese foes fighting ancient Hmong demon for their lives!
Stark contrast to the Until Dawn depiction of Wendigos, where the zombie infection aspect was not present. Though, the protagonists of that game make this wrong assumption that can potentially cost the life of one character.
Gotta love the series' moments just like 2:55. That's gonna be a common image, I assume. Well, hope this channel gets a TV Tropes page alongside Wartime Stories, so they can get more exposure just like Bedtime Stories. If lucky, maybe even a Wikipedia page or something similar.
