This was at the height of Heartless Crew's rise to fame, they made the FM dial an exciting place and because of their success in 1998 they started running their own raves in the years that followed. Big up all the crew that reached down to Fonti's Bday Bash Fri 5th Nov 1999 @Club Space (Stratford). Hackney's Bachelor Crew DJs started off playing sets on Shake FM around 1998 and made their way to Mission FM 90.6. The crew was made of 2 DJs and 2 MCs: DJ Glenn Good Stuff Butcher (GGB), DJ Supa D, MC Frost (Mic Man Frost), & MC Rodney B. They eventually left the station to join local Hackney pirate, Pure Magic FM 90.2, after that was taken off air they briefly featured on London Underground FM 89.4 in 2001, before making the leap to Deja Vu FM 92.3 in 2002. DJ Supa D remains active until this day on the UK House scene linking up the likes of DJ Pioneer and MC Spidey G. MC Rodney B & MC Frost were definitely underrated and the brought smooth style of toasting which was respected in the early Garage movement also dropping the odd gritty street chronicle. Over the years as MCs they did progress but we have little info as to what happened to them after. There was a different flavour to the Mission FM MCs, with Dangerous D, Vicious V, Ebony Jae, Frost and Rodney B all in the mix. Note that their flavour rubbed off on D Double E when he joined Ebony Jae and the 187 Crew, his style began to take some of those MC influences, but you have so look forensically to see that because this was pre-dating Nasty Crew, during the years he was a Jungle MC with the Reckless Crew and his transition to Garage.
Rewinding back in time we get a real taste of what the Heartless Crew were like at their peak. Fonti's track selection and mixing was sublime. Bushkin and Mighty Moe combine perfectly. The HLC would later go on to headline all the big raves and go down as legends in the UK Garage scene. Mission FM had bags of potential and at its height attracted a lot of listeners. However, the management split paths, Badger B took the dial 90.6FM calling the station Y2K FM (Yours 2 Keep) and Ricochet briefly moved to Raw FM 90.0 forming Raw Mission FM with Bionic Bossman and not much is known about Swifty who played an instrumental role in the running of Mission FM.
