thank you for sharing info with us , not every charter captain would be so willing to share the information that took so many years to obtain. It is truly appreciated
Bill, These are great hooks. I just built my first set tonight. Can't wait to try them on fall kings next weekend. We have had many hooks and line break this year, and your setup should hold up much better!
Started tying my own fly leaders last season after watching this video. Was buying pre tied hook harnesses before with single trebles. After tying my own I have yet to lose a fish on a ff due to the knot failing or a hook popping out. Bill saiff you put a lot more big Kings on the deck of my boat with this video
Hi Bill, great video. Excited to get back on Lake Michigan, it’s been awhile. I had a question. I took notes but was wondering all I need is the overhand knot at the top to connect to the snap swivel on the flasher? Thank you. Steve
Hey bill I've been trolling out of sandy creek or the oak orchard river thru all seasons since I live local . Been killing kings and steelhead thanks for all the info . Should do a video in just graph reading and what temp/depth and everything means when your hunting for kings. Thanks again .
All the manufacturers sell 6 packs of extra skirts. All Season's Sports in Pulaski, NY has them. Also: these shops that cater to Steelhead fishermen will have lots of beads. We buy the beads in a craft store in 500 to 1000 count bags. Sometimes its hard to find the GLO beads in the craft store but the regular beads can be purchased for pennies on the dollar.
Hi Bill I can not find Addya #1 Treble hooks. Are they still Made? Do you know where I can buy them. I love the hooks, and just ran out, but just can not find them. Please Help. Thanks
hi bill just getting started in to this trolling fishing for salmon steelhead lakers ect.thank you for all the good tips god knows i need them but just a question you say a # 4 octopus or 4/0 octopus thank you very much again
Thanks for clearing that up Bill. My number 4s came in the mail today I thought either I got too small of hooks or you have really small hands!😂 I’ll order the 4/0.
My flies are tied at 4" inches. However, you can vary lots of elements in the makeup of a fly. The volume of tinsel, the cut of the tinsel and the length of the tinsel are all considerations. This is simply what we use as a standard.
Bill do you inspect those hooks before you tie them on. I got 2 packs per your recommendation and am disappointed with the inconsistent weld jobs and blunt points. I'm all about the details, like a you, and I want hooks that I have confidence in.
I don't know why it wouldn't work. Kings beat these flies up so we double them so that they last longer. They probably won't get punished quite so hard with Finger Lakes trout.

You are correct......I didn't pick up on that in the video. It is a 4/0. We sometimes use 5/0 but I like the 4/0 a bit better.

Bill, it sounds like during the staging period of the Kings you use 11" flashers. When do you use the 8" flasher?
Hey Bill, how many inches of tinsel do you normally run on a standard trolling fly for kings?

Hello Bill, would the double skirt method be equally effective on Lake trout? We fish the Finger lakes and occasionally Lake ontario.
Bill what size treble do you use. I just ordered #1 addya trebles
What size beads??
usually 6 or 8mm beads

I think that knot you're using is a "knotless knot" . Not a snell.
