Jagged Little Pill is the album this is off of and no cap, it’s one of the best albums ever recorded. I highly recommend listening to it in its entirety. In my top 10 of all time for sure!

@@corylyonsmusic He is one of the guys it is about, but once on a radio interview after he heard it he said "The song is about me" and people thought it was the whole song. The time period it was written about is when she had to keep moving from one city to another and the bad endings that left with some of the men she was seeing at the time. Think 4 or 5 Taylor Swift Albums but all bottled up in one Album.

"Ironic" makes me cry. Many years ago my Dad's company sent a lot of Cali employees back east for some class. He hated flying and opted out at the last minute. The return flight crashed and no one survived. The next day at school a classmate of mine and her younger sister were both absent. Their father worked for the same company. 😭😭😭

Ryan Reynolds was never on That 70s show, but Blake Lively’s father was. He just passed away a couple weeks ago unfortunately.

She completely blew up with this album. Every song she released was a huge hit, and they were all good. "You Oughta Know" is still my favorite.
You oughtta know rocks, and really listen to the lyrics. You'll freak. She was the female "Nirvana" of the 90's!
And her drummer (not on the album, but in the video and on tour) was Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters-- more Nirvana connection!

You should try Jewel, “Who Will Save Your Soul?” Another great 90s female singer. She grew up in the woods of Alaska, sang yodeling with her dad, trained in classical opera, then lived in her car as she played various clubs in CA. Her debut album “Pieces of You” blew everyone away. ❤️
So good. "Foolish Games" is also worth listening to as well. Another great 90s lady is Paula Cole. "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone" is so good.

It wasn't actually a debut album. She had released 2 previous albums that were very dance/pop in style. Her new record company pretended that those albums didn't exist.
Her music changed the tide. This song is iconic. Her style of music was ground breaking. She never got the props she deserved. She is a badass. Wish she would come back

Jagged little pill and tori Amos (all 3 90s albums) were ground breaking for chick rock back then. But we can’t forget Poe, Mazzy Star and Liz Phair and ani difranco.
That wasn't her first album. She had released 2 albums prior to JLP that were very dance/pop albums that were successful in Canada. When JLP was released, the record company pretended that her first 2 albums didn't exist because the styles were so different. Search for "Alanis Too Hot" and "Alanis Feel Your Love" on UA-cam and you'll hear a very different sounding Alanis (she used just her first name on those 2 albums).

The “ironic” thing in this song is that none of the examples are actually “ironic.” They are just bad luck, or coincidence.
