David Bowie challenged MTV in its early days for not playing Black artists. He had a way of just calling it like he saw it. Marched to his own beat and that was part of his appeal. Gave others courage to live their own truths. RIP.
He also was invited to play on SOUL TRAIN in the 1970's and there is a Video of that performance.
He alwaya supported other artists, borrowed sounds, collaborated. He was a gift to all of us. Thanks, Starman. 🖤 🌟
He sure did. The video where he called them on it in a televised interview is still out there and he was brilliant. There’s racism everywhere but the older English rock stars saw it when they came here, in the ‘60s-80s and some of them spoke out against it. David was one of them who did it in a very public platform. Love that man.
Bowie married a black model
@@xoxxobob61 ... He was the 1st white performer on Soul Train.
Let me say this. I'm British and I'm 62 years old. In 1977 when I was 19, I first listened to this and other tracks like Sound and Vision. I said then that this was music that belonged to the future, and I still say it now when I hear Sound and Vision. It's great that you lads think the same as we did in the 70s. Our 44 year-old music then was made in the 1930's.
He was married to Black Supermodel Iman. He also went to MTV exec.and asked why they don't have any Black bands and singers...well, MTV changed and started putting all the groups and singers in their line up. He was a great man and entertainer.
He was a real INFLUENCER!
You could have just said "supermodel".
@@katyas-mom Just giving them a little background...your sarcasm is not necessary...this is a fun page!!!!
Love you twins!!!
@@katyas-mom I think you're wrong..the point was about David's connection to black people. Therefore, pointing out that his wife was black is important in this context.
@@michaelharris680 Thank you! 😊
Yes, more Bowie. The answer is always more Bowie.
He’s gone now. Look through his history...so many different phases. His career lasted a long time and his musical styles were very diverse.
And he was in Twin Peaks (movie)
@@joshehrendreich4058 and the Man who Fell To Earth and a vampire movie with Catherine Deneuve. Or was it Susan Sarandon?
@@pyrovania I'm fairly certain he was also in The Prestige with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. He played Nikola Tesla.
It was both of them! :)
He was also in Labyrinth
Lend an ear to "Lets Dance" from his music in the 80's. He was a whole mood!!
Don't
His songs from the 70s like FAME were way better than his 80s songs NOT EVEN CLOSE
Matter of opinion.
I’ve never heard of David Brownie either 🤣 but I’ve heard of David Bowie....legend. Can’t believe there are people in the world who don’t know who Bowie is, what the?
I wouldn't mind if you literally did all of David Bowie's catalogue, the man's that legendary. From Ziggy to the Thin White Duke to the Blind Prophet, he'll make you laugh, think, dance, and even cry. He's an artist worth investing in.
😂😂 I wouldn’t mind that either 👏🏻
There are some albums that you have to listen to in order from beginning to end (Dark Side, White Album, etc), and Ziggy Stardust is one of those.
@@jenathome575 definitely listen to David Bowie's "Golden Years" and "Young Americans." David could definitely sing funk and soul as well as dance and rock he was so versatile with his music. By the way he was married to the model "Iman" the beauty from Somalia. Fame, Young American and Golden Years we're released in 1975 or 1976 and ya'll are just now discovering these treasures? Better late than never. Peace and Positivity!Keep up the good work!
You are absolutely right on your assessment of David Bowie's collection, Fame and Let's Dance I have played these 💎 gems for so many yrs I cannot remember but his entire collection transcends both time and 🌌 dpa e!
Genius, master of his craft, never judge an album by its cover!
Space Oddity live and Let's Dance live. David Bowie is an icon, around since the 1960's. He was a sweet friendly man. I saw him in the street one day, in NYC, I smiled and said hi. He gave me a smile that lit up the street and said HELLO! bright and loud, like he was greeting an old friend!
That's amazing!!
Since the 60's!
Oh my gosh that's amazing :') wish I could've met him
I would have fainted flat in the street.
@@couplakooks I would have too!!
Look for The Rise and Fall if Ziggy Stardust, it’s an early concert. Also, Glass Spider and I think Live at the Tower are on video. I’m a Bowie fan since childhood, I was Aladdin Sane for Halloween when I was in first grade. He changed with the times and experimented a lot . He was a musical artist and visual artist and also an actor. I cried when he passed. What a loss it was.
That moment when you KNOW Tim and Fred gonna look at each other. 🔥👏
You knew exactly when it was going to happen. 🤩
That song has got some serious funk. David Bowie could do anything with his voice. He has done plenty of songs others have listed you need to check out.
Thanks for reacting to Bowie ! Yes, you gotta watch him live. So many other great Bowie songs, try “ Life on Mars “ “ Young Americans” , “Changes” “Hero’s” and Ziggy Stardust . You guys are great
RIP David Bowie. 🙏🎼💖
Bowie was a great gift to this shabby frayed world. Now that you've found him, you have a lot to discover. Enjoy the hell out of him. Blessings on him, and on you 💕
You should do David Bowie’s song “let’s dance”- Stevie Ray Vaughn plays guitar on it!
So many people LOVE this guy... he served up so much diversity and artistic talent and was a true gentleman ♡ please listen to a song from each of his periods plus also check out "Labyrinth" and other movies he was in ♡
It's also a treat to watch him being interviewed - such a genuinely nice, thoughtful and interesting person.
Bowie is a legend 🙌
He said he’s to cool to fool. Loved me some Bowie RIP! And his widow Iman.🙏🏽
Golden years is my fav David Bowie song. Think you'd luv it.
I watch knights tale just to see heath ledger dance to this song!
@@monaestrada6256 That's a great scene. Definitely worth replaying before continuing.
There is no bad David Bowie. So many different styles so many years and it is all fantastic.
The last song of his life was only a few years ago, he was dying of cancer at the time and did the entire thing from a hospital bed 😢♥️
David Bowie is AMAZING! I'm glad you guys are checking him out...he is a LEGEND.
My favorite David Bowie song is "Young American". Whereas Fame is more funky, Young American is more motown/soul. Greatest tune ever?
this is such a great funky song. if you have never Heard David Bowie he has a huge catalogue one of the most creative pop singers and performers that ever was
I'm sooo glad I came up in the 1970's. We had the best music black and white musicians. Y'all killing it. Do some AWB AVERAGE WHITE BAND or WILD CHERRY
Bowie is known for being a lot of different things, so yes, he can do this kind of song and a whole bunch of other kinds of songs.
Each Bowie's album brings a totally diffrent vibe! There is some Bowie's music 4 everyone!
FINALLY!!!! I've been begging for Bowie for months and months!! You did not disappoint! I KNEW you'd react well! PLEASE do more Bowie - such a diverse library of music - all so different. Yes, must react to a live performance for sure! Thank you SO much. Space Oddity, Young Americans, Golden Years, Ziggy Stardust... I'm so happy!
RIP David. Thanks for the music.
Top of the line. DAVID BOWIE, FAME!!!He is always will be incredible. Rock out!!
R&B radio stations played this in heavy rotation. Got David a spot on Soul Train surprisingly and gave him exposure to the R&B audience
The dancefloor filled up when this song played, and it played for at least 15 years!
Y’all have found your way to one of THE greats! Welcome boys, enjoy your stay to the fullest!
RIP, David. A hero. Love you guys.
rocking out to this all my life. see u rockin too.
I have been waiting sooo long for some Bowie ... yay!!!
Saw him live at glastonbury 2000, was amazing
I love watching you guys react to old music through your young eyes!!!!
First concert I ever attended...David Bowie had just released FAME. Epic.
Thanks for listening, finally guys....I'll calm down now....by the way, Bowie worked with the top R&B producers of the the time and you're right, it wasn't his genre...he let a background musician who had great arrangement ideas both do all the vocal arrangements and co-wrote a song on his "Young Americans" album that this was from...a guy named...Luther Vandross....
48 years old.itbwas in Friday 2 soundtrack.dont know many bowtie songs.2 when this came out
Hot played on soul radio.old school soul dis still play this on their shoes.
This song came out the year I graduated from high school. Bowie left behind such a rich catalog of music for you to explore! He went through phases, both with his look and with his musical style. A fascinating person, he was known to visit several of the New York night clubs back in the '70s, when he was already an international superstar, and just sit there like a regular patron, listening to the bands. He married the stunning Somalian supermodel Iman, and they were a gorgeous couple. I believe you may have already listened to "Under Pressure" which he did with one of your favorites, Freddie Mercury. Probably my favorite Bowie song is "Ashes to Ashes" but right up there with it is "Changes" and "Space Oddity." Fun hits of his from the '80s include "China Girl", "Modern Love", and "Let's Dance", all of which were on the same album. (Back in the days when people bought albums from artists, not just individual songs.) Bowie was always innovating, always evolving, right up until his death. I'd love to see your reactions to some of his other songs!
David Bowie is a legendary performer! He is funk, rock, and blues all rolled up in one! He was the coolest! He was so versatile! Love him! RIP Mr. Bowie! ❤️❤️
David Bowie is awesome!
His music is so good!
He has a style all his own. He beats to his own drum.
He's definitely iconic!
He wrote the song Under Pressure with Freddie Murcury of Queen. I think you've played that song already. If ya'll haven't please do!
Please play more of his music.
RIP David Bowie. Gone too soon!
The way he said BOWIE ... I LOVE THEM
I love David Bowie. Thank you :-)
BOWIE. He was pure magic.
Just think, these are the times that funky sound effects are created and discovered. Sound effects made without just pressing a button. Wow!
Bowie is a legend. Was fortunate to have seen him live once. A true master of his craft. Magician of sound and vision. Check out "Golden Years" 👍🏼
This is a true legend listen to anything from the album Ziggy Stardust. Space oddity is a killer song too. He is gone to soon.
He had so many banger songs. Life Mars, All the young dudes.
DAVID IS AN ICON ✨ love this
He did this song on SOUL TRAIN!
It would be fun if they could react to Soul Train lines, especially the 70's, but the 80's were fun too since the 80's had Louis and Cheryl and some very memorable Soul Train lines
This song was a hit back in the 70's and it was played on R&B Stations.. Please do a reaction to David Bowie song ( Let's Dance ) which was also played on R & B stations..
"Let's Dance", "Young Americans"....so many good ones
Hurt. That is my heart that you didn't already know Bowie. He was an icon and GOAT.
Was at his concert in 1981. Lifelongfan!
Thanks for making me smile!
I owe David Bowie for introducing me to Mick Ronson, Adrian Belew, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Three of my favorite guitarists. There's 50 years of Bowie to check out. Bowie was whatever you wanted him to be.
After all these years listening to this song, I only realised how similar it sounds to a Prince song! 😎
This is STILL the jam!!! Your party was popping back in the day when this joint dropped.
Do some George Thorogood reactions like "Who do You Love", "Bad to the Bone" or "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer".
One bourbon - I def second that. Funny stuff. Also Rehab sittin' @ a bar (original version)
Also "Sun Spot Baby" 😂😂🤣😂
Thank you so much for entertaining us... all of us from Canada
The song was written by David Bowie, Carlos Alomar, and John Lennon from the Beatles. The guitars were played by Carlos and John.
Bowie is different every time you see him - that's a fun rabbit hole right there.
Love you guys! Follow the rabbit hole down.. Bowie is f*cken awesome... So much music ✌️❤️🌎 I'm so glad you found him at last
please do We Are The World by USA for Africa. more legends singing the same song in one room than you’re ever gonna see again
I'm a huge fan of Bowie and your reactions, so this was a fine Good Morning video for me!😃 Thanks!
I'd love you guys to see just how vast his music was, as well as her "personas" He was truly magical!
May he RIP♥️
He does sing this. I sa him live 3 times. He sang it everytime :)
Another musical, theatrical genius. Multi instrumental. The guy plays everything. Dynamic, Diverse, Dimensional. And that's just the Ds. Go down that whole. If you want a glimpse into his head. There is an interview by a MTV guy. Bowie corners him on the lack of Black artists played at the time. Brilliant. And spot on
I can’t wait for you to hear more Bowie !
MORE BOWIE PLEASE! love him
long distance hugs from South Alabama 🤗 Roll Tide!! Love yall to the moon!!
They played this song in Next Friday for Pinky! 🎼🎸😉💙✌️
David Bowie was one of the first white artists to perform on Soul Train TV show. You can find a video of him singing "Fame" on Soul Train as well. A real banger!
Here for all the Bowie reacts because the man is pure gold
This song will always remind me of my favorite psychological thriller copycat.... OK one of my favorites
My first ever concert David Bowie Melbourne 1983 aged 13 years old 🙏such a privilege ✨
Loved him!!
He said, “ I don’t know what that was.. a bell?” 😂😂 I love them
The Twins can make you like music you normally wouldn't care for.
One of my favorites! Keep up the good work guys!
David Bowie. HEROES
Love watching y’all!
Love you guys!!! I’m an old lady who loves all music. Next you should listen to David Boeie Jean Genie
David Bowie is a one of a kind baby! His alter ego is Ziggy Stardust.
Space Oddity is a must listen to; very different to Fame. Part of David Bowie's longevity as a performer was his ability to change and reinvent his style. He may be gone, but his music will live for eternity.
Please Listen to one of his songs from the 80’s like Let’s Dance or China Girl.
The Iggy Pop version of China Girl is better, besides, Iggy wrote it.
Modern Love too...LOVE 80s Bowie
There’s such a difference when you guys are really feeling something ;-)
Check out the version called Fame 91, Queen Latifah has a rap on it. It does sound like it’s from the early 90s, but it’s still dope!
I think it should be, like, federal law that everybody has a favorite David Bowie song. I also like to say, that Fame is my 8 year old daughter's favorite
If you guys like the funk sound, check out Bowie's "Golden Years."
You guys are wise beyond your years. Kudos 👍
Got a fun fact for you guys..Lennon worked on Fame with Bowie..you guys are so cute. I love ur love of music
Good luck with trying to see him perform live.
I love watching you guys discover new music! I recognize the looks on your faces because I had the same look the first time I heard these songs too!
You ever listen to a song called "Living in the Past" by Jethro Tull? It's a pretty trippy song.
John Lennon wrote this song with David Bowie and he's singing Fame in the background you can hear his voice when you know it's Lennon
