I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I agree that the concept of "artist" is as varied, rich, and diverse and the concept of "art", and I also feel like Hwei's approach to artistry is (in my eyes) as good of a singular depiction of an artist as could be - I would even say that it is even more so than Jhin's, and to say that he set a high standard would be an understatement. (Once again, this is completely subjective, and I don't really believe in comparing this kind of thing generally anyway; but I'm making an exception for the sake of expressing my love for Hwei's mind.) (By the way, you made me discover the word "wistful", and I love learning new words and have always compared this love to what a painter might feel upon discovering a new color, which is pretty fitting given the video on which we're commenting :p So thanks!) I feel like this comment is already too long, so I'll have to use approximations for the sake of brevity; but the richness of the mind of an artist is something that has felt underestimated (for lack of a better word) in the vast majority of the depictions I've seen in various media. Some focus on the melancholy, some on the obsessive desire to feel. Some focus on negative emotions - making oneself feel pain cathartically, chasing a vain ideal of perfection, etc. -, some on positive ones - the euphoria of creation, or of sharing with others. And while those can surely be focussed on in a way that leads to an interesting depiction of an artist's mind, they always felt too "singular", "monolithic". I cannot help a bit but be teary and melancholic when listening to his voice. It is so calming and sincere to his emotions. The trauma turned to strength through art🤧. Some of his voice lines especially on his skills seems like what he would say in his monologues. In fact, I think most of his interactions are just internal reactons towards his fellow Ionians. Overall, I like him. Character, lore, voice and voicelines, personality, and how empathetic he is. Makes me want to use him, not because of his skills or novelty, but for the chamption itself which is a first for me. (Teemo was the first in the past tbh, but that was because he was just infamous😂.)

First-Encounter - Samira: My name is Hwei and there's a giant demon that's about to resurrect and i need YOUR help to stop it. Kill - Aatrox: while Thy branches mix with Mine. And Our roots Together join.
His dialogue is beautiful, especially those long moves. And the champion interactions are so plentiful with nearly all the Ionians. I wish he had ones with Xayah and Rakan, maybe instead of Vex and Sona.
I'm not a player of league in the main series, moreso the side games like Ruined King, Song of Nunu and LoR and I love reading up on the lore and backstories for the champions. Irelia, Kindred & Aphelios are on top
I have been, for years now, waiting for a champion to share Jhin's plight, his only weakness in the lore was how isolated he was for a long time, and he felt like an instrument to give purpose to the fights of everyone else, I get that's part of his character as the deranged unpredictable serial murderer, but Jhin is too famous to stay that forever, he deserves an arc of his own, he deserves a groupie, a henchman, a love hate relationship where's he the main character, he deserves a connection and I am so happy he finally got it, on that note it feels like riot are giving aphelios2.0 his voice because it's such a waste that he doesn't. Hope the lore fleshes out some of Jhin's vulnerabilities and gives him the depth he oh so deserves.
I, too, think they should make out, yes.
you should take a look at the zed's comics, they give some insight of Jhin as well and pretty cool relationships.
@@Madheim777 I read it, it's still pretty much Zed centric and Jhin is just as volatile because he has to be for the sake of Shen and Zed romance, there's this part in Jhin lore where after his capture he's described as mild mannerd, timid and quite talented, I wanted more of that ever since I read the lore...the comic was nice but nothing we didn't know already.
@@crooked_teeth. while I indulge in shipping, for the Canon I am hoping they steer from the romance because it's very restrictive and will take away from Jhin's reveal, they've been trickling us for so long I'd die if they reveal a whole ass relationship, it's just not the way to go.
@@KhadaJhin04 I've been living in fear of Riot unmasking Jhin for years now. I know they'll make him look way younger than he actually is and extremely basic. I would prefer Jhin to canonically have no mentions of any relationships. Whatever that Rioter said in that Q&A ages ago about him being Gunsexual, either implying no sexual attraction at all or something related to his murders, is more intriguing imo.
"This is Hwei, a champion with 10 spells 🧙♂️. QWE act as a spellbook. Q is for Damage 🔥, W is for utility 🛡️, E is for control 🕹️. QR/WR/ER washes your brush 🖌️, Combining QQ produces devastating fire 🔥, QW severing bolt ⚡, QE produces molten fissure 🌋, WQ produces fleeting current that enhances your/allied movement speed 🌊, WW generates a shield 🛡️, WE enhances your 3 auto attacks ⚔️, EQ fears your enemy 😱, EW grants vision in an area 👁️, EE pulls your enemy in the center 🎯. R stacks despair 😢."
"Death is no muse, it's bleeds the color from everything it touches". That's DEEP! 😮💨
Amazing work from the VA, he sounds like he's about to cry in some of these lines
His interaction with Irelia gave me chills
Same but with Syndra
Calm yet a bit Seductive(bro Im straight bruh his Voice was too Seductive)
I thought it was a diss cuz Irelia's entire family is dead 💀
@@neuwah To be fair i think so is Hwei's
It's only one interaction lol
He talks so flowery love him already
he's such a beautiful character, inside and out. i love him and his motives so much
I cannot help a bit but be teary and melancholic when listening to his voice.
Literally every voice line gave me chills. And the delivery just made it so much better. I just love the moments when he laughs and cries
Man this interactions gave me goosebumps. Such a magnificent voice
Thank u hwei for reminding me of syndras existence. He really did the unthinkable.
I love his voice😍
Absolutely agreed!
For years Talon and Syndra have been neglected; i thank Hwei and Briar for bringing them back. Hope they meet
^^^ but we need more of Syndra tho
True but this is kinda a start
His laugh is precious 🥹
The voice actor did an insane job with the R lines, actually feels like a powerful mage with passion for his work. That “See as I see” was so cinematic even in the theatre of the mind
my fave character concept in a looooooong while, he feels so fleshed out and unique! cant wait to play him.
What a personality with depth, I absolutely love this character
Perfect! Now Riot needs to make an emo band next. Hwei, Varus, Sylas, Talon and Zed might fit somehow lmao
oh my god this would be AMAZING.
You mean BIG SAD?
More like hwei and aphelios
"Misery loves company, doesn't it, little one" that line is so fkin cute when encountering Vex. I love this champ so much, his voice, his looks and lore is just so interesting to me. I MUST HAVE HIM 😈
4:25 hayao miyazaki said that!!!! such a nice reference to a great artist :')
As a Jhin main I didn't know I needed Hwei so much 😭
I am obsessed with his voice, the VA did an amazing job
I love how he is still optimistic in ways even though he seems so pained
5:07 bro why tf am I tearing up :(
Honestly, I don't know if there is at least ONE SINGLE other legend who are truly sad when it kill an ennemy.
Jhin also does that laugh/cry thing when he dies. LOVE IT!
Such a Great Voice and Lore related to Jhin, that's always nice to have
despite the myriad of "pacifist" characters in league, this if the first character who has seemed remorseful after killing his enemies. i like that aspect a lot actually.
Huge sandman vibe on this character i love it !
I love it when he said "I curse thy stars in bitter grief and woe, which makes my love so high and me so low."
Wow, what a great voice! How emotional it is, so beautiful❤ An impressive work
He sounds exactly like I thought he would sound.
Literally made me feel self conscious about why I'm not utilizing every minute of my life and how I'm wasting it all away lmao
his voice is genuinely chilling i love it
never thought we would see a psycho jhin fanboy
I'm kinda disappointed they didn't make take jhin's fan boy from the Soul fighter visual novels, Sommner, and use him to reference Hwei...
1:35 “we’re not that different, you and I”
I had my doubts but gotta say they really did great with him the voice lines are amazing
His voice is truly calming. I like his personality.
I don't know if it's intended or not, but I'll still point out that he is a painter using colourful paints and all, yet his name is pronounced like 灰 huī, which is Chinese for grey
In the art pieces released for him everything is filled with color except him in his travels!
A Kennen interaction was something I was not expecting. Everything else was expected.
First-Encounter - Samira:
My name is Hwei and there's a giant demon that's about to resurrect and i need YOUR help to stop it.
Kill - Aatrox: while Thy branches mix with Mine. And Our roots Together join.
Idk why, but its so touching
He definetely looks like those artists who work for Disney in a dark basement for Monopoly money.
lmao
Any artist tbh, i relate to him
oh they went hard with this one. i love it already
The VA absolutely killed it
Just wait Legends of runeterra players, we get even more lore with him hopefully in a couple months! IMAGINE THE FOLLOWERS, THE LEVEL UP HOOOOO
voice actor nailed it, perfectly put emotion into every line
Jhin and Hwei have tension and I'm here for it
can't help but picture dan heng from HSR xD
"this sanctuary... IS BUT A VISION"
BREAK
BREAK!
You poor broken boy...Someone give him a hug
My god… my second man after Aphelios
You clearly have a type and I respect that
Even tho he has 9 basic abilities they seem tame so i think he will be fun and kinda balanced to play
Gods his voice is beautiful
He sounds like he's about to cry every time he speaks. Gosh, he's such a sad wet little emo meow meow (affectionate). 😂
His dialogue is beautiful, especially those long moves. And the champion interactions are so plentiful with nearly all the Ionians. I wish he had ones with Xayah and Rakan, maybe instead of Vex and Sona.
Hwei: 50+ unique voicelines
Rammus: OK
Hwei be giving us some good life lessons in his voicelines.
8:15 "Why can't I paint exactly what I imagine"
The art student experience.
I'm not a player of league in the main series, moreso the side games like Ruined King, Song of Nunu and LoR and I love reading up on the lore and backstories for the champions. But I love the connection Hwei has to Jhin! Can't wait to see any official written works that will be released for Hwei!! And the VA did a stellar job! I think it's Stephen Fu? Sounds a bit like Diamant from from FE Engage.
It is Stephen Fu
i really love how he just cries after he kills someone. 5:08
I love him so much! ❤ my next Dnd character for sure
'art is meaningless without empathy' says a lot about what he thinks about jhins art but i also feel he doesn't really dislike jhin or his art
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH THANK YOU RUOT! Bring back the plethora of voicelines man
I love it when characters talks to Sona ngl, And i also like how he comments on Ahri still mourning her past artist lover (if i am guessing right at least)
"dont leave me alone, again" is just sooooo sad
There is not enough words to describe how much i love this character. Can't wait to play him.
Suddenly convinced that this champ is for me. 😮
Hes kinda a bit on the nose with some things, but i like the idea of an adaptable, deep, and ironically simple character.
Really amazing voice acting. Excited for this character
