Gold from one BGA chip plated out on steel wool | Electrowining process | Gold bonding wires

- Testing a different method to dissolve gold bond wires from electronics exclusively BGA chips to observe weather it's possible to dissolve gold in this state or not.
In this method gold dissolved successfully and recovery through electrowining process, Gold plated on steel wool and recovered by digesting the wool in Hydrochloric acid.

Awesome video! One recommendation though:
Burn the carbon rod with a torch once it’s extracted. There are eletroky😢embedded in it that can cause issues with contamination, as well as having a larger cleaner surface area :)
Thanks for the tip... Yes it seemed sticky to the touch...
@@PickyPlans you’re welcome! Let me know how it goes!
Very good and clean, from what I have seen those chips contain 15-30mg gold/chip dependent on make and age, to get 26mg from one seems to be what you would expect so successful experiment for sure! I have doubts on whether this would scale up well without removing ashes on larger batch, ashes would need a very thorough wash after filtration
Thanks you!
Scaled up process has 3 main drawbacks. Carbonates in the ash would manipulate system pH stability.
It would need very effective mixing instruments.
Washing the ashes is gonna be a pain...as you mentioned
It needs vacuum pump with a big Buchner/ sintered glass funnel.
Excellent testing 😃
Thank you Janie 😊
Hy how ara i relly love your vidéos
Îuse very pure sodium metabisulphite not like the one used in industry do you think that only it can infect the presipitation
Thanks You!
I think you can dissolve it in water and filter it first. Then use the solution.
Plz make a video about recovery all metal from same solution.
You can either cement it with a more reactive metal, or do selective dropping by making the ph more alkaline and get the hydroxides.
Hello my friend, congratulations on the channel! Great research on the bge chip! I have a question, what is the scientific name for gold pickling powder? And how to get it? A big hug from Brazil!
Hello, Thank you mate 🙏🌹
I discussed it in this video

I make it myself, it's based on cyanide though, you need to have enough experience with this stuff, before use.
nice but that gold needs to be refined
Thanks for watching 🙏
Gold yielding from the electrowining process has high purity. According to the last karat test 985 or 23.6 was the karat.
I also did lose some of gold about 4 milligrams .
Since 34 mm BGA chips yield 30 mg of gold.
Hello, interesting method... As I see in other video, stripping powdwer is kinda cyanidid... Is possible electrowining from AR solution? Or from aurochloric complex solution (reconstituted from syrup)?
Thanks mate!
You can do it in acidic solutions but there is a big issue with that ...
You should not expect to get pure gold... according to Standard electrode potential of gold (+1.5 v)
If you try to accomplish this process you will get a metals mix (all metals with lower Ev like copper)so it needs further refining. Also you have to deal with anode corrosion in the chloride solution. ( so you should do it with pure aurochloric solution and with a gold bar as the anode or graphite)
Witam i pozdrawiam serdecznie z Polski 🇵🇱👍👍👍
🙏🌹
Assume there are more metals in this solution. Such as silver, copper, tin, zinc etc. How can all other metals be recovered?
What type of materials have been processed? Where do those mixed metals come from?
@@PickyPlans a gold plated pins. Mostly RF conectors. there is 0.29% silver, 61% coper, 32%zinc, 0.44% nickle, others tin and lead. Gold is 0.20%. i have 10kg materials. How can i process them for all king of metals?
Have you done a XRF test on it?
New RF connectors don't yield more than 0.5 g per kg
@@PickyPlans yes i did two times for confirmation
In this stripping method only silver and gold would be dissolved. Other metals remain untouched, needed to be processed using acid.
You could have crushed that by hand.
