I like the idea of Jumanji the video game, though not so sure about the execution since it seems extremely repetitive and not very exciting (I think a wider range of mini-games would've been a better choice)... though I can appreciate the devs doing actual dangers from the movie.
Also: where's Kirsten Dunst?! :D

I agree, the minigame loop seems like it would get draining and that there wouldn't be much replayability.
I agree too. It was good for knowing the game (tks Stumpt) but it's not a game that i see myself playing. The gameplay is really repetitive. Catch me for the nostalgia but not enough.
i'd play it literally once and after the second round starts i'd be like "Wait, this is it?! REFUND!"
But in the board game you literally just roll a dice with the item symbols on it. But you only had 30 seconds and you only needed to roll the correct item once. It's basically the same concept but expanded.
@@sugalumps3447 I'm not sure, but are you referring to an ACTUAL boardgame? I only know one does exist in the real world, never played it so I don't know its mechanics.
What I was referring in my original comment was the game from the original movie with Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst and... those other two ^^' In it you rolled the dice and faced various dangers: some you could fight, others you needed to run away from etc.
I don't recall any symbols or the "30 seconds" to be present.
The minigames are so weird! At first, I thought you were gearing up to get ready for a battle with the carnivorous plants, then I realised that was the battle to move items either onto the enemies or your allies.
I know this will sound harsh, but I checked Steam, and this is a $13 game with a $35 Season Pass? How? Why?
Is this game in early release or something? It seems very unfinished and kind of just seems it was thrown together to capitalize on the movie as with like a lot of games
This game is not very interesting to watch, and will probably get old to play rather quickly.
The gameplay is roll some dice, then drag whatever item you get to wherever the icon matches to either attack enemies or build up your All-Out Attack. That's it. That's the game. Dragging whatever item you get to a matching icon.
The enemies don't do anything, so your only enemy is the clock.
The problem is all the scenarios have the exact same gameplay loop.
The newest version of it is a lot better. Instead of matching symbols, enemies have health bars, and instead of drawing vines, enemies will attack you with vines if you leave them alone for too long. Some items are super effective against enemies like flashlights against bats or rackets against giant mosquitos, but there are also ineffective items like water guns to a carnivorous pod. And you can’t spam either, there is an action point bar similar to elixir in clash royale.
Stage I pretty sure is a location such as town of Branford
Actually, those big reptiles at the Monsoon are actually Crocodiles.
i have read about how jumanji functions as a game and alan would not have died in that jungle because the game doesn't want anyone to die it's based on a book that's not scary so despite making the aspects of this game creepy, it's atleast willing to keep you alive. unless you're alan's parents and alans dad turns into the hunter guy.

Imagine the town is used to the game at this point, so they scattered small playing "stations" everywhere

I always wondered, is it a curse or does it exist to help people by making them overcome trials to grow as people? Either way, this version of the game seems… meh. Very repetitive and not much for the mechanics.

@@caltheuntitled8021 neither the movie nor the source material depicted it and anything before that, and I knew what you meant. At the end of the day, it's fiction, and if the creator didn't write it, then that's the end of it. There's nothing beyond that except your imagination. If you want it to be something else before that, make it.

The newer version is better. Still a tad repetitive but at least it relies more on co-op.

In my opinion, this is the most boring way to make a Jumanji video game… the gameplay is very repetitive and didn’t look all that fun or exciting. I will say I’m a fan of the art style, I always like this look.
It's a remake of the real life Board game. It was boring as well..
@@sugalumps3447 yes, but if you put something to a video game medium like this, then just go for a 2D game of the board. If you’re gonna take time to add 3D models with some animation, add more than one repetitive mini game.
@@sugalumps3447 maybe during the mosquito parts you run around swatting them away, while dodging their lunges. For the stampede maybe you have to run away, crash bandicoot style, jumping over oncoming obstacles, and if you all trip, game over? For the alligators (or crocs, I never know the difference) some kinda Frogger thing, jumping over their backs to a finish line? Not the best ideas, but it’s something than just “match the items, next minigame… we match the items again. And again, and again. Okay, game over!”
