As you know, For a complete beginner to have 3 chord shapes down and effectively changing in between. Takes months. So, implementing any song that early can and would complicate. Sense of rythum and timing needs come along before a song in the first 3 practice sessions.. guitar will not be learned overnight guaranteed. The main thing is, do not get frustrated or let someone cause frustration. Just know with lots of quality practice time. And not trying to rush things. One will make their goal of learning guitar.
Great idea it gives time to change chords. I'm 76 started 2 yrs ago but I have still difficulty to change chords timely, so this is good practice. I can play songs easily with notes but adding chords still in process. Thank you.
Look up "Bm made easy" I only barre it when my G is barre. If doing open G chord use open Bm where you don't strum the top E, A bass strings. It still sounds good and easier to transition.
I retired at 47 years old. Thought I'd take up guitar. 3 years later, I've made my goal of becoming a really good Campfire Strummer. By Practicing 6 days a week 5 hours a day. Now, I'm not a good guitar player. Because pentatonic scales wasn't what I needed to know. So, can I wow someone with sweet lead lines No. But can I entertain at a backyard event. By Playing and Singing Songs.Yes, I can and do.. In the beginning, one doesn't need a top of the line 3500.00 guitar .. I know this because I did just that. But one does need a guitar with the correct nut width, scale length, neck profile and body size for their body and hand size.. and get the guitar set up (action lowered). If one gets a cheap, badly built guitar at the start. It can increase ones chances of giving up and never picking the guitar up again. So, research guitars and ask sales associates to play them for you. So you can hear them. And tell them to be honest and not just try to sell you on a cheap (toy) guitar that doesn't have an interesting sound.. do not get frustrated. And just know that with proper knowledge and steps taken along with quality practice time. You will reach the goal of guitar..

As a beginner I have enjoyed your videos very much. Thank you
It is extremely important to include songs in the first 2 or 3 beginner lessons. 50 years of teaching with great results

Totally agree, preferably songs that the student wants to learn. That is what helped me. I picked songs that I liked, and then practiced it.
Solid advice for any beginners out there

Thank you , finding this very difficult. I’ll put it. Into practice 🎶🎸
At my age, I can't quit... I don't have the time to start again.

Great tips. Ive been playing for 50 years and can play most barre chords except B! My pinky can't do it cleanly. So frustrated! Any tips?
James Bm Barre is kicking my arse, what is the best way to learn faster switching between Bm Barre and G? Cheers.
Look up "Bm made easy"
