About: Dr. Om J Lakhani dives deep into the understanding and practical usage of C-peptide in the clinical realm. Join us as we explore its importance in diabetes management and diagnosis.
🔍 Overview:
What is C-Peptide? A by-product of insulin production, C-peptide is a clear indicator of insulin secretion. Learn how it's processed from proinsulin and its significance in determining endogenous insulin production or the need for exogenous insulin treatment.
Indications for C-Peptide Testing: From evaluating insulin reserves in diabetics to distinguishing between different types of diabetes, discover the pivotal role of C-peptide testing in various clinical situations.
Testing Methods: Dive into the different ways C-peptide can be measured, be it in blood or urine. Find out why the stimulated test stands out as the gold standard.
Interpreting Test Results: How does one interpret C-peptide levels? From understanding insulin deficiency to differentiating between diabetes types, get a comprehensive view of what the test results signify.
Key Takeaways: Grasp the essence of C-peptide testing, its importance in assessing beta cell function, and its combined efficacy with autoantibody testing to determine diabetes type and treatment protocols.

She is on basal bolus
Takes Insugen R 12 - 12 - 8
Basalog 20
Labs 10/12/2024:
FbS: 52, PPBS: 306, HBA1C: 13.5, Fasting C-PEPTIDE: 0.94 ng/ml
Fasting INSULIN: 226. 74 (High)
Urine ACR: 149
Electrolytes/Creat/LFT: normal
Low Vit-D
She has recurrent morning hypoglycemia
Labs 29/11/24:
Fbs: 327

Sugars are labile and unpredictable is what the caretaker said
Which type of diabetes she has?
What adjustments in insulin can be done?
Good candidate for a hybrid close loop pump if they can afford
@EndocrinologyIndia Thank you Sir.
What about the type of Diabetes she is afflicted with, given her c-peptide of 0.9 which is more than 0.6 and FBS of 52?
My cpeptide is 2ng/ml....fbs 86mg/dl. Hba1c 5.7%. I eat low carb and hba1c stays in 5%-5.4%
