For just $20, I bought a slab of live-edged maple. I bought a wall cabinet, will add casters to the bottom and the maple on top. I am making my own kitchen island. It is a tiny kitchen, so this gives extra storage and can be rolled out of the way when necessary, or even moved to use as a serving cart. I bought butcher block oil to give the wood a food-safe surface.
oh I love that idea! Kitchen Islands on casters is the way to go!

Hi from Missouri! Yes, our thrift store prices have definitely increased! Habitat for Humanity's prices increased, but are not as bad, so we thrift there. My son's inlaws just bought a brand new dryer for $50 from Facebook Marketplace just today.
The habitat for humanity here has skyrocketed in price. I use to love shopping there. Now they sell pieces very close if not exactly retail price. It's ridiculous.

We moved to Phoenix during the pandemic. We were completely shocked when we went to a Goodwill store here. The prices are outrageous! Not to mention the fact that their sorters are letting clothing items hit the floor with terrible stains, rips, and sometimes even with parts of the fabric cut out. I just don't go any more.
Even the local Habitat for Humanity stores have high prices. Some things are reasonable, but mostly things are priced around 25-40% off full retail prices. It's very discouraging when you don't have a lot of money to spend on necessities.
We don't shop at Goodwill very often anymore due to the prices.

We're trying to purge our home so I'm not in the market for more "stuff", but I will remember to check them out if/when I'm ready to change-out what I have 😋I just love you so much and am thrilled that we'll one day meet, and be together forever ✝

I love thrift stores and repurposing stuff. Love your ideas keep bringing them. Unfortunately some people are on a budget and can’t afford the higher end of things, so this makes it affordable.

The piano is definitely my favorite & I prefer the stumps
I like the stump table but mostly because I really like the black legs with the tones of the wood. One warning I have is always ask if the item has any fabric has it ever been stored outside. A friend gave us a beautiful rug she had store in her garage. The next Spring we had an infestation of cloth moths. It took me over a year of traps, steam washing all my rugs and bagging all the clothes in space bags to air seal to kill them off. We still see an occasional one and we all jump up to kill it. Yes I lost several very nice sweaters before we realized what they were. 😢
I like the stump but really both are fabulous. The project reminded me of the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I can’t even read that book without crying 😢

We got a free piano from an apartment complex that lived in its lobby for decades. My son LOVES it and uses it nearly daily for the last 6 years :)
Love the thrifted buffet! The decoupage on doors is gorgeous! The dollar tree knobs are adorable, but I feel like it would look more high end if you use brass ones. 😊

The thrift stores around here have gotten very expensive, especially the goodwill.
Right now, I am sitting on a wonderful couch that was free on Marketplace. We have even gotten free building materials such as ceramic tile, plywood, new flooring, etc. Yardsales and marketplace have been our go to lately
Yes thrift stores (Goodwill being the main one) has increased so much! They price things higher than what I can get it for brand new!! I swore them off a few years ago!

I think both tables look great, different but great. Facebook is good sores, but around here, you have to be really quick to be first. You also need to stay aware of scams, because there are a lot of them. Thrift stores have gotten so high on things that you can sometimes find it online new for the same or less.

I’m from Florida and I bought a wicker chest, two dressers, two night stands and a large mirror for $225 from Facebook marketplace! A little spray paint and it looks brand new!
I agree, I feel like Thrift stores took advantage of the fact that they got to be open during COVID-19 and jacked all their prices back up and they haven't dropped down. We have Goodwill stores, Salvation Army stores and Maj-R-Thrift and all 3 of them have raised clothing prices by $1-3 for most items and rarely have decent discount days. Even when they have excess inventory. Plus they are watching for high end brands and those items now start at 9.99 and go up. Rarely find "gold mine" anymore and usually still have to launder, clean or repair things. I love FB marketplace. We also have several buy,sell,trade sites and a cpl of $1 start auction sites. Love both tables

I made a stumps with a wood round from lowes and used dollar tree paper towel holders to mimic hairpin legs
Hello from Cincinnati. Yes thrift store prices have went up here too. I was always a bit afraid to buy from FB market place but when I finally made my first purchase I was addicted. I found a writing desk.The couple had it for years but I don’t think they ever used it. Honestly it’s the nicest piece of furniture I have.

I'm from Rockford, IL. I've gotten beautiful sturdy bookshelves, gorgeous area rugs, super high end ones. I've also gotten a recliner, leather chair and a dining set!!! Only way I could afford to shop for new furniture.💜😏

I love close to Nashville TN and furnished my entire house using Facebook market about 5 years ago and have used it ever since
My mom got our piano back in the 1970s, I’d guess. It was an upright player piano that had the player guts removed. Over the years, it was painted mustard yellow, then avocado green. Then in the 1980s, when natural wood colors were starting to come back, she decided to strip it. She told the story that she assigned everybody a job to do that week and made it her goal to come home from work every day and work on stripping that piano. It turned out absolutely gorgeous. She even found the label for the brand of piano, which she almost accidentally removed, but was able to get most of it, stuck back on. When our parents passed away, and we auctioned off their house and contents, we did not save the piano, and I don’t think that it sold at the auction.

Yes, I've noticed all the prices going up BIG TIME at all my thrift stores. All the items are donated, I think they're just taking advantage of clever people like u who can re-do things! It's a bummer tho, cause finding the "hidden gems" at low cost was 1/2 the fun! Great projects in this video, the buffet was my favorite!

In NC like you and I'm finding that the Goodwill prices are outrageous and they no longer do the color discounts here, BOO! I found an Italian leather sectional sofa with ottoman on Marketplace in like new condition for $250! An excellent purchase. I also found a dark brown suede sectional in very good condition for $75 for my den. My only issue is that I don't own a truck :-( Love your videos!!

I found a lot of my furniture on Facebook Marketplace. I got a table and two bench seats for $5, and bought two matching chairs (separate seller) for $10, so a full set for $15. It needed some scrapes fixed so we used putty and furniture stain pens. In fact, the only furniture in my house we bought new was our bed and futon and a couple of cubbie shelves. Most of what we got was $10 or less with a lot being free.
I absolutely love both tables. I think they compliment each other. I'm a short person and when I sit in a chair I want a short table next to me so I can see where I'm laying or sitting something, being able to grab without straining my neck to look up. So I love both of those. Good job.
FB Marketplace in Australia is a great place for pre-loved goods as well Kathryn. We purchased a chocolate brown bed head (near new) for only $50, which in the shops would have been well over $200. Such a great find! 🤗🤩

I'm from Florida, on Facebook marketplace I got a whole four piece bedroom set for $300. A full size bed, two dressers, and a nightstand in good condition. An amazing deal! It probably would have been over $700 in a thrift store.

I love the decoupage piece, but I don’t think those crystal knobs really go with it. The style of the knobs seems to be fighting with the style of the decoupage and the rest of the piece.

I purchased a beautiful oak dining table with a leaf and six chairs for only $125 on Marketplace! The thrift store prices are such that I only shop on 50% or more off days to make it reasonable.

Girl, I have used Facebook marketplace for years. I furnished my last house on Facebook marketplace. Just recently I purchased an L-shaped desk for $30 and the lady delivered it to me because I’m legally blind and cannot see to drive and have no transportation. The very next day I found a perfect recliner For 20 bucks and the guy brought it to me because of my vision. Are you have to do is ask. I love marketplace.💞
