Thank you! One of the most informative videos outhere about this car. % of time with engine off is impressive. I guess this type of driving results in a relaxing, smooth, and enjoyable experience and much less nosier than in my 2007 2G Prius.
Could you do the same test but for all driving conditions (city, suburban, highway)? I am very curious to see how the new 1.8l engine with more eletric power compares with the old one in terms of fuel consumption.
Hello ! I just got my new Corolla Sedane 2023 with 225/45/R17 wheels. So the car came from factory with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 050 C/C/68dB and when I picked up the car, the tyre pressure was 2.7 bars. I was able to achieve consumptions of 3.3-3.8 L/100 km driving as efficient as possible. Now I switched to winter tyres Michelin Alpin 6 C/B/69dB and I put the tyre pressure 2.3 front and 2.1 back as suggested on the driver's wall. The car was feeling very weird, I was not being to achieve any consumption under 5 L/100km with the same driving style. I went and I put the maximum indicated pressure that is 2.6 in all the wheels and now I can achieve 3.8 - 4.5 L/100km while driving the same. Under what tyre pressure and with what kind of tyres did you do your test ? I really appreciate your videos ! Keep you the good work !
Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately this test was made on a presentation, which means I did not have opportunity to check the pressure. But, I am sure, it was no higher than maximum. I checked (few times) how tyre pressure affects fuel consumption and I did not notice higher difference than 5%, and this 5% was when the pressure was lower than it should have been. You have to remember there is plenty other things that influence the final fuel consumption, like humidity e.g. I had some problems with too high consumption in different cars many times. When I tried make the same test next day, the fuel consumption was much lower. Unfortunately this is not laboratory environment...
@@1001cars Thanks for the reply. I am willing to test the car with different tyre pressures, with the winter tyres, taking in consideration the outside temperature and humidity. In the spring when I switch back to the summer tyres i will test it again. I will come back with my results here.
When we talk about 2.0 Hybrid, it is much better in how easy it is to drive in efficient way. 1.8l Hybrid is much stronger, but the consumption is better by a little bit.
@@1001cars How much better is the new 1.8l consumption vs the old? I read it should be about the same, but I would expect it to be better since the eletric motor is more powerful now and so the car should be able to run more time on eletric.
More impressive than fuel economy was the fact that apart for the truck in the first part of your drive, you had almost no cars in front of you to slow you down for the entire video. I wish my city was like that. Its almost looks like they local government closed the roads just for you on this drive 😂
fuel consumption is almost the same, the new one has better behavior in some scenarios, but 5th generation is much stronger and feels much more dynamic.

don't want to burst your bubble but i already got 3 full tanks at 3.35, 3.34 and 3.37 l/100 km (at the pump, the BC showed 2.8 l/100 km) in an Auris 2015 pre-facelift... once the engine on this one will be run in, i think 2.8 is totally achievable (as a minimum mpg in optimum conditions).
@@1001cars I dont know if its possible with the Auris. My best result for a complete tank was 3,5 liter, with my Corolla 1.8 Hybrid Hatchback pre facelift. Also calculated by the fuel pumps. But if you want to drive with full car on long distances, also at high speeds like 130/140 km/h the difference in dynamics is significant.
