Nice to see Troubleshooters get mentioned. It is one of the best turn based tactical rpg I have played with a story and character depth that greatly suprised me. The english localisation is remarkably good for a game made by a korean indie team.
I recommend TroubleShooter to everyone. Its amazing game, easily the best in terms of bang for your buck title I ever bought. Great characters and story, amazing character customization, hundreds of hours... I have 250hours already on steam just after starting first dlc (after finishing base game) but still I have ton of stuff to do from base game and dlcs. I think I'll easily squeeze 80-100hours more. Super underrated game. Not many people know about it which is a shame (game could really use better marketing) and from what I know, they are working on thr sequel in Unreal Engine 5 :D
Really nice list. The fact that you Put "The Last spell" Up there, Made me buy this Game now. Tactics ogre was pretty awesome as Well, really recommend that one to all Turn based Lovers out there. (It even has a pretty tough final Boss Fight)
@@mariozimmermann7307 yea man, i read that wartales got inspired from that game, but the art style / graphic make my appetite to play to zero. I know it's not the main thing, but still lot of games out there with great graphic, great story, and great gameplay, and one of them is Wartales.
Solid list. I have to say though, that I personaly didn't like Wildermyth, altough I've seen it listed on some top lists. The estetics are great for about 5 minutes. The stories are mediocre at best, and the legacy system is a joke. Characters that cross multiple stories have no recollection of previous events, like they never happened. Story sequences get repeated over and over again with the same exact dialog over multiple stories. I wonder if ppl that praise the game actually played it. On a positive note, Symphony of War was a great surprise. Had an absolute blast with it. And hope that it gets a sequel
I absolutely love Dungeon of Naheulbeuk and I started Troubleshooter recently and it has been my new addiction. I wish there were more games just like these two. I personally don't need a ton of party members or crazy character creation options. Give me a compelling storyline and enough turns and twists that Idk what to expect (with a good combat system) and I'll be fine. I recommend these two for sure. I put about 90 hrs into Naheulbeuk (I actually beat it and then beat it again immediately afterwards (the first time I have ever done that for a RPG). Troubleshooter I am around 25 hrs atm. But it looks like it will go over 200 at this rate.
I recently saw your video about "Symphony of War". At first I was not convinced, but then I ended up falling in love. It is a good example of how great things can be done with few resources. It is incredible and addictive. So thank you very much for showing it. 🥰 And "Showgunners" has been quite a surprise. Although it was short-lived (or I played very intensely) I have enjoyed it a lot, both the exploration and the combat. 👏 Without detracting any game, and waiting to try "Midnight suns" and "Wartales", I'll stay with "King Arthur". His tactic combats, history, unit/resource management and duration are on another level. 😍 I miss "Disciples: Liberation" on your list. I think that game has been a bit underrated 😔
Yeah i had same esperancie with Symphony at fits meh another game made in RPG Maker then id try it out and yeah game is super good, for me the part with building ur own units/squads was what sold me i love o play around with the set up even if it mean just a bit more hp/dmg or one more person to fit in the squad. Beat a mission great now to have fun with squad management for almost 30min (time sure fly when ur having fun)
Such a great vod... so many great games but i have to say it as much as i love some tittles in there like Symphony, Eidolons or Triangle... the troubleshooter takes the cake for me (i do have 1200+ h in it and im not even close to the real pros in that game) still love the 2D graphic in some of the titles the 2d games still can be mature and not candy games as some may say Triangle did make stop and think about the bigger picture way to many times and Symphony (are we the bad guys moments hahaha). Yet again great work.
Great list. Beat most everything on it that's available on console and can confirm they're all mostly great in one form or another. A little surprised Diofield Chronicles didn't make it but that doesnt really detract from the overall list. Never played Showgunners though. Looks interesting will see if it's on console or runs on my steamdeck.
Thanks, i must admint i didn't try Diofield Chronicles yet. But in this list real-time ones are not allowed :) Regarding Showgunners, i don't know if it works on Steamdeck, no mentions on the Steam page. Anyway thanks for your comment :)
wartales is so good and at the same time intuitive, if someone recommends games with tactical combat very similar or the same as wartales I would be very happy
I hope we get another pathfinder game after wrath of the righteous I love those games, but maybe with like new skills and powers and stuff would be cool
A great list to see all the recent games, shame that there's still quite a few that hasn't found their way to consoles (Playstation). Some feedback: The video footage changes to the next game too early, in my opinion, as you are still talking about the previous one. I'd hope you show the game you are talking about and then change to the next one, perhaps with few seconds of only gameplay, then continue narrating!
@@TurnBasedLovers It was somewhat distracting to have you still talking about the previous game while showing the next. Nice for a change but I hope it's not a permanent feature Marcello. Apart from that it was a fantastic video and I agree with just about all you said. I'm most looking forward to May 26th for the Ice Palace dlc for Solasta as it will finalise the Crown of the Magister campaign. I think Solasta is my favourite game overall.
Midnight Suns is a game that really should have sold better - absolutely amazing game and fun to play. Easily my favorite game for 2023 and the hours I've played it bear that out. I would not agree that the story was 'forgettable' - it gets better as you go. I will admit the start is almost juvenile. I do think it was overpriced - $100 for the Legendary edition is ridiculous. It should have been closer to what I paid on sale, $60.
14:41 is like a shot straight out of XCOM 2 War of the Chosen. As for everything else, the only game I've enjoyed on this list is Lost Eidolons. I can wholeheartedly recommend it, but I didn't like that quite a few of the main characters gets killed during the game, without the choice of saving them.
I was waiting for a list of Tactics RPGs by you. Tks man : )
Grazieee :)
Nice to see Troubleshooters get mentioned. It is one of the best turn based tactical rpg I have played with a story and character depth that greatly suprised me. The english localisation is remarkably good for a game made by a korean indie team.
They improved it :)

Awesome list..One I would add as well is Jagged Alliance 3..That one is a good time also.
Really nice list.

The list is sorted by release date. From old to newest. Anyway The Last Spell is awesome :) I love itsthe concept art
I got sucked into WH40K Chaos Gate: Daemonhunters, and will be again soon.
Great :)
WARTALES EAT THEM ALL
Indeed 👌👍
wartales is a masterpiece!! Too bad it's underrated and doesn't get the attention it deserves!!
Until you played Battle Brothers!

@mariozimmermann7307 battle brothers wipes the floor with wartales. I really hope they do a bb2. Fingers crossed for Menace
You put Solasta on this list?!
I freaking love you.
Wasteland 3, Gears Tactics, Divinity: orginal sin 2, Miasma Chronicles and The lamplighters league.
Great selection of yours :)
I have almost all game that was mentioned here. :)) Nice video.
That's why you are a turn based lover right !? :) Grazie mille
You video lists are getting better and better with each year! Thank you for making this!
Thank you amico. :) Your tips are inside each of my video :)

Wow, I've watched a lot of these collection of "games you should play." This is one of the best ones I've ever seen.
Perfectly paced, well done dude.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
Good list, but the most interesting ones, don't provide character builder nor customisation :(
Great list, awesome games. Thank you!
Ciao. Thanks 😊😊👌👌
Solasta has great Tactical Turn Based Combat. Nice Gem!
Nice list! :)

I can relate. At first Symphony of War looks like nothing more than a basic RPG maker but behind it there's an addictive and complex experience :)
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it :)
20 best tactical RPGs. Pretty much all I haven't seen before. These are from the last two years, so finished.
Great list. 👍
Grazie mille :)
Great list! have added the couple I don't own to my wishlist!
Nice, glad to be helpful :)

What's the game at the start of the intro?
Tactics ogre. One of the best games of all time

symphony of war and last spell are absolutely amazing!

Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Marcelo where are you, man? Where have you gone?
I'm here 👍💪
Very much recommend wasteland 3 and hard west I played both on release and loved them

Hahaha Andrea buongiorno. Mi dispiace di farti spendere soldi!! :) Cmq grazie mille per tutto il supporto :)
I hope we get another pathfinder game after wrath of the righteous I love those games, but maybe with like new skills and powers and stuff would be cool
I can relate. For now you have to settle with Warhammer Rogue Trader....maybe it's not that little right?
I think you nailed the list. Still looking forward to a few unreleased for later this year
Thanks amico :)

Hmm... A couple of good games missing here: redemption reapers and front mission 1st remake.
Yeah, quite a challenge to list all the goodness out there :)
amazings games nice video
Grazie Daniel :)
You forgot to mention Battle brothers
Battle Brothers is simply amazing. One of the best ever tactical RPGs but it's not in the list because it's from 2017.
@@TurnBasedLovers The Iron Oath is from 2023 and would be worthy of your attention in my opinion...(thx for the list anyway, very helpful)
Thx!
Grazie a te Harry :)
Lost Eidolons the best game for me on this list
wasteland 3 is great
I hope that we have soon the fourth game
Yeah, great game. Not so complex but not so basic. The perfect balance :)
I had forgotten the name of wartales and was searching everywhere for it this is the video where i found the name thank you
I love xcom like game how i never heard of gears tactic tho. quick research the game are 2 years old..
Yeah, time flies :) Anyway go give the game a try. It's good :)
wartales is so damn good
Love Wartales but the EA was so so much better..
You mean the Early Access was better?
only missing kings bounty 2.
pathfinder is so hard 😭
Agree, a little bit complex :)
Let me add GLOOMEHAVEN to the list. It is one of the most challenging and fun trpg Ive played so far with nice story telling
