Hi Robert thanks for the shout out on the Calypso. This was my contribution to this excellent showcase - what an awesome display of models by everyone. The Calypso was quite a challenge to build due to some missing parts and instructions that are not easy to follow. Believe it or not, I actually hand painted the hull using Vallejo paints as I can’t airbrush to save my life! Anyway well done Jason and thank you for your time putting this together. Happy new year and modelling to everyone.
@@philsreef746 Hi Phil Yes definitely very well done mate. My contribution is the work in progress SOLEIL ROYAL hand painted and weathered using enamels(old skool) probably the most intricate painting I have ever done considering I mostly build sailing ship models. As I say still work in progress but I have heavily improvised here giving her wooden decks, masts and yards as well as added architectural features amongst other things, I will be making and hand sewing my own sails for her also,so still a long way to go mate. @@artsmodeldockyard8718 Same here as I usually just build wooden ships. I also have the Soleil Royal kit from AL in my stash. Must admit I’m not looking forward to all the gold and blue painting. Yours looks terrific though. Currently I’m building the San Felipe from Occre.
