I just want to say it's so nice to see Rizzo get more into the podcast lately. I know this episode is a live EP with worlds having just happened so of course it'll be a good one. But in general I think he's been a lot more engaged the last 10 or so episodes than he was day 30 episodes ago where every episode he was barely talking and feeling disconnected. Just glad to see the whole gang vibing! Banger episode as usual and loved the Justin stream in the background (and his shinanigans)

Thankfully, I live in Texas, so getting to Ft. Worth only took about 4 hours. It was my first in-person RLCS experience, and it was AMAZING! We had so much fun, and Dickies Arena was a great venue (prices were a bit high, but...). I only wish some of the teams had MERCH available. I hope they do it again in the future, I'll be there 100%!

The mic sounds good guys, you just want to add a high-pass filter (or low cut, same thing) in OBS, and set it around 70-100hz, and it will kill a lot of that low rumble boom sound. Fantastic episode!
I think swiss into that format was perfect. felt PERFECTLY fair, and everyone got to see crowd, and either the crowd game was a knockout, or a top top team battling it out....just the way you want it as someone who watches.
For a side by side podcast, I'd recommend either getting each one a dynamic mic (makes it so only 1 person is heard), or to get a single shotgun mic thats facing all 3 of you (so that the mic can be placed further away but still hear everything clearly)
Imagine being Rise, switching to BDS last season to lose in the finals, change team afterwards, only to see that BDS win worlds again this season, yikes.
On the note of instability if players start pumping out content for the game, you are bound to get players like Boostio (Valorant pro) who say that they’re spending too much time on content and that the org (100T) doesn’t want them to win. I believe esports as a whole is just in an awkward state after Covid and the franchising disasters from cod and overwatch. Esports is its own online beast that has potential of revenue, but probably not to the likes of NFL or NBA status.

IMO it should be on the players more to help the org make more money. I think their should be an option. You don't wanna make content? cool then take a semi-significantly lower paycheck. Big content creator? okay you can make a bit more and if you go out and help us market, sell merch do more publicity stuff you can get bonuses or whatever.
This may be a bad take, but I think part of the problem with orgs not making a lot of money is the age of players too, I think that if the lowest age was 17 then you have players who will treat the esport as a job and have time for content etc.. We have to keep in mind half these players are still finishing high school and have other priorities in their free time. If you make them wait till they are adults players will be stay in the field longer and have the free time to make content and show more of their personality
Orgs could do 'fan sponsorships' where people pay to get their name on a jersey for tournament. Wouldnt solve the problem but it could be a way to start

The old NRG vids were good, then did challenges against each other, I mean Jstin nearly always won but thats not the point, they all seemed to be having fun, but stuff like that, take a leaf out of leths books and do maps/challenges ect
earlier seasons, where it felt like a season was year round was only 9 months, but in the 3 OFF months we got things like Summit WHICH LEADS TO US KNOWING PLAYERS AND LOVING PLAYERS, Johnny's tourney (killing me that i can't think of it) but was super competitive and at least two other small scrim tournaments for trying your new team out before the new season. that's how the RLCS needs to be. YEAR ROUND. 3 majors and a championship done in 9-10 months. then 2-3 months of shenanigans. Players having fun, players feeling each other out, and new rosters debuting/trying. and seeing how SSG got screwed so many times this past season, SOMETHING has to change. I'd almost forgo the "yeah bad day," and go back with set number of teams play each other for 3 weeks and decide the major. better than always playing one and two and being relegated to 8-12 before you get to play anyone new. the last two splits, don't allow for stories or for rivalries in a good way.
Why dont teams get together and employ a manager/coach on a piece-of-the-pie basis, the current business model is unsustainable for orgs, unless ur BDS or G2
Honestly it’s more of the way the rocket league pro scene is. It was a talking point throughout the season. Don’t be surprised if orgs drop from this esports

I've said for years now that RLCS's format is not sustainable in the long run because of the player salaries. Only the biggest orgs and those funded by the government (Falcons) will be able to pay the crazy salaries to build super teams over and over again. RLCS needs a salary cap if they value parity and org diversity over 3-4 orgs dominating the esport. I predict that eventually we will see 3-4 orgs that have multiple teams and control the esport completely. There's just no way for a small business org to compete with an org like Falcons that gets government funding. The current model works in the short term but there is no long term growth.
in terms of matches: YES! best Worlds! In terms of production quality: NO! not even close to last years in Düsseldorf Germany! the same lame game intro for every match... the same lame walk ins every match weak light show weak camera guidance
