  • Worst Nightmare After Fresh Install Of Windows 11
When doing a fresh install of Windows 11 or Windows 10, people are used to having all the drivers installed automatically by Microsoft, but this only happen's on branded motherboards like ASUS, MSI, ASROCK and GIGABYTE. I have a mini pc from Bee-Link and when I done a fresh install, no drivers were installed. This can be a nightmare for some people, because manafactures like Bee-link don't have a dedicated server to download all the required device drivers. I will show you a simple way to download all the required drivers you need for your computer.

This jogged my memory to when I had an 8.5GB DVD full of nothing but drivers, and then I would search that DVD if someone turned up with a machine, usually a laptop, with missing drivers. It was nowhere near guaranteed to work but it was the best I had. I think the OS was XP or it could have been 98, it's that long ago I can't remember.

It always used to be that any new reputable hardware manufacturer would send their drivers into Microsoft to be certified and added to the Microsoft database, I believe a cost might of been involved. Any cheap Chinese hardware manufacturer is unlikely to do this therefore you buy a cheap mini pc that has no chance of having any drivers picked up by Microsoft as these devices are not certified by anyone

If you don’t have the network driver, a nice dodge is to use a usb network dongle. Windows seems to cope with many different ones. (Good for Linux too)😊
Then you can find the computer network driver for your computer

Best thing to do IMO is clone / image your boot disk (SSD) when you boot up your mini PC for the first time after purchase. It's in perfect working order, and if anything ever goes wrong in the future you can just restore that initial image. Of course, you've got to regularly backup files and docs as time goes by.

1 tip... always have a live USB os like linux or Win PE to boot and dload network driver on the only pc.

    Probably a quicker way:
Now, 99% of new pc's come with a preinstallation image for win10/11 (mostly compatible as for drivers).
    - Run preinstallation
    - Find and copy hardware drivers
    - Install fresh no bloat windows (as Brian has taught us 👍 )
    - Update drivers from your copy
Worked fine to me quite many times.

Did a fresh install on a Acemagic ck11 (same result on both w10 or w11) and same thing happened...exact same devices too. Had to scour the interweebs for the drivers. Although I did finally found them, IMHO it did not make me feel like I could trust using this PC. Drivers were mostly Intel and one or two from Realtek. Again not trusting this mini PC, once I got it running, I boxed it back up and put it away. I'll be sticking to my Lenovo mini PCs.
Edit: Acemagic's website did not list drivers for the ck11 and I haven't checked recenly.

I used phone as a wifi adapter. Recently set up a laptop (Acer to be specific) and despite not having any OS, even FreeDOS, it had 4gb partition with drivers. Windows had driver for network, but i used local drivers first, then unassigned letter from that partition. Overall i like to work with laptops because they have all drivers in one place, some of them allow to bulk download.

If you are having problems recording videos on small computers, try recording to the DNxHR or DNxHD format. They are intra frame post-production formats and does little compression. Only downside, is large files. But they are way more easy to record and also to edit, as each frame is saved in full, instead of e.g. H.264 and H.265.
DNxHR LQ is well good enough and will outperform any H.264 and H.265 videos in quality - another benefit. The bandwidth is around 80Mbit/s, if I remember correctly. But don't let that scare you. As already mentioned, they are easy file formats to record and edit. Your editing PC will thank you.

Great production, Britec! I'm still on Win 10, mainly because of MS's shenanigans on Win 11. Regardless, I'm especially interested in drivers for older versions of windows. Sadly, they only offer from XP, which is great, but I have some builds still working from win3.1 and up, along with a few Win 98 units. I use them mostly for playing old games and programs that the newer OS's no longer support. My biggest concern, is if I try to download drivers on these specific machines, I'll need to connect to the Int, and I'm afraid of security. So far, I've been using them without connecting.

When I used to use Windows I always had to install every singe driver after a clean install of Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8 and also with Windows Vista. Most of my laptops were HP and HP always provide all of the installer files for the drivers. Which are in a folder on the C drive when you buy the laptop. So what I did was just back up that file buy burning it to a DVD but you can also use a USB drive to copy those files to. Then when ever I had to reinstall Windows I always had the CD in which I would install the drivers from. My other MSI netbook I had came with a CD which had all of the software including drivers on it. Other laptops such as Aser or Asus you can just download the drivers for your laptop and copy them to a DVD or USB. That way you have always got them when you need to do a reinstall of Windows. Now that I am using Linux there is not that problem because the drivers just work out of the box so I don't have to install anything. With Linux you can always test this out buy booting into a live CD which I always do first before any new install. Then if the sound, brightness and network is working you are good to go. It seems that Linux can detect the drivers you have got so you don't have to install anything. But whenever I have had to reinstall Windows not a single driver is installed. No sound, no graphics no network, nothing. I have always had to install everything myself from the drivers I have backed up on the CD. That has always been the case.

Hmm Brian mate having to install a driver for any form of hardware has always been a real gripe of mine simply because if a GPU is installed on a motherboard albeit a dedicated card or onboard graphics then it should work. To make an analogy tale your car for example and it comes with say Dunlop tyres on it the car should run- but the computer system of setting up indicates that the car's computer must have Dunlop tyres added to the car's computer system details before it will even let the car be driven, - sorry but It simply does not make any sense to me at least for drivers to have to be downloaded and installed before any computer will work properly.

Is the issue specific to mini PC's , I have installed windows many times and never had an issue with drivers . Much as I am inclined to take a default stance that Microsoft is the devil and usually responsible for any woes that befall us 😀. Surely if the makers are using non standard motherboards they should provide a driver back up on a disc etc or a direct link on their website with no need to sign up and get the drivers sent to them .

Windows 10 and 11 don't have on-board drivers for the NIC on my 500€ motherboard. Linux does.

Agreed, it is Windows. I keep Linux on external ssds and it boots up on any hardware I throw at it. Wore case scenario is when it installs open source drivers for nVidia cards when it finds one.

@@samshort365linux with kernel 5.xx is more a nightmare than Windows. Windows 11 has drivers for fairly old devices and hardware, as well as for the newest hardware. But Linux kernel 5.xx can't even see my USB Wi-Fi dongle,! Don't be a blind fanboy.
Linux is still far away to be a perfect desktop operating system for everyday use at home, offices and productions. Linux is indeed grate, but only for some specific use cases.
And in Windows, we always installed drivers since Windows 98, XP, Vista, 7... And the drivers could be found very easily, installation is easy... UNLIKE LINUX... where finding and installing a driver is another pain

The problem is not Windows 11, Beelink is a Chinese crap company. Support is horrible. Another reason to avoid these Chinese mini pcs.
