I have a Canon iP8720. The black cartridge light won't stay on. It's not the cartridge, it's the printer. Something wrong with the pins in that print head. If I hold down the cartridge, the light comes on, but it doesn't stay on if I release it. Is there a part I can purchase, and can I follow these instructions to replace that print head? The person at the authorized cannon repair shop doesn't seem to know how to fix this problem. Or is it possible to replace the entire cartridge unit? Thanks!
If it is still under warranty I think you should explore that option first, otherwise you will have to find a replacement PIn(part) either on Ebay or Alibaba/Aliexpress. You can also try Canon help center.
You have to use a new cartridge to clear the error. Only a new cartridge can clear the error. After clearing the error you can insert your old cartidges and continue printing.
Get all the catridges out and make sure there is no ink spill on the senor. you can dry with tissue paper. Alternatively, you can try another set of catridges.

I have 2 sets of an old original Canon cartridges, but still no blinking, tried with compatible cartridge still not blinking, is this the printer issues? or cartridge issues? It says service code 1660, the cartridge can not be recognized. I checked the pin output voltage is aroung 2.7V-3V. So there is a voltagfe between 5 pin on the printer, but can not trigger the led to blink. Any advise Sir? Thanks and Merry Christmas, GBU.
