i think this is the first time I hear someone complain about the perfect dodge animation being annoying during combat. Most people find it very satisfying, including me. A very strange point indeed.
Great video, my friend! I really appreciate how you integrate story and character analysis into your gameplay commentary-it’s super helpful and informative, especially for those unfamiliar with the source material. One thing I've noticed while watching various Black Myth: Wukong players is how everyone develops their own unique combat style. This really showcases how the game accommodates diverse playstyles, allowing players to tailor their approach based on personal preferences. For example, at 11:05, when you mentioned "You'll lead every single fight in the game by using Immobilize," I thought, "Hmm, interesting!" Personally, once I unlocked Spell Binder, I stuck with it. I've also seen a lot of players using the Ring of Fire to charge the Pillar Stance heavy attack to level 4-another popular strategy. Another point that caught my attention is how underutilized See Through is in your playthrough, despite being one of the most powerful mechanics I rely on. Basically, during a light attack combo, pressing heavy triggers a counterattack with Smash Stance or a backstep with Thrust Stance. From a game design perspective, it works similarly to parrying, rewarding players who’ve mastered the boss’s moveset. However, I personally prefer See Through over parrying since it doesn’t disrupt the flow of combat. Both variants of See Through provide generous i-frames, and further investment in the skill tree unlocks powerful follow-up attacks-an overhead smash or long-range thrust, respectively. Coming from a long sword background in Monster Hunter, this counter-based playstyle feels very intuitive to me. See Through is basically the Iai Spirit Slash (with less setup!) and Foresight Slash combined! In Wukong, some late-game bosses (e.g., Erlang and Wukong) have tricks to counter Immobilize or charged heavy attacks, but none can counter See Through, making it, in my opinion, the most reliable source of damage in late-game boss fights. Even in the early game, many bosses have delayed mid-combo or airborne lunge attacks that are practically designed to be countered by See Through, which makes me feel like the game subtly encourages this counter-based combat style.

A point about Yellowbrow, Spellbinder takes the spot of the vessel for this fight. He is resistant to most spells, even being one of the few that counters Pluck of Many by turning the clones against you. While using spellbinder, however, he wont ever turn gold and the increased damage more than compensates for the lack of spells (that wouldnt do much against him anyways). While chapter 3 doesnt have a secret area at first, the green capped martialist IS a required quest for the secret ending, so it does kinda make sense that his reward takes the place of the vessel.
That's a good point. In hindsight, I regret writing off spellbinder as boring. It definitely seems to fill the gaps in bosses that would counter other spells, making a more straightforward bossfight. I'll have to experiment more on my next playthrough

@IDontKnowAUsername4444 Wtf r u on about? Every review I've seen has given some complaints about the game. Those same channels also blindly glaze ER like it has no big problems either.
In what ways was this game trying too hard? It already has lore from the books that it builds upon. The story follows the souls style but not completely. Most bosses and npcs r unique. The fights r enjoyable. The core combat may be button mashy but it's still fun.
And a lot of games priced at $70 r also not 40hrs long so what's ur point?
It's pretty lame that this isn't on X Box!
It is now I think.
Ik I’m only 11 minutes in this vid but the constant complaining with immobilize is kinda pushing me off. Especially when there’s multiple bosses who has counters to the spell.
u play on ps5 right?
I mostly play on xbox, but use my ps5 for exclusives. I don't have the playstation plus service or anything
