Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed this video. A question: when I said “Have a good catch”, the man answered “I wish you no tail, no scales”, meaning the opposite, similar to “Break a leg!” in English. When I was writing the captions, I didn’t find an equivalent to this phrase. Can you share under this comment, what phrases do you usually say in English when you want to wish good luck to a fisherman? (And in other languages too). And another question: how do I ask a person about whether the fishing is successful today? In Russian we say “How is the biting today” - do you say it in English too?
Fishing - same here " Are they biting?" or maybe just " Are you catching anything ? " I thought that no scales comment had to do with him catching an eel which has no scales - ha ha . Probably would just say " Good luck !"
"are they biting today" is something i've heard here in U.S., but "I wish you no tail, no scales" is really an unique and classy statement. Great vid, reminds me of rural Arkansas close to the Mississippi River.
In English, we would say "How is the fishing today?" or "Have you caught anything today?". The fisherman might reply, "The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad." This reminds me of my hometown of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, Canada. We too had buses that only came twice a day, to take us to school or work and then bring us home. It is a very small town with almost no jobs. There was a lumber mill but it closed and the town became poor, but I love it. It's my hometown. I now live in the city of Vancouver and I hate it. Everyone is either in a rush or they are angry. The city is no good. Small towns are where life is. One day I hope I will go back. Thank you for the video... it was nice. Cheers...
We're all being herded into cities.... you think that's bad? I know villages here in Scotland which have one bus a day, or at least a service where you will be able to go one way, and have to get someone to drive you back.

It's very interesting because she didn't show or say anything that we didn't already know. I don't feel that I learned anything from the video but I watched it until the end and enjoyed it.
@@John-gv2ug What I mean is, we didn't see anything that we hadn't seen before in other places in the world. But it's Natasha's way of showing these things to us that makes it special, not so much the place it's self. @@SamsRussianAdventures Not necessarily special but different. Where I live ( south eastern Australia) we don't have "villages", all small settlements are called "towns", even if there are only a few people living there (I lived for a year in a place with less than 100 people but it was still called a town) and they don't look like this place. The landscape is very different to where I live and where I have been (western Europe, Malta, USA, Morocco, Egypt, New Zealand, Fiji), so, for me, it was new.

I return to watch this video because a few of its elements resonate with my own life. I worked in a cutting-edge research laboratory located in a rural area before when I felt like a cow 🐮 living on a funny farm (in this video, there was the old Soviet-time rice research station). I could almost understand what the two moos were about. "Until the cows come home."
Hi Natasha. The sky is hugh, stretching from low horizon to low horizon. There are no high landmarks. The sky is like a canvas on this video. There are many different shades of blue, grey and turquoise which may explain the predominant choice of colour for the man made structures. These are contrasted with emerald green foliage, darker grey waters and dusty metal roads with the odd animals thrown in to complete the rustic charm. Thanks for le tour.
One of the ways we wish a fisherman luck is to say "Hope you catch the big one." Just started watching your channel a few weeks ago. Really love your laid back and casual narrative.

Lovely video, as always. Very serene. You have a reflective, gentle, and objective way of looking at what's in front of you and describing it. And you always put what you observe in a broader, meaningful context, such as historical or cultural. I enjoyed your video. You speak English very well and are easy to understand. The places you show us give a real and true picture of your country we never get to see.
The photo of you as a young girl fishing is so sweet!! I hope your childhood was one of happiness and only fond memories!! My grandparents lived in a very rural area and had no indoor plumbing until I was around 10 years old. Even then, there was no hot water and taking a bath required heating water on the stove to add to the cold water in the tub. They had a well right outside their old wooden house but I recall going into the small town with my grandfather to fill up huge barrels from a metered pump that took quarters (25 cents) for a large number of gallons of water. Although many conveniences were not available, I spent many weekends during school months and almost all summer staying at my grandparent's house. Those were some of the best times of my life!!
Today is my birthday and thank you Natasha for this beautiful portrait of the Russian - almost Chinese- bucolic countryside, a very nice present. I love the calm of these outskirts, it seems a postcard from another world where time has stopped 🤗🥰
These videos are so comfy. The views alone would be a bit depressing (maybe because it reminds me to my country...) but with your commentary and your mentality that you can find the beauty in everything makes it so good. So yeah, I love it.
Comfy is a good way to describe it. Even though I lived in Russia for nearly 30 years I discover something new from Natasha's videos. What country would that be, if you don't mind me asking, Tonyo?
Same thing all over Russia. Sadly. Villages are in in dire straits. This one looks almost identical to my aunt's village in Kurgan Oblast. Even though they're a few thousand km apart. Young people are leaving. As much I as try to present rural Russia in a good light the reality is that people are barely surviving and things are falling apart. Nonetheless good video Natasha!
Russian Plus Are the Young People leaving their home town or village because there is no employment for them and or they want to live in a more populated area for a better chance to meet someone and where entertainment is more available.I saw a video on Romania and Belarus and the same thing is happening there. In some cases the men had to leave their families for the summer and travel some distance to find work, it is sad to see this happen.
This pattern is true everywhere. Villages and rural areas are rapidly depopulating, many places will eventually become ruins. This is true in Russia, across much of Europe and the US, in Japan, and even in China.
@@pineapplesareyummy6352 it was happening in Australia too but because of Covid19 there has been a shift of people wanting now to buy property and housing in the country areas.
Jobs are in the city, and in the last 100 years people value money more than a happy quiet life. Also, farming efficiency means large farmers are profitable. Small farmers can't make a living.
Well, something needs to be done about it. Policy makers need to put their heads together and find solutions. They need to make it too expensive to work and employ in big towns and create incentives for people to work and employ others in the countrysides.
Thank you for this! Long ago in the Great Patriotic War the Russian people defeated Hitler when I was a child. Without Natasha's narration, thus video would be boring. In fact, even with the narration of somebody else, this video would not be interesting I guess. Thank you for the video, Natasha. I enjoyed every second of it. When you were there, the weather suited the atmosphere perfectly. And the background music also fitted well. Maybe interesting to do if you somehow you visit this location once more.

Especially as Natasha was opening with "today i'm gonna fish" i was like. ooh, what a catch that would be.
Hello
Really charming. The fish, the cows, the people. Didn't want it to end.

It's so interesting that she didn't really show us anything but it's the way that she presented the video that made all the difference.

Loved this! I’ve recently come across your channel and subscribed. I enjoy watching your videos and your witty sense of humor! Love from 🇺🇸
Thank's Natasha, that was fun. It is fascinating when we realize that our understanding of the world and where we are is founded on things told to us. It's also nice to see how gentile and kind you are in regards to the little peaceful fish.
I have never liked fishing because of this too. I wonder how many more of us hate to go fishing because of this.
What a nice video!! You're an excellent story teller, and your English is impeccable!! I love your content, and I always learn something!!
It's fascinating just how a very typical village can come to be a remarkable video when it is filmed by a beautiful Russian lady with a soft voice.
Looks like a very nice spot to spend a day, that guy’s fish was very impressive, nice video 👍
Looks like hell left town and that is what remains.
@@typeabnegative1 It's funny isn't it. Because it isn't really that nice of a place. Just Natasha has a way of making it watchable.
I don't know. I wouldn't say that it was a nice place. The video was nice and it's interesting to learn about Natasha's world.
Your authenticity is refreshing. The images you capture of people living out their everyday lives regardless of circumstances is so rare amongst those who glorify everything.
It's interesting, did you not see real Russia before? I'm likewise a massive fan of this channel and I also create vlogs with regards to life in Russia. for some reason the youtube algorithm has not been as wonderful to me yet. Practically everybody that watches my content claims that it is very good, but very few are able to view it. Can you be completely straightforward and say exactly how I can improve my vlogs? I value your honest point of view.
I´m completely amazed by your content Natasha! I love how you show your day to day life and how you allow me (and many others) to have a glipse of how things are on the opposite side of the world! Greetings from Argentina!
It's fascinating that 1000 more people could have made the same film but it is Natasha's thoughts which made the difference,
This reminds me of my hometown of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, Canada.
I know villages here in Scotland which have one bus a day, or at least a service where you will be able to go one way, and have to get someone to drive you back.
i too am from the island! Comox :)
@@geocash23 I miss Vancouver Island, haven't been back in years. I have family in Powell River and I used to love taking the Comox ferry to Powell River.
Thank you for giving us a view into your beautiful country! Your videos are informative and so calming to watch. You have a great way of explaining things- a natural teacher.
Natasha, your calm approach, dry humour, knowledge and love of your culture make all of your videos a delight to watch. It is a shame the ginger cat didn't want to have a proper conversation, even though you were so polite with your inquiries. I look forward to the next installment of your insights into Russian society.
It's very interesting because she didn't show or say anything that we didn't already know. I don't feel that I learned anything from the video but I watched it until the end and enjoyed it.
@@SamsRussianAdventures Yes she did. What about the nature reserve? Natasha didn't know it began on the edge of the village, did you?
@@John-gv2ug What I mean is, we didn't see anything that we hadn't seen before in other places in the world. But it's Natasha's way of showing these things to us that makes it special, not so much the place it's self. Did you think that the place was incredibly special or different to anything you had sen in your life? To me it looked like 1000 villages that I had already seen before, but it was Natasha's point of view which made it interesting.

Natasha has an interesting way of capturing the soul of the place she visits. I think is we went there ourselves, it wouldn't be as good as it was in Natasha's video. I can say that I have been to many such villages but none of them seemed as nice as Natasha's video.
I just love watching all of your videos Natasha. This one was nostalgic for me as I grew up fishing in canals and lakes with my parents and grandparents here in the USA. I personally don't fish anymore and haven't for years. Thank you for making and sharing this video with us.

Your content always makes me smile. You're soft spoken with a big heart. Thank you for the great Video!
You are definitely an artist!
Oh, yeah. And picture in some country bumkins.

What a wonderful and peaceful video! Thank you!
