Thank you, i have been looking at comparisons between this 2 cameras and this is the best, you managed to put a lot of information in a short but concise video !
I switched too man I love it. I kept my canon tho because the colors for video I like. But I use the Sony for cinematics
I decided to sell my 80D and buy a Sony a6400. Sony’s IBIS isn’t all that great anyway, plus the a6400 is small enough to throw on $300 a gimbal and call it a day. I’d rather have the better menu system, better autofocus, and better iso, then Sony’s IBIS. Plus the a6400 was $300 cheaper. Also, don’t forget you can get rid of small camera shake in post with an app like deshake or Emulsio.
Nice video Paul!
EverydayTechnology hey i loved your channle can we do a collab like you shout me out ill shout you out and i subed can you sub back
I’ve been wanting the a6500 but don’t have the money 😂
Someday🙌
Paul, thanks for another great, fair, review.
Great review Paul, but I've got to say that with the comparison the 80d seems more like the winner. I get the 4k and the sharpness as well, but especially for Vlogging/UA-cam videos 80D seems much better. Just based on the review. I have not tried the a6500 yet. thanks
I agree - I have an a6500 and I am gonna switch to an 80D or eventually an RP because the screen in the Sony is useless outside even on cloudy days is impossible to see anything. The image stabilization is good for photo not for video and in fact, I had to invest in a gimbal, the picture profiles involve color grade as well and if you don't have time to spend colour grading because youtube is not your first source of income having the picture profiles is pointless
You nailed it Paul!.... Thanks for this video.
I was the opposite of you man! I went from the a6500 to the 80d. Just recently actually. I really didn't like the size of the a6500, it felt so small to me. It's a great camera and all but I wanted the beautiful color profiles of canon and just a bigger setup. I know I sacrificed 4k but in reality 1080 can be upscaled and its not much of a difference from native 4k. But for what I use my camera for, 4k isn't a requirement and much more of a headache than anything. It takes a lot of storage, power, and memory to edit 4k video. I really want to get into the 5d realm when I can afford that. Great video!
That's sad
So essentially the Canon has better usability, but because it doesn't have 4k you bought the Sony.
Canon should take note, because they are losing their customers. The 90D needs to have 4k and 120fps 1080p.
4K, in body stabilization, and 120fps at 1080P is what it mostly comes down to. It would be incredible if the 90D brought this to the table, but it almost certainly won't happen. Looks like Canon is going to push their mirrorless line (M50) as their budget 4K option.
I think the 80d has nicer color science for stills. I know a lot of work can be done in post, but I found myself going back to my 7d over the Sony. I guess I prefer DSLR over mirrorless. However, I absolutely love the fujifilm series cameras.
Really helpful. Thanks mate
Aww, I just came from one of your videos from 3/4 years ago...too adorable..new subbie
You forgot one of the biggest difference between these two cameras that is the dual pixel in Canon. The best on the market and although 4k should be in almost all of the modern day DSLR, 90% of the end consumers don't even watch it in 4k. Yeah the low light sucks on the 80D and no 90 or 120fps but for a camera that's almost a couple of y/o 80D does the job. Great video though. I only chose 80D over a6300 because of the AF and the touch screen which is also articulated.
The Dual Pixel AF on the 80D is amazing, but so is the AF on the a6500! The only difference I seem to notice is that the focusing on the a6500 is slightly more "robotic" and doesn't look quite as natural as the focusing on the 80D, but the speed is about the same.
Paul Bradford exactly but yeah I've not used a6500 so can't say much but like for me the main difference is the AF on both these cameras.
Once again, this argument is so fucking dumb. 4k down sampled still looks 100x better than 1080p.
Thnx Paul nice comparison.
Hey! Love the vids. I was wondering, what do you use to hold up your phones in the phone reviews you do?
Salt shakers 😂
haha epic!
yea I can't stand my a6000 flip out screen...
.you can find stuff easily in the canon cause you are used to it! I can find anything km Sony menus and get lost in canon or Panasonic because I am not used to them. Plus the Sony has way more features so of course the menu has lots more options. Also the canon color is not better nor more accurate..in fact is anything but accurate. Again you are just used to it. Use the eoshd profile settings if you like that orangy look
Try using better lens in 80d it will get better i mean the first shots u show nd said not sharp
Cool vid 👍👍👍
Good Luck Paul 😜🤘✌
Hey men, u rocks, keep going to your dreams
You mentioned at 1:36 that the video image of 80D is not as sharp as 6500A. What if you use a better lens on 80D? does it still worse than 6500A?
I used the same lens for both cameras, the Sigma 18-35 F1.8. This lens is known to be one of the sharpest APS-C lenses out there so I doubt a better lens would make much of a difference.
funny i'd never have switched from the 80d to the 6500 since i shoot birds in flight. Have you noticed 80d files are 40% larger RAW then the 6500. WAY more detail i nthe 80d. Stunning actually. The 80d is a PHOTOGRAPHERS tool. Period. That said I switched to the 6500 and sold my 6d2. I shoot manual lenses and the IBIS is impressive. but you made a mistake buying the 80d for video. PS. The 6500 LCD is garbage in bright light. OVF rules there too.
But you don't upload that much huh
Working on it
I can take that 80D off your hands since you have switched, 😀 worth a try.
Still use it for photos and as a B cam, nice try though haha
0:00 he moved his hand away and then back to the camera 13 times
Haha
my 80d can choose what button What does
thanks
i know this video is old but id like some help because im planning on getting my first camera , i liked the a6400 , but the lenses in are too expensive with sony , i like cheap canon lenses which i hear is better too , i also like the flip screen in canon as you mentioned , but i also like the 4k in sony , the expensive lenses and flip out screen is 2 main reasons i dont wanna go with sony , does anyone know what i should go for ?
A6400 for max quality, Canon for convenience.
Hello
I am a wedding videographer . So is it strong enough for wedding coverage?
Anirban Sardar other then buying a couple extra batteries, I’d say go with the Sony a6400 because it has no 30min time limit on video. You can set it up, plug it in and it will record until the SD card is full.
Hey guys I thought this would be the best place to ask but I want to get a camera under $1000 that can shoot good quality stance videos in low light as well as good for indoor UA-cam videos . I’m thinking the cannon 80D , a7ii or a 6400 I’ve had the a6400 before but wasn’t too impressed
If you’ve already had the a6400 and weren’t impressed, I would recommend giving the 90D a shot. The autofocus is incredible, colors are great, and it has 4K video recording. That’s what I’ve been using for the past 6 months or so and I really like it
🔥Brother which Mic did you used in this video🔥🌟👍
Fresh Go probably a boom and shotgun mic on a zoom H6
Good job!
🌟Brother which software did you use for video editing🌟👍
He uses Final Cut Pro
I am gonna buy 80d. Thanks a lot. 😇
Glad I could help! Since this video, I've switched to the 90D which has 4K video capabilities and I love it :)
80D on magic lantern vs a6500?
Did you take a class on cameras, or are you entirely self-taught? Great video.
Learned most of the stuff I know from other UA-cam videos. Caleb from DSLR Video Shooter and Peter McKinnon are super helpful!
a6400 vs a6500 wich better
Mishca Henry I’d say the a6400. It has better autofocus, better menu system, better iso, and no 30min record limit.
@@TJuice1986 talking bout video quality tho
@@TJuice1986 talking about the video image quality tho
Mishca Henry okay, well the a6500 has in body image stabilization, but Sony’s IBIS sucks so it won’t help too much. The a6400 has slightly better iso, so it will perform a little better in lowlight. Other then that, they are exactly the same when it comes to image sharpness. The a6400 has Hybrid Log- Gamma. So you can do a little more with color grading then you can with the a6500. It all comes down to what you want to use the camera for. I personally think the a6400 is a little better, but some think the a6500 is slightly better. Some think that they are so much alike, it doesn’t matter at all.
@@TJuice1986 understand ,thanks
thanks bruh
How do you use it to focus when you are sitting in front of it
The face detect autofocus is fantastic on both cameras!
This better be your deepest voice
Don't worry, it is
I'm going to do the exact same switch :)
And a6500 has overheating feature tooo.
colours on the 80d is much much better
Wow man. I think you might've just converted me to Sony
but as a vlogger the no flip screen is a huge drawback
There’s always the a6400.
nice video
A6400 is better than a6500 and 80d
yah, but the stabilization is completly necesary
Canon 80d ♥
Hi Paul
I really need help dude
I want to make prank videos and also i like taking pictures and making cinematics. Im in between 2 cameras which are canon 80d and sony a6400. Which one should i grab for my need. What would you suggest ?
2 weeks with no video. hmm... It seems like your procrastination skills starts to seep in. Be strong my friend
LuckyMe and a 10 day vacation didn’t help 😂
Paul Bradford oh I thought you were gone or something because no updates on Twitter
$1000 yep pretty good for beginners
Micah Goodson as a beginner, I would go with the Nikon 3400. So much more affordable!
*Jordan Duncan true but how is the autofocus?*
Doesn’t compare lol but its great for starting out. I believe you can find a new Nikon d3500 with two kit lenses for around 500.00. Perfect for those interested in photography.
Awsome
