Nothing sounds like an upright bass played by a good player. It’s a delusional quest. However it’s possible to get a bit closer and this guy is talking sense.
I really like your videos with this bass..you get a greqt sound, almost upright sound from it..most electric fretless players sound too farty when playing-too many slides,glissando,etc..great job
Nothing special, I don't get to gig this bass too often, but when I had, just my pedal board and the backline available on the venue. i got a compressor and a sansamps Vt character. The only amp I own is a hartke KB12. But I use it for monitoring purposes only when is not amp on the venue. And for my videos, just direct to the interface or thru the pedals. Hope it helps. Cheers
Hey thanks for the video. Have you tried daddario chromes before? If so, what are your thoughts about it? Im also working on sounding like an upright but i dont have access to GHS strings and labellas are a bit pricey.
Kind of.. because the strings it came from factory where Daddario, and the attack when playing was a bit metalic, but I believe it was because the bass was to long unplayed on a shelf and probably got humidity on the shipping. So I haven't tried properly, don't be afraid to try strings that are available for you, at the end you can use the Tone on the bass and solve this. I have to try nylon strings, in theory they should solve this problem. There is a fellow youtuber that use this bass with those strings. Hope it helps
@@YbraMusic oh right, the srh comes with chromes. I did not like it when i got to try it, it did sound metallic. But, others were able to achieve an upright sound with it so im curious. By the way, i have a different model which is the agbv205 by ibanez. Flats vs nylon, i would say im leaning more on flats. Unless maybe you convince me on a future video of yours. Haha. Thanks for the input!
I think, the problably sound better , but I haven't tried them because are more delicate, if the nylon unwound you basically have to change it. I'm not very careful sometimes so idk if they will work for me.
That's the video all bass players and frustrated with double bass were waiting for 😂. Thank you!
btw try the ninomute light, the ibanez will sound just like a baby bass
Thanks for explaing that so well, really handy info.

Very helpful, thank you!
Very good video. Love the sound of the instrument!
right on brother!
I really dig your playing and tone, I plan on buying one of these in the 5 string version. What are you using for amplification and cabs?

Would Tapewounds work/work better?

@ I might try and let you know! 😁

I wnat this bass.
Just an observation - you made a lot of jump cuts in your edits. A bit much, in my opinion. Love the information you presented though!
Very useful video, thanks a lot !
