  • In this video I'm going step-by-step following the instructions to see if there are any inaccuracies. There are a few mistakes in the steps but for the most part they can be followed. The tools you'll need are a 10mm socket, 14mm socket (preferably 1/2 in drive) along with a breaker bar, a flathead screwdriver and a phillips head screwdriver.

    Good video. One thing. Keep copper away from aluminum (your ac line) copper will make aluminum corrode. It’s called galvanic corrosion.

    Thank you so much for this video as I used it and the pdf instructions to install the M1 on my 2012 FJ Cruiser TTSE. I will say that I had to install the winch tray onto the bumper and then install them together on the winch tray mount as I couldn’t do it per the instructions. Thank you again!

    I found that I needed to remove my headlights to get to those impossible bolts with the handheld bracket welded onto the nuts. I also used a C-clamp to hold the Bumper to the Fj in order keep it in place while finiggling the blind bolts into the slots.. What a pain from Smittybilt

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  2 роки тому +1

      The c-clamp would have been a nice touch, I usually use them for a lot of things and I didn't think to grab one.

    I have a near perfect 2007 fj same color as yours. I’m reluctant to do much so I don’t effect the value. But man that bumper sure looks great.

      I get so many compliments on this bumper. Some have said that it looks like I can drive through a brick wall, which I'm a bit reluctant to try lol

      @@LegitRaceCraft I’m in. Ordered it from Amazon. I’m putting new front shocks and struts front and rear. I figure if I keep all the original stuff I can always put it back on. I have new headlights, taillights, shifter knobs, blacked out mirrors, etc. gues it doesn’t matter much now. Plan on giving to my grand on in 16 years anyway.

    In 2010+ the windshield washer fluid reservoir is low down where that cover goes.

      Awesome! Great to know. I thought it would be something like that.

    The hardware for the pod lights were trash. My cross threaded instantly. Also the 4 bolts securing the bumper to the winch mount is impossible to do alone! I just gave up before lighting the car on fire.

      I remember having trouble with the pod lights and the winch mount to bumper, my helper was on the phone while installing so I decided to try myself

    Very nice. Thanks. Gives me some confidence that I might be able to manage it. Curious, did the new weight sag your front suspension or had you already done a lift with stiffer springs?

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  2 роки тому

      I already had stiffer springs on the front, so it didn't seem to make a difference

    Quick question. How were you able to get the left side bolts mounted with the bracket because I have the same winch and there’s less room the left side. Thank you

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  9 місяців тому

      The winch lined up fine from what I remember. My issue was the box on top, I had to remove it, make a bracket and slide it forward

    The same vacuum works on top of piston debris

    I decided the same thing with that washer fluid guard. Not that useful.

    Great video! Definitely considering this bumper since it's a good price. Do you know the weight? Also do you know if this helps or hurts the approach angle? Thanks!

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  2 роки тому +2

      I love it still. It's heavy, but I don't know the weight. And I didn't measure my specific approach angle with my tires to compare what it would be after the bumper was installed, but it does look like it helps the approach angle. It definitely frees up space in front of each wheel

      @@LegitRaceCraft ahh okay no worries. Thanks for the reply! Think I'll take this on this summer. Thanks for making this vid, def saves lots of money not having to take it to a shop to get installed! 👍

    Did you make sure you didn’t bend that tube piece at the bottom and bend it near the middle instead?

      The a/c line? Yes. I was careful when I bent that

    Sweet video. How much did you get your bumper for? and how much was the winch?

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  4 роки тому

      Bumper was around $800 and the winch was around $500

      I never could get it to mount properly with my winch, it has something to do with the winch. I think if I bought the smittybilt winch I would be able to use it

    Looks good. Are you going to complete the look with a metal rear bumper as well?

    • @LegitRaceCraft
      @LegitRaceCraft  4 роки тому +1

      Probably in the future I will. The previous owner painted my rear end caps and it's starting to fade and look bad. Also I like how that bumper looks with fender flares

    The way this bumper mounts on is horrid for the person putting it on. I had so much trouble trying to find a good angle to hold the nut plate and tread the bolt and hold up the bumper. stupid.
