For sure. How about water in your gas. Plus you have to get a pilot license, which isn’t easy. Especially if you have high blood pressure, on meds and so on. Wont be a lot of people flying it yet.
My grandpa was obsessed with aviation-innovation ever since he went on the Concord's maiden flight. He'd have given anything just to test fly this baby.
THIS IS NOT A FLYING CAR. This is a DRIVING AIRPLANE. The FAA is going to treat it exactly like they treat a Cessna 172. You will have to take off and land at airports unless you own many acres of land - and even then you need a pilot's license and radio skills
That ain't no flying car. It's just a foldable plane. And I don't want no giant drones or mini helicopters either. I want a real antigravity flying personal vehicle. Like the Jetsons, like Star Wars, like Blade Runner, as was promissed when I was a child in the 80's.
Imagine the lawsuits; Judge: I hereby sentence you to 25 years in prison. Defendant: WHAT?! But first degree GTA is 2! Judge: Yeah, *but it's also a private plane and Hijacking is 20, plus you don't have a license for said plane so that's another 3. . .*
If 1/3 of the lift is performed by the car body how does that effect handling on the ground? You don't really want to loose wheel grip if you're going around a corner at any speed.
The tail stabilizer in driving mode will be angled such that it helps it stay on the ground like F1 car or any racing car for that matter. While in flying it will be like normal plane horizontal stabilizer
It flew a distance of 80 Kilometers in one hour? That's the speed of my ebike. 2-seater, no baggage, clumsy, impractical and too expensive. Keep walking!
So, it’s a light aircraft you can (theoretically) park at home, potentially saving on parking fees… all the other expenses and hassles of airplane ownership apply, however. Not really a game changer.
I wonder what speed you would have to get up to to fly and over what distance? I get the feeling you'd still have to go to a hanger to fly this thing 😂
Please hire someone who knows about this kind of thing before covering such a topic. This is junk that will never make it past a real certification process.
This idea will never work, because even a small dent on the frame of a plane can undermine its airworthiness. Unless this hybrid car is exclusively used in areas where there is a very low risk of ground accidents.
What a about the need to take permission when you fly like do you need to inform the airports or aviation authorities like you do when you fly a plane or it doesn't need that? Do you need to access all the flight plans before flying and submit your flight path also or no need?
This type of car wont be popular . It will be the drones with multiple propellers like those of small drones that will be more practical to introduce air travels to normal motorists.
I’m a private pilot. Why would you fly several thousand feet up in a plane not optimized for flight? Why would you drive in a vehicle not optimized for safety on the road? The concepts for each use oppose each other. Really bad idea.
I imagine this could be very practical to do some island hopping, now add some pontoons so you can land on the water as well... I think it's great something like this exists, even if it's just for fun. If you show up in this among super cars of a similare price, what would you think will draw more attention?
I'm glad there's something that looks stupid, Imagine somebody driving a car with a huge tail and unstable to drive. I will support personal rotor crafts but not a flying car because you will still need a landing strip it will not be safe landing on the road.
...and then what? You need a runway to land. So you have to find an airfield and then get stuck in traffic to go back downtown. The drone/copter vehicles are a better solution.
@@skywalker39100 Maybe but you'll never know for sur when you have enough freeway for that! but I was referring more to those who work in the cities. Not a car for me. A roadworthy plane?
Too bulky. Human sized drones will be more practical. Anyhow, people can't even drive on the streets, let alone in the air, so the only way flying vehicles would work is if they're fully autonomous.
When you serve two masters you never serve either fully. Compromises are made here, both as a car and as an airplane. As a result, neither is served well and dissatisfaction will be experienced in either mode of travel. Distance and carrying capacity will be limited as an airplane. Cargo volume and practicality as a road car will be disappointing. Passenger limits in both modes. A very restricted niche market for nouveau riche looking for notoriety, novelty, and bragging rights.
Oh wow another flying car. JFC no one could afford it. You’d have to drive to an airport, submit a flight plan, and wait in line, after getting your pilots’ license. So does any of this make sense?

I wonder how much it would cost to insure that bad boy. Made to Fly but not to go food shopping. I Imagine a fender bender might affect flight LOL awesome concept though!
So basically it's an aeroplane with folding wings, not a flying car. Lol. Those who are able to afford one will also be able to afford 1) an aeroplane, and 2) a car. A bit like the current situation. Aeroplane for flying, and a car for driving. Pointless
"we want this to fit in an average sized garage"
The people who could afford this don't have average sized anything.
Except average di**
With all due respect, you're wrong: I could afford this...but I only have a carport, due to the cantilever theme & design of my house.

1.6 liter V4 from BMW? I've never heard of that engine. It's either a triple or inline-4.
Genius!!! I hope they invent an anti-gravity vehicle/AGV next.
Even if it gets FAA approval in the US, I don’t see it passing US-DOT requirements to drive on the road 🤨!
Thanks for sharing this 🙌 CHEERS from New Jersey 🇺🇸
I saw this on a trailer near the Addison airport in TX about a month ago! I was super excited to see that it was actually real

So far it is the best 50 50 split between car and plane I have seen.
Basically a private plane which can be put in your garage 🙂
The crazy part is people can’t even drive vehicles on the ground.

Exactly my question. Hope it gets answered
you can't jus take off or land anywhere though, since the wings would have to be out and interrupt traffic
I wonder what speed you would have to get up to to fly and over what distance?
I get the feeling you'd still have to go to a hanger to fly this thing 😂
A bit pricey but since a new Cessna costs 400-500k anyway... why not.
