Never been there but it looks like a beautiful city. Hope they're OK soon, but knowing Louisiana's strength, I have no doubt!

It was definitely a beautiful city, but there was ups and downs about it. High cost of living, low wages, high traffic, increasing crime rates, lots of idiot drivers that cause wrecks, and most of all less things to do with families. But we were just getting new businesses built and more things to do during our pandemic. We turned something that was detrimental into something that was helpful because of the pandemic we were able to do construction in so many places. Now they have to start from scratch. We have a great community (some people better than others) and I know a lot of those people. I lost my hometown....and thats not something everyone can say.

Based on the pictures and videos I've seen, it looks like a cute little city. I went as far west as Lafayette awhile back, but I found Lafayette is very hilly and illogically layed out and has a dry, rural look to it. It kind of surprised me. Hoping LC will be a bit more interesting.
My mom had a coworker from LC and she absolutely loved that place. I'm in NOLA, BTW.

@@theslenderchick1797 I can only imagine what that feels like. The thought is terrifying.
We had Katrina but that still didn't do all that much damage to Metairie. Nothing like it did to St. Bernard and Bay St Louis.
      You be ok, you hear!

Looks so much like tornado damage (I know it was a hurricane, just saying) with how it skipped some buildings and there’s little water damage! Thank you for reporting.

If the eye had been about 30 miles west of Lake Charles there would have been a surge. My friend from Lake Charles says every single building has some kind of damage. A shout-out out to my friends on Holly Beach who rebuilt after Rita. I'm so so sorry :-(

You can't really blame the way the houses are built when see that old trees are being pulled up by their roots. The houses are of better construction than you think.

You "high and mighty people make me sick". Can't you find something else to do or say other than criticizing people who are trying to share information with others? Are you not aware of the fact that those who criticize the shortcomings of others usually have many shortcomings of their own? This is usually why these types of people "put down" others in order to attempt to raise up themselves. One of my favorite philosophies of life is the old adage, 'If you have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all." You would be wise to consider this. God doesn't like ugly! :(
