Love it tho' I have to admit that these off-the-cuff videos strike up some anxiety where I'm yelling in my brain, stop there...ok, stop there then skip to the end and be amazed. I then start the video over and watch it in its entirety.
Really enjoyed the yellow and black…..love that you too leave things for a while before finishing. Also love the fast pace video with the voice over- helpful in processing the information. Like the idea of notTHINKING to much and just going for it! Would like to see what you do with turquoise and lime green ( and black and white,)
Just found one of your videos from 1 year ago. As always I'm in love with your artistic talent. It's easy for me to apply my art process with yours as an inspiration. Please keep making your art. I like making collage an applying it to canvas. xoxoxoB from Ct.
Working my way back through some of your earlier videos Jackie and LOVING every one. I struggle with putting a primary up against black and white; for me there's something just too in-your-face and harsh about the evolving results. Yet I'm watching in awe as you demonstrate how it's possible to act as a mediator and to have them dance in step with each other as respectful, trusting partners. This "tribute to yellow" is incredible.
Thank you for another generous, thoughtful response! I love the dancing metaphor ❤️ And it’s definitely an “in your face” color combination - there’s a sweet spot in there and finding it is the challenge for me. (And let’s be honest, my “sweet spot” will be miles away from someone else’s 😆) Of course there’s no reason that you have to have a primary with black and white - you can do any color combinations that suit you. It’s about finding the dancing partners that you enjoy watching the most. The only way I know to do that is to keep showing up and trying out new partners - eventually you’ll find the dancers with the best chemistry in your eyes. Keep auditioning ☺️❤️
I was so excited to come across this today! I have a painting that is looking very gridlike and boring. Now I have some ideas on how to make it more interesting! Yay! I love the way you talk us through your thought process.
Thanks Lesley! Petrol is new to me - I just looked it up and it’s gorgeous! Keep an eye out for my sunday video this week - I’ll using a play on those colors to create something very new (to me) ❤️❤️❤️
(Great meeting you yesterday at the grid journal session.) I absolutely loooove these! I loved it as one big piece before you cut it too. I just love everything about them, colours, shapes. Do you ever work on a large piece with the intention of keeping it whole then look at it and say you know what, I'm going to cut it down, or vice versa?
Thank you! Usually when I set out to do these paper exercises, I plan to cut them down, however, there have been occasions that I like what I’m making as a whole so much that I decide to keep it whole ☺️ So glad you could make it to the workshop yesterday! Would you please remind me of your actual name? I love connecting screen names with real names and UA-cam pictures are so tiny! 😆❤️
Wonderful as always ♥ Isn't it interesting that so much of our methodology (especially in the beginning) is in trying to find ways to bypass or short-circuit whatever our 'deliberate' choices might be? I wonder what someone like Jan Van Eyck would think if he was able to see you work (!)
Jackie, when you do a piece on paper, as you're doing here, and it turns out to be one of the best pieces you've ever done, do you then adhere it to a canvas or cradle board? Or do you frame it, as is? When I have pieces on paper, they go into a file/portfolio and stay there. I don't know if I should make prints, frame and sell or give them to someone that take a special interest in them. HELP please?
Short answer? It depends. 😆 I often frame paper pieces that I love and want to gift, sell, or hang up in my home. Affixing it to a wood panel is another great way to display paper without a frame. Jane Davies has a great video showing her mounting process. I also have piles of papers in my drawers of pages that remain unframed because I prioritized others or didn’t have room to display. The possibilities are wide open, depending on what you’d like to do. One thing I do want to mention is a reminder to not undervalue your art because it’s “just” on paper vs a canvas or panel. The magic in the art is in what YOU have added to the substrate, not the paper/canvas/panel itself. ❤️❤️❤️
@@jackieschomburgart Thank you Jackie! After going through my art the other day, I found some pieces I forgot how much I really loved. Today, you gave me "permission" to follow my own decisions and allowed me another step in my art freedom process. Have an awesome week! And thanks again!
Hi! 👋 Happy to share that info with you, but I’m not exactly what tape you’re referring to. If you can tell me where it is in the video (timestamp) I’d be happy to let you know 🤗
@@jackieschomburgart love that! I’m self taught as well, but no art classes. I do abstracts and absolutely love it! Only recently adding collage to some of my art. I’ve been making my own papers with a gelli plate. Gelli printing is something I’ve only recently learned about and it’s so fun!
a few moments of pleasant relaxation in the maelstrom of uk's current political and economic meltdown! like yellow white black a lot. have also added turqoise and violet to that mix. sounds a lot but if the yellow is lemony its cool. have great w/e
Thanks so much, Robert! Always happy to be a positive distraction ☺️ I love the idea of adding turquoise and violet. It feels like it could look a bit like a stained glass window - in the sense that it could look like light is shining behind the colors, making them shine brightly. Have a great weekend!

Haha! Sometimes it’s most relaxing to know the end result vs. being swept up in the drama of “will she ruin it or not?” 🤣🤣🤣

i'd love to see some magenta & lime green.
Ask and you shall receive, Cynthia! 🎨 Magenta & lime green coming right up in the next piece! 🌈 Stay tuned! 😉
Again, thanks for the inspiration. I was just lamenting my lack of ideas lately, and then your video popped up and gave me some ideas.
You’re more than welcome, Irene ❤️ So glad to help get you started!

They're fantastic - very surprised hw they turned out. Next colors - greens and purple.

You’re so right - I work to do anything that ISN’T deliberate.
Re: Van Eyck - Haha! Can you even imagine? 😂
Hi Jackie .... I liked this outcome!! What about teal/turquoise as a next color for you???
Thanks Tony! Great color suggestion - thank you! ❤️
I super love these; color, composition, contrast, patterns, everything. What's the book you've mentioned, Beautiful Opps? Is this a children book?
Thank you, Theo! 💛💛💛
Purple and yellow
Great combo! ❤️

Very cool. What did you use to attach and put over the tissue and collage papers?
Thanks Vicky! I used gloss medium ☺️
What kind of tape is that?
