Thanks for this lovely video! I watched it closely, hoping my grandparents might appear in the background somewhere. I think they would have been roughly around the age of a lot of folks in this video when it was filmed, also my grandfather worked at the mines for a while and we attended the church in this video. They lived in Springhill all their lives and we spent a lot of time there. They were my favourite people and I loved to visit them. It was nice to reminisce. :)
Oh m goodness gracious. . .what a wonderful documentary. Although I left Springhill at 15 yrs old with my family, my memories of the ‘mine disasters’ are still vivid in my 78 yr old brain. Around this time, I was fishing lobster for family in 5 islands. On our way back from Cap Pele NB, with half ton loads of bait, we'd always stop at the drive through at Tims, and dump a load if bait juice while waiting in line.😂😂😂 sure it made their day.
