Few things that are wrong in here. First of all the color of the drop does not indicate the quality of the items in it as described here. Each color drop has its own drop table, and that drop table can drop items ranging from primitive to ascendant, though higher quality items are more likely to come from drops with halos around them. Rather the color of drop indicates the types of items they can contain. For example green drops may drop raptor saddles and blueprints, while red might drop rex saddles and blueprints.
It is also worth noting ascendant is not necessarily, not even very often, the best. As you increase in quality the items stats do increase, however so to do their materials and repair costs, also there is a cap on weapon damage and armor rating for every item. With a crafting character you can get significant bonuses on the quality of items crafted from a blueprint, and the repair costs are half of the crafting cost of an item. Many ascendant items are already at or very near their respective caps, and likewise have very high material costs, which translates to very high repair costs. The only real positive to them is they also have very high durability, and durability is not capped like damage and armor, and that durability is also affected by the crafting bonus.
It is often better to craft items from a high quality mastercraft blueprint, as you can often, with good crafting skill, cap the damage or armor while retaining lower repair costs, making the item just as effective, but simultaneously much easier to maintain, as well as cheaper to produce in bulk. On particularly rare occasions you might even find journeyman blueprints high enough to be capped this way, while having even lower material costs. A journeyman BP like this is truly a rarity, and extremely valuable. Some items are notably expensive to craft and use, yet extremely useful, such as the tek bow, which makes it a prime candidate to go for a journeyman over a mastercraft or ascendant even if it means not reaching the damage cap, simply because its cost is so high that it makes the journeyman more reasonable for persistent use.
It is also worth noting that when it comes to armor, durability is much more important than the armor rating. This is because the amount of durability loss is directly tied to how much damage the armor is negating. While the armor value is important, higher armor values have a diminishing return on how much more damage they negate. Since you can carry lots of med brews, it is better to have your armor last longer, to make you more survivable for a long drawn out battle.
No color of drops does actually indicate qualitiy of stuff in it

Where would it be easiest to find Better Quality Fur Armor? Would that be Red ? Or Purple
@@thephantom2906 You would have to consult the big list of loot tables to find that. Fandom has the tables, including the quality ranges if you look at the detailed info.
Deep sea drops will give a quality up to 400%
Yellow drops on gen 2 can give them, as can certain missions. The missions give a quality of up to 600% for alpha, but the drops seem to give higher. Though I can't find the exact figure for the quality to expect. It's not listed.
Unfortunately you can only look them up by the source, not the blueprint you're looking for, so you have to pick through and see what sources give the blueprint you need and then determine which has the best drop quality.
As far as I know drop qualities are based on percentages of the base stats of the engram associated to the item.

Another thing to add, is keep all you BP’s and compare them to existing ones as the crafting requirements will vary and you can find some that are lower in quality and yet have higher stats to them and vice versa. I have gotten master crafts that are better than ascendant. As well as same value ascendant with lower crafting requirements. Durability seems to be a factor in crafting requirements as well. Higher durability = higher crafting requirements. Though its not always the case.
Came here for this exact reason. I have 2 rocket launcher BP, purple one has 1000-ish damage, 500-ish durability, the cyan one has 1100-ish damage, 250-ish durability but take as much as 3 times more the resources to craft. I play Ark Mobile
For me my drop loot won't give me anything like ram shackle or better I've opened plenty of red green yellows and so on
must be a server thing. admins can affect loot drop rates and quality

Super useful video literally told me EXACTLY what I wanted to know, only thing I’d like to know is say for example it takes 10 metal to repair a primitive item, would it take 10 metal to repair the ascendant variant of that weapon or would that also have increased requirements like the blueprint does?

Pro gamer tip: never go into the snow cave with primitive gear
Ascendant long neck rifles do not increase the effectiveness of tranq darts. When taming you want to use a primitive rifle as it does less damage to the Dino you are trying to knock out. Better quality rifles are only better to use if you’re using them for damage, not knocking out.
Not sure where you learned this. I do see a huge improvement in the amount of torpor applied when using a long neck with more damage. Google says this: "The target's torpor will increase by 600% of the damage dealt instantaneously, as well as an additional 250% of the over the next 5 seconds."
@@billwerth2 with my tests done while playing, I’ve learned that I do more damage to a Dino when using ascendant gear than primitive. If I’m increasing the amount of torpor when using ascendant, it’s a trivial amount. Why risk killing a good tame when you can just use primitive? Even if it means using a few more tranqs, well worth it.
Super informative video. The best tier I have been getting from red and yellow drops are ramshackle and mostly primitive bp’s. Is there a setting where I can turn the drop quality up?

i know ark has lots of information to explain, but could you also cover the difference between Armor value and durability value of crafted gear?
So this is a bunch of math and ill link the wiki if you wanna see the charts but ill try to sum it up here. Durability and armor value are kind of the same thing for wearable armor. The primitive set of riot armor provides a total of 575 armor points when you wear all 5 pieces. Against most creatures, for every ~16 damage mitigated by armor, each piece of equipped armor loses a point of durability. So a primitive riot chest piece has 120 durability points. so 120x16 is 1,920 points of dmg before it breaks. And thats for each piece of armor im pretty sure. So about 10k dmg you can take in full riot gear before it all breaks. Then durability increases when you have higher level gear. So instead of 575 total armor it can be like 1000 total armor. So 1000x16 is 16k dmg you can take before all your armor is broken. I know its a lot of math and kinda complicated, but here is the wiki link to the info. Though it has even more info and math haha.

Getting the blueprints and all required resources is not a problem but inventory space in almost all my craft benches is a huge problem if gotten ascendant blueprints for nearly all tools and weapons with crafting costs in the tens of thousands for all needed resources any solutions to that problem would be great
How can I get them from crates? I just get trash and useless engrams from drops
What about the armor values how much better is a piece of armor of 200 vs a piece of armor of 25? And I’m not talking about the durability.
Well the armor values is what affects the durability and how many hits in can take in general.
If you want to take less damage have riot instead of flak etc.

Can you change settings on xbox to make it so you get more engram points
I'm not sure about xbox specifically because I play on PC. But when hosting servers you can change the settings to give more points. Some servers make sure that you are able to unlock all engrams by a certain level, and other servers specifically make it so that you might need tribe members to learn different engrams and work as a group. I'm pretty sure if youre playing single player even on xbox there should be settings for you to change that somewhere. The ARKone subreddit may have answers for you.

Know it's an old video and while you mentioned the basics, and what end game players did to get the best they could, the boost is random and you forgot to mention numbers of the modifier players should be aiming for. Long neck for example is 200% good or 2000% what's the max number they should try to get close to
I was the person on Reddit, is it harder to gather better blueprints on the island? (I started there)
each island has its pros and cons. Fishing is good all around for each map. I do deep sea crates on rag cause i like that map best, but the caves on the island are easy and have decent drops. Its really a preference.
On Valguero theres a cave that I believe you can fly straight in there or if not you can just grapple your way in there but theres red drops and there are no creatures so its pretty easy but theres lava. cordanates are 33 51

I found ascendant gear but the damage was on 100% still but the cost was 1 material for everything such as 1 metal how do I switch is to it had more damage and more cost
