    I have used a rock climbng shoulder sling to attach my speed line slings, since I first zipped a limb, circa 1990.... At least six years ago, at the Boise ISA conference. Dan Kraus gave a speed line demo. He used a small stuff bag to put his slings in... easy to reach in and grab the top one...... neater than having a bunch of sliings hanging from your harness--- as unless its the first turn of zipping, my slings aren't neatly daisy chained. Anyhow, I just got a nice, stiff DMM stuff bag that could hold 20 slings.... breaking it in tomorrow on four large firs that we're prepping to be craned out Thursday...

    • @AugustHunicke
      @AugustHunicke  8 років тому

      Right on. Ya, I've been doing it forever too.
      I find the molly less like a ball and chain than the the bag. All the clips oriented nicely on one ring with gates all the same direction helps me shave time off the project every time I reach for another sling.

    Great video so far, I made it to 11:12 minutes. Going to watch the rest another night. Really liked the commentary and safety tips and extra info for your watchers. Those snaps look excellent! Looks like the best speedline kit out there. I never had a "molly" to put my loop runners on. Always just used the last loop runner and had a unique color for that last loop runner or a different looking biner on it. Then groundperson knows I'm all out and puts all the looprunners on that one. But the "molly" is a good idea. What's it stand for?

    • @AugustHunicke
      @AugustHunicke  9 років тому +1

      Hmmm, I just call it a molly because it resembles the molly I have seen cable splicers make. Just a piece of cable spliced into a perfect circle. So technically it's not actually a molly but I named it that.

      Excellent thoughts my friend.
      As far as Speed-lining trees goes. It's helpful on any tree of height. Speed lining requires enough height for clearance of the obstacles below.
