Think I've found a new favourite team in Emmanuel - Cambridge, some of their comments and just general excitement at being there I just really liked. It's rare to really see teams treating the show any less than 100% serious and it was nice to see that change a bit.
Emmanuel - Cambridge are my favorites. Seagull is a terrific captain, full of enthusiasm and Barton-Singer was the surprise MVP; he also gets the prize for easiest-on-the-eye.
I had a bad feeling about SOAS's chances from the start since they had two similar studies in the same type of field, South-East Asian combined with Near&Middle Eastern studies, which felt pretty limiting. Meanwhile EMMANUEL was more spread out with history combined with math and physics.
Considering that Edwards did most of the correct answering of questions, with a little help from two other contestants and almost none (if any) from the third other contestant, it's hardly surprising that they lost, since the other team had everyone chip in.
Because they lost their first round match, and then went against another one of the highest scoring losing teams to get their place in the second round. But I agree, everyone needs more Monkman on their screens.
Mr Paxman is speaking not Spanish but English. His pronunciation is the correct English one. One may also pronounce it with a schwa sound for the second syllable. It is perfectly normal for names in a foreign language to have an especial English pronunciation, for example, Berlin, Strassbourg, Cologne, and Himalaya. Even English spelling, as in the Tagus River (Tejo) in Lisbon (Lisboa), the Hague (Den Haag) in the Netherlands (Nederland), and Copenhagen (København) in Denmark (Danmark). The same thing may be found in any language.
it's the standard English pronunication. The French and Portuguese read it as 'key- SHOTT' - an approximation. And anyway, in Spanish it's pronounce kee-ho-tay. So there.

Great job by SOAS. Would have loved to see them continue on.

Emmanuel Seagull sounds like a 70s prog rock band.
Barton-Singer is sweet. He looks like he needs protecting.
I think I'm falling in love with Edwards, it's a shame he left the contest. Also RIP to Mr. Bostock
Don Quicks-Oat indeed, Paxo.
That's how it used to be pronounced in England. He's aware of the correct pronunciation.
Love it! Thank you so much for uploading!
good job man thanks for all the hard work you do!
Ward reminds me of Wednesday Addams...
aitkel ha! I wrote that too before I saw this!
Certainly one of the better SOAS teams that has appeared on the show.
Boosting self esteem. Watching university challenge, replying knowing all the answers 😂😂😂😂
Seagull - 'sacrificial insect' Hmm...
Bobby Seagull is an excellent name and an excellent captain.
Answer to the last question: "Her novels are the Maxims of La Rochefoucauld set in motion." Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa - on Jane Austen
more likely Madame de Lafayette, in La Princesse de Clèves
“We need the English title please”
“Oui”

What is University Challenge? - 7:20.
What's the difference between studying and reading something?
Martín Cruz it's the same thing, to read something is a British phrase
none - slightly antiquated perhaps to say 'reading' rather than 'studying'.
Very energetic and entertaining.. Seagull 👍
Want Emmanuel-Cambridge to win this (Seagull is awesome)
Me cae como el pico el qlo, chato de mierda
27:36 - Denied!
J MG hahahaha omg I didn't notice!
Edwards is lovely when he smiles, sorry to see them go! (Mrs L)
195 points winning streak didnt end
Barton Singer looks like a band kid

I thought Biran-Taylor got the most number of starters from SOAS and all members contributed actively.
I love you Bobby Seagull.
Seagull vs Monkman final
Barton-Singer is so Pre-Raphaelite.
How come SOAS are on for a third time when we've only seen some teams like Wolfson college Cambridge once? I need me some monkman
Because they lost their first round match, and then went against another one of the highest scoring losing teams to get their place in the second round. But I agree, everyone needs more Monkman on their screens.
Love Wednesday Addams!
Michelle Koh haha, I wanted to write something similar
Don "quix oat"? What?! How can he not know that it's pronounced kee-oat-ee?
gnilttbs Is this a particularly British pronunciation? I'm from Canada and I have never heard anyone pronounce it that way.

@@bewareofpigeons I guess it's also a standard pain for anyone from a spanish speaking country (as myself)... =P
i love Seagull
Everyone is reading for a Masters in Something Something Studies
ward is strangely attractive. maybe her eyes or eyebrows, i don't fucking know why
Very attractive and smart.
Line of coke before the show = Seagull's behaviour.
Seagull's enthusiasm was entertaining to watch but quite cringe worthy at times
Bakeroar it's endearing, and he's so cute
Bakeroar he is in fact my maths teacher
Oscar Poll lucky
It's founded in boyish innocence. Typical of those of Indian/Pakistani origin, as well as other Asians nations.
23:31 thank me later
Oh dude I love it. Thank you.
The seagull again
Seagull needs a chill pill!
Móran, móran taing!
