    I was there at 14 years old. My first concert. I was seated behind the stage. What you don't see in the videos is that Keith Moon had a guy sitting behind him with a box of drums sticks. Keith would hit a cymbal and let go of the stick and it would go flying off. He would then put his hand behind his back and this guy would put a stick in his hand and Moon wouldn't miss a beat. I was amazed watching this!

      bill, i was there also standing on the main floor... the place hadn't had a lions football game played there yet....(there was no heat in the dome, and the temps that day outside were in the single digits... +80 thousand people, a record for an indoor concert at that time.)...

    I saw them 2 days later at Cincinnati's Riverfront Colesium 12/8/1975. I was a 19-year-old kid at the time. They just played for 55 minutes, but it was the best rock concert I have ever been to. They were very LOUD. I just remember walking away convinced that Keith Moon was the best drummer in the world. Oh, and the price of the ticket was $7.50.

    • @robertcook2680
      @robertcook2680 7 років тому +4

      That doesn't sound right, that they played for only 55 minutes. I saw them on this tour in Atlanta, and they were playing two hour concerts at the time, (as well as in 1973 and 1976, when I also saw them). Are you sure it was that short? Why would they have cut their show in half?

    A bombastic Jam for an hour that's not too long to play considering a lot of bands back then we're playing for an hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours. But they never stopped really I mean just for a second to catch their breath and right into the next aggressively wild song and break it down into a killer Jam like they do on every song.. Entwistle walking all over that bass Moon The Loon Townsend signature music lyrics guitar playing and Daltrey a voice like no other. Those Lads had something really special

I did not know the Who at that time being born to parents born in the 1930's they could not have cared less so they were not listening to ARO radio. Was this the zenith of the WHO's career? Here's maybe why: #1 they were playing that night to the largest ever(-at that time-) indoor crowd. #2 They were all sharp. #3 they had all the great albums behind them but not very far behind. #4 moon did NOT tank. The entire Who's Next sessions were incredible because Glyn Johns had managed to get Moon to sort of reel it in a bit with the "antics" and just concentrate on being the best timekeeper possible. Hence, the prevalence of hi-hat for the first time, and arguably Moon's greatest studio performance.

      TKAA version is way better in my opinion. The notes they played before they second synth break just sound better! That’s my opinion.

    I am not old enough to have seen The Who with Keith Moon, The first time I saw The Who was in 1996 when they came to where I live they were doing Quadrophenia. I was lucky enough to have front row tickets,I was directly in front of Pete Townsend. At the end of the concert he took off his Red Strat and threw it on stage a piece broke off of his guitar I shouted up to Pete”HEY PETE CAN I HAVE YOUR GUITAR?” He looked over and responded back “Kid it is still repairable” during the encore Roger came over and sung to me. Billy Idol and Gary Glitter were with them on this tour and I had been giving Billy thumbs up all night and he eventually looked over and gave me a thumbs up, I was 18 at the time and had taken my dad to the concert. So many great memories of the first time I saw The Who and it was awesome I had some interaction back

    I was there in the nosebleed seats when I was 17 years old! One of the most memorable concerts of my life! It was so loud that the sound didn’t even have a chance to bounce around inside the stadium! It was a sonic assault that was deafening and I was as far away from the stage as you could get!!

    I was at this concert also my first.Sat on the 50 yard line, middle of the field. Toots and the Maytals(???) opened the show. When the doors opened,everyone in line just went for the doors,leaving huge piles of unopened beer laying on the ground! Great fun for a 16 year old!

      The Who by numbers tour 1976 Greensboro Coliseum, North Carolina. Toots and the maytals open the show and were booed off the stage after 2 songs! The who came on the stage about an hour and a half later and Pete Townsend said if we'd have known you wanted to see us that bad we have have got here earlier! LOL great concert cheers!!!

    Ahh good ole #2...Detroit was always one of their favorite stops. I saw them, or at least 3/4 of them, at the Silverdome in '79. It was their first GA show after Cincinnati. Tension hung in the air, to say the least...

    Guitar changes. Townsend used several different guitars throughout a show, so he numbered them, which made them easier to recognize in a dark venue.
