I have mixed thoughts about G3. I personally prefer the edgy-ness of G1 since that’s more my style. However, as someone who didn’t own any MH dolls as a child, I’m looking forward to start collecting this generation. I think so far my favorites are Drac and Duce

While G3 may look like it’s more geared towards kids with a more preppy style, I think the representation of characters is such a positive direction for monster high to take. Always being a representative of the different and misunderstood members of society, having characters like Frankie, who is trans and disabled, is such a refreshing representation that we are now seeing in toy isles. I love the new Cleo who has actual Egyptian designs incorporated which could then allow people to do their own research into ancient Egypt. I agree about the packaging but I’m excited to see where Mattel takes MH!! Amazing video!! (Sorry this was an essay haha)
Great review, and I'm looking forward to part 2. I have no nostalgia for the originals because I am older and did not collect then. From that perspective, I think Mattel has handled this reboot pretty well. They still have the Haunt Couture and Creeproductions for original fans, although I think some people were left unable to get the first Creeproductions. The new dolls are definitely more appealing to children, and the accessories add play value. Although I prefer the overall more mature and darker aesthetic of G1, I like the body diversity of G3, and the fact that each character seems even more distinct. So far, Cleo, Draculaura, and Frankie have my interest. I assume these will cost $40 each in Canada since the Creeproductions did, so I definitely can't collect them all.
I LOVE my collection of original Monster High. I bought no dolls of the G2. These signature dolls of the G3 look like something I want, they are designed well, and I relate to them in a positive association with my originals as opposed to how I felt about G2.
I was never a fan of monster high but the original dolls was so much better than the 2016 and this year's release the only saving grace for this year's dolls are articulation
The articulation makes a huge difference! As I said in my final thoughts, I really wasn’t vibing with Gen 2 but these dolls give me much more hope in possibilities of what’s to come. Thanks for watching! -Max
I'm a huge fan of the increased body diversity (and diversity in general! Finding out Frankie is nonbinary was incredibly exciting). The new dolls look super cute and I love all of their styles, although some of the designs need a little more time to grow on me.

What is the difference between the Creeproductions and the Gen 3 dolls? Why did they make two types? I understand making collector versions, but the sculpt and bodies are entirely different. Are they both Mattel?
Both are Mattel's toys, however the main difference are the Generations. The Creeproductions are dolls reproduced in the image of Generation 1 dolls which were released in 2010s if im correct. Which is over 12 years now. The Generation 3 are dolls are the new generation of dolls, I think they're made to get new wave of younger audiences and such. There are two types on going right now, mostly the Creeproductions (wave 1) to cater to the older generation of fans and doll collectors. The Sculpt between generations have changed now. While on the Creeproductions they have Generation 1 bodies, which is all more or less the same for all characters. The sculpt for Generation 3 have a different bodies, featuring more diverse body types and have been said to be more sturdier than the previous generation. I think this more or less answers your question...
I’m really loving the representation! These dolls are clearly for kids and it’s very much catered towards them. I asked my little cousins what they liked more and they all chose gen 3 over gen 1. There lovely dolls and you can very much collect them but it’s definitely more for playing with. (Hen’s the lack of stand since you don’t play with that)
so heres my review, my REVIEW might change irl!! :) so i honestly give frankie a 9/10 i love them so much, but their skin reminds me of toothpaste. but really cute design i love the leg!! so this is a really unpopular opinion but clawdeen is honestly 8/10, I love her outfit but her hair type and her glasses throw stuff off. Now cleo is a 10/10, I love her face and everything, didnt like how they made her hair like neferas tho
I wanted to add that even though these are reboot dolls I like how they sort of reference the G1 dolls in certain ways, as far as clothing. I guess Lagoona’s food has a cartoon picture of her G1 pet. I saw that in another video. I liked Draculsura’s Transylvanian accent in the previous shows but that’s gone and so is Lagoona’s Australian accent. Draculaura is also a witch but she tries to hide it because even though it’s Monster High witches are not allowed.
I feel like most people are happy with this reboot because we haven’t had Monster high for years and I think G2 might have been the same if it weren’t released right after/ while G1
I have been very vocal in my stance to have cautious optimism as this gen finds its footing and while I definitely have some things I might edit or change - mainly clawdeen's hair type and maybe eye size/screening? - I can definitely see that G3 is much more thoughtfully designed than g2 and clearly care has been put into making it distinct. The bottom line is that nothing will ever beat nostalgia for some people and I have a true fondness for g1 but so far I definitely feel g3 is heading in the right direction and that we need to keep letting it breathe because quality is mostly here and as more dolls have been uncovered I have found myself liking it more and more. G3 needs to be seen as its own entity and I think once people start being more objective and letting it be so they'll be able to decide for themselves - as well as internalize it not being their taste =/= it being bad. The thing that mainly sticks out to me is the general lack of black as an underlayer or backdrop? There's been a lot of talk about how MH g3 isn't alternative enough but every gen has had brightness and consistent color character use. With the last two tho I think what changed is that g1 used black to offset brighter colors and garments and add a little grunge - as it were - that while this one especially has turned up the colors for everyone. Another thing I noticed is declaring it one way or another when.....it's barely launched at all. We have 2 music videos, a slow trickle of dolls and the movie yet to be released coming up but the cartoon series and the dolls themselves have yet to really be launched properly. There could also be a discussion about marketing an older nostalgic brand and who the aim to capture with it is? Especially with this vs. say the bratz repros, trying to infuse new life into older properties vs. reproducing already beloved classics. Every time an older property is retooled in any way I do notice a similar kind of resistance based on any thing changing from 'before' and it automatically being labeled bad in a way that clouds the whole project before it can even launch that ultimately dissipates and wins itself new fans and perhaps some older ones too. This is definitely happening to MH right now. I can get feeling protective of things we loved but if we've changed and grown with time we should recognize that everything else has too lest it be left behind. We've grown up - and often out of the targeted demo - and maybe it's not that media changing is bad so much that it being different makes us acknowledge that we aren't being catered to anymore. Where will MH be in a year? No clue but I think it definitely has a fighting chance and I hope it gets to flourish.
G3 🤔 clawdeen is a hard no, draculaura is cute 🥰 frankie- love the leg, not love the face and hair colour, lagoona is a pink disgrace, cleo - love the face, body shape and hair, no to clothes and especially clunky shoes. Deuce actually looks great 😊👏

Thanks for your review! I have the G3 dolls ( except Toralei) and I am keeping them in their boxes. I was unaware of all the other details I couldn't see. My favorite is Cleo, she always looks stunning, I'm hoping Mattel releases a taller version of her in the future. My least favorite is Frankie. I find her head shape and no neck look rather odd plus she has no expression on her face. Other than that I like the new body types. I hope to find Toralei soon and then I'll be caught up.
I got Cleo and cannot for the life of me get her coat / jacket on without fear of it ripping,. I think that was really the only thing they could have done a bit better

I avoided the live action because the idea was aggravating in my opinion. But I watched it and I enjoyed it. I don’t get to go to Walmart that often but every time I went there was no monster high. Today I went and they had the coffin bean set and Cleo, Clawdeen and Lagoona. But these were the dolls they released after the g1 rerelease dolls. I wanted to get some of those but never saw them. I picked Cleo, because I like her new pet a lot and I do enjoy the Egyptian themed patterns. I’m just not a fan of her hair color or length but I like her the most of what I saw. I would have preferred Draculaura but I guess she was sold out.
I've vintage Barbie repo collector that has branched out and moved over to other doll lines only in the last year. I am aware of the previous generation dolls, mostly due to the packaging and how amazing it was. Because my doll collecting is fairly new, I can look at all 3 generations very objectively. I was lucky enough to get a Boo-riginal Frankie (favorite doll of the OG line, though shout out to Cawdeen in the cartoon)...and I can't wait to put the New G3 one next to her. I like the new doll bodies, and looking at the competition, MGA products etc. The Kate Moss look is finally out. I like the outfits and quality from what's been shared online. Frankie, Cleo are my must haves, the others I will wait and see on other designs down the line, plus again..... Barbie collector and space. I will defend the 'no stand' based upon quality of clothes and accessories VS Price. I will not defend the Barbie Extra Style Packaging. I spent 20 plus min making sure I would have a pristine box to put as backdrop when opening my Frankie Boo-riginal. I will NOT be spending that time on these. I venture to guess the new packaging is both cheaper AND more durable. The best part personally for me.., and this is just me.., is I was big into the blue isle, like 10 years ago. Masterpiece Transformers, Matty Collector He-man, NECA movie figures. This all was usually I.T. money, and the fans did NOT hold back. "That's NOT my He-Man" or "Hasbro ruined Joe again, those mother........" So leaving all that and walking over to the pink isle, which I'm having way more fun at, I can't help but see all the back and forth and think, hmmmm I'm getting some popcorn, for this is a movie I have seen before. Guy's I you were not the first with this review, however it was by for the most in depth about the product and pieces. The review first I'm all here for. Thank you.
I really have problems to get used to the new designs. Some are kinda pretty. I like Clawdeen and Toralei. In generel I like the less skinny design. On the other hand the G3 dolls are more human like and more friendly designed, more for kids, then for collectors in my opinnion. They also have more diversity. Which is fine for everyone who likes it! Personally I disliky Clawdeen with glasses or a non binary Frankie. I find die Frankie even ugly with the thick very forward positioned head. I kinda miss die more edgy, more goth style old dolls and I think the monster high will have troubles copeting against other brands like rainbow high. Still I am happy for the new generation and probably will get at least my 2-3 favorit dolls. Also I hope for more monster high dolls, so everyone can find some dolls he/she likes. Monster high is an awesome brand!
I am loving them all but I agree that the hair choice for Clawdeen needs improvement. Her hair in the Spirit Ghouls pack is horrible and fizzy straight out of the box.
I hope Mattel hears this and make that change. Her hair is almost unacceptable. Mine had fried, burn marks in it. Don’t even know how that happened. -Sang

As a Canadian, we always get less info on our boxes because we get the international packaging. There will likely be more info in the US
