I trust every word Sal and Eric say, so honest and humble, I have so much respect for them, I truly believe it's not entirely about the money to them...
Man it never ceases to amaze me how passionate Eric and sal are about the knives they make and that along with there excellent designs and functioning tools are why spyderco is my favorite and most highly preferred brand of knife. Whenever somebody asks me what knife should they buy I always answer, you can't go wrong with a spyderco. They have something for everybody and none of its junk.
Love watching Sal and Eric talk about there knives. The passion really bleeds through to any conversation. I didn't plan on being a Spyderco fanboy either; but I started noticing that a Spidey found its way into my pocket more often than not. The spydy hole is so damned practical with gloves.
Thank you Sal and Eric, for all you've done over the last few decades.. The world would be a poorer place without you guys.. All the best from over the pond in England,,, (ps.. UKPK 's rock )...
Tall Hobbit Design! As soon as I got the Delica 4 in my hand and had time to study it, I was blown away with the consideration given to every single aspect of that knife. It was all downhill from there. Just bought silly numbers of Spydecos after that.
Tell me about it. Avoided them for so long because I thought they were ugly. Really goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover, once you get one in your hand and use it, you don't care what it looks like
Well done both of YOU. I have been a fan since your first POLICE model in Stainless. Times gone by, and times are moving forward. NOW I carry the Manix 2 in CPM S110V in a pretty BLUE color that matches my daily bike shorts and ride along the Pacific Ocean in Oceanside & Carlsbad, CA... Dang IT I love your Sharpmakers. I still have your 42 degree 203 ish... and LOVE the 204 clamped down with both hands moving slowly... I use the 203 to finish up...
I freaking love Spyderco products they make knifes to be used (working tools) I always have one on me ( 16 total in my collection and growing) I love that no matter what you are going to do that day they have a knife that will handle that job. (And living in New York that's saying something as or knife laws are very draconian). So thanks Sal & Eric for making products that have improved my daily life.)
@JOSE E PEREZ Cool agree, Bro, I've been in love with syderco knives since 1980, I've got 45 or so, they are the best, as a use cutting tool, which you can rely on 100%. They are beautiful. but the 2nd place is cold steel they focus more on self defense, also I'm a fan of 1980, they are not beautiful, but! You can also rely 100% on this if your life is in danger..
From the edge out . Eric and the team are doing a good job 👏 with that 15v and BBB . I haven’t tried it yet but seen how long it goes on cut tests . Yeah man , staying true to that bladesteel and heat treat is a good idea since we usually mod the 💩 out of these knives . I almost have a dozen or so
glad to hear from eric that they're siding more with customers who disassemble and customize their knives. just traded my native 5 for a centofante. always wanted to try out a cento, and never was a big fan of the washer-less native. never got over the grittiness of that native.
Looking at this I went "They're saying Spyderco INVENTED the pocket clip? Hah, no way. Fat chance" Took a look at wikipedia. Turns out they're right. Sal invented it in the 80s.
Wow. What a great couple of guys running the company. I have to go track down that comment I made somewhere about how they're not listening to us. They are, its implementation is just a little slower on account of the size of the business. (try not to keep jacking up the prices faster than costs are increasing though, OK? ;) )
@@edcko10 I do have a Chaparral npw (Sun and Moon). Love the leaf-shaped blade and man does that thing cut. Since it is a little small, I'm looking at getting a Manix 2 next. I just still can't stand the bird-skull look on most of them and the leaf shape is much nicer.
I bought a Ti-Military and sold it. To me, the screws (hardware) size chosen was wayyyy too miniature for a hard use-high end knife. The Military line should have way burlier screws in the handle!
Spyderco does some nice experimenting with steels, but their prices for the materials used are way too high. Price increases this year are totally unjustified. Shaman is popular? Raise the price 22%. Look what you get for $240 from Spyderco vs. what $240 gets you from ZT. No contest.
MrGeerbear Honestly anything in Spyderco's lineup that is more expensive than the Sage line usually isn't worth the price. The PM2 is pretty hard to beat at $130 or so though.
I don't know if you would like it but there is a version of the Manix 2 in S110V with G10 scales with skeletonized steel liners for about $150 which basically fixes all the problems you have with the one you are looking at. Obviously it isn't in Maxamet but S110V is nothing to scoff at.
Used to love Spyderco but they continually drive up the price and this most recent price increase took it too far. The value just isn't there for me anymore. It's funny to me Sal had the nerve to say, "it's not all about making money." I really like a lot of their knives; hopefully they make it back to reasonable prices.
Price points got me looking else where. I like the way they experiment with different steel but I'm not a fan of the limited run with some of there models with blade steel and handle color or materials.
All the knives look the same, have boring design with that thumb hole and hump of the edge, less of the models are good are look different without that hump and with small hole.I can't rgue about the steel they use, it's perfect and they user different powder steels that are strong.
Hi, Knife Nut: We've had extensive discussions on pricing since announcing changes last year. We actually didn't increase pricing on a majority of our products. We did implement a change in our MAP policy and that's where the price change is seen. We also removed several items from our MAP policy. The digital landscape is vast and it's just not feasible to hold these complex discussions on every platform but we would encourage you to visit our forum (on our website) and read through the discussions. We have a wealth of information available for anyone interested. We will always do business in a fair and proper way and we strive to be as transparent as possible. We hope to see you on our forum and we wish you all the best!
If you cant afford it dont buy it. The whole point of a business is to make money..its not greed..and its not spydercos problem you cant afford a knife . Kershaw has knives for 19 bucks at walmart that might be more your speed.
Yeah, I can't believe that a relatively small company like Spyderco can compete with larger high end knife companies but they have to raise their prices a little! That's just ridiculous! They should just take a loss in profits so you can have your knife for $15 less! How selfish of them!
I trust every word Sal and Eric say, so honest and humble, I have so much respect for them, I truly believe it's not entirely about the money to them...
I respect and believe both of them
Agreed. You can’t execute at the level of Spydeco without love/obsession for the product.
No one man has done more for the folding knife than Sal Glesser. The man is a living legend.
Great knives. Sal and Eric make me want to keep enlarging my Spydercos collection... Thanks Sal and Eric!!
Best knife company out there by a mile
Man it never ceases to amaze me how passionate Eric and sal are about the knives they make and that along with there excellent designs and functioning tools are why spyderco is my favorite and most highly preferred brand of knife. Omg!! Eric is all grown up! Great to see them doing well.
Never thought I’d be a Spyderco fanboy, but they’re addicting. Now I hardly buy anything else
Same here friend :)
Spyderco
Cold Steel
Zero Tolerance
Lionsteel
Same
Tall Hobbit Design! As soon as I got the Delica 4 in my hand and had time to study it, I was blown away with the consideration given to every single aspect of that knife. It was all downhill from there. Just bought silly numbers of Spydecos after that.
Same.
Spyderco and Victorinox only
Tell me about it. Avoided them for so long because I thought they were ugly. Really goes to show you can't judge a book by its cover, once you get one in your hand and use it, you don't care what it looks like
I ❤️Spyderco
What a cool guys. Just ordered a Manix lw and ended up here. Now i am extra happy that I bought a knife made by such great people. 👍🏼
Best knife company in the world. No contest.
Love everything Spyderco!
I know it's an interview from years ago but I love it!!
My son and I met Eric last year at the Blade Show in Atlanta he is an excellent guy.
For my 8th wedding anniversary my wife baught me a PM2 in M4. I asked her why and she said that I carry Spyderco's more than any other knife.
That's a good wife. Can't wait to hear what you get for your tenth year anniversary
Привет. На 11-тую годовщину подарок был?
The knowledge this man has....very interesting listening to him.
@5:25 The spyderco team has most definitely kept this promise. The amount of aftermarket support is amazing.

Just awsome guys
Huge Fan!

They seem like nice guys. I enjoy their knives, especially the para3 and paramilitary .
Favourite company. If you can get your customer service up to par with KAI or Benchamde you're Golden. (No pun intended)
Love Spyderco. Manix and shaman my 2 favorite
Want a Chief, hope they make a Spyderedge version.
I own many Spyderco’s and I live an hour north of Golden, what could be better
Spiderco is so Badass
I love the signet rings
Too cool!
Would love to see a Spyderco OTF. More states, such as my state of Tennessee have lifted the band on autos.
Best folding knives ever. 😀
My favorite brand ✌️
Great interview!!!
Great video, thanks.

I never could get a good edge on a knife before I discovered the triangle sharpener. May not be for everyone but I swear by it.
glad to hear from eric that they're siding more with customers who disassemble and customize their knives.
just traded my native 5 for a centofante. always wanted to try out a cento, and never was a big fan of the washer-less native. never got over the grittiness of that native.
I live in Morrison, CO., a stone's throw from Golden, so it's instinct to select Spyderco.
1:24 I own the Delica version of that!
Looking at this I went "They're saying Spyderco INVENTED the pocket clip? Hah, no way. Fat chance"
Took a look at wikipedia. Turns out they're right. Sal invented it in the 80s.
Вот это я понимаю династия.
Отличная работа, ребята! 🤝

I have alot of knifes bit for my work knife . I carry spiderco for work . You get a great knife at a price that well not make you scared to get dirty.
When you purchase a Spyderco, your looking to purchase another.
All I want... is an aqua salt. H1 is so cool
The salt line is very cool! LC200N is the way to go though. It's rust resistant like H1 and with great edge retention like s30v.
Thanks gentlemen,,,I have lots of your products♌🔛
Classy guys
I don't have a Spyderco yet. Still trying to get over the "bird-head" design on most of the blades. Kinda like the looks of the Sliverax, though.
Hope you got one in your hands by now and realized how badass they are
@@edcko10 I do have a Chaparral npw (Sun and Moon). Love the leaf-shaped blade and man does that thing cut. Since it is a little small, I'm looking at getting a Manix 2 next. I just still can't stand the bird-skull look on most of them and the leaf shape is much nicer.
very☺ nice

Spyderco warranty blows it for me.i love spyderco but jeses is that something they need to work on
They need to make deep carry clips for there knives.
So sell us replacement blades
I love spyderco products but the 22% increase in price was a bitch move.
Eric watches nick shabazz. Lol knife life
I just wish they weren’t sold out of everything.
I only buy spyderco knives
Handsome squared

Love all of my my Spyderco knives. A great American successful entrepreneur company that works. Capitalism works every time it is allowed.
Used to love Spyderco but they continually drive up the price and this most recent price increase took it too far. The value just isn't there for me anymore. It's funny to me Sal had the nerve to say, "it's not all about making money." I really like a lot of their knives; hopefully they make it back to reasonable prices.
Try to shape the American public to embrace the brick and mortar stores. If you can do that, it will bring dividends and a stronger customer base.
Price points got me looking else where. I like the way they experiment with different steel but I'm not a fan of the limited run with some of there models with blade steel and handle color or materials.
I wonder if they’ve ever tried to sharpen one of the plastic models just from shits and giggles
Love your stuff but stop drilling holes in the fixed blades lol.
Hey I love my lanyard hole lol.
All the knives look the same, have boring design with that thumb hole
and hump of the edge, less of the models are good are look different without
that hump and with small hole.I can't rgue about the steel they use, it's perfect and

Spyderco has lost touch with their customer base. They have lost me as a loyal customer, due to the recent price increase.

Ask them about the enormous price increase they just had. That's the explanation I want. Spyderco greed plain and simple.
If you cant afford it dont buy it. The whole point of a business is to make money..its not greed..and its not spydercos problem you cant afford a knife . Kershaw has knives for 19 bucks at walmart that might be more your speed.

Eric would be a nobody without Daddy
