- This week its another engine installation removing an oil starved ford for a nice new Beta 43 how many times will the Fabulous Jane stall the forklift ? #fordxld #armada #canalboat #rueandjane #
I liked the observation regarding oil drip catchment under the engine/gearbox❤ Most harbour marinas also have a rule that auto bilge pumps are switched off in marinas to prevent a failed fuel line/spillage eventually ending up in the harbour
The enthusiasm shown is remarkable.
Any difficulties overcome without stress .
Proper engineering.
Thank you for your kind words & for watching
A like for like engine swop is work enough but swapping to a different make is a whole different task.
Amazing how you achieved engine alignment with no silly chopping and changing.
Used to be a forklift driver before retiring and couldn't see a problem with it being used to change the engines.
Just like an engine hoist they both use hydraulics but the forklift is just much easier for manoeuvring the engine into position and would probably have a greater lifting capacity.
Fair play flt driver is top notch . Watched a few vids now and every time perfect lift . I have been in engineering for 30yrs plus. Obviously a well practiced lift method which works out very well. Bonus with no lift frame you have no transition lift when going from frame to fork. Get point about single fork lift not best practise as it bends forks but still within swl's
just as a heads up chap. mdf does a waterproof version . i have had a piece in a water drum for two years pulled it out dried it off over night machine it next day.....but it comes at a price....
Great vlog on channel keep up the great vlog s your do on channel
Just a comment on the shackles... Yours did look like unbranded ones which I would be suspicious about. I always use Crosby shackles - they are a well-known manufacturer of lifting equipment. I feel the same as you about the ends - they seem small and you wonder if they are up to the job. That's one of the reasons why I use the recognised make - you know they are tested and certified for lifting their rated load.
Another great job. 👍
Thank you & for watching
@RueJaneArmada My mum enjoys watching too. Will call in for a catch up some time in the Spring.
Still doing great work. Keep going.
Thanks Garry 👍
Can you please advise what is the maximum lift weight of your crane ?
hi we lift boat up to 62ft in length and 21 tons
What happens to the old engines ?
We sell them for parts on eBay! Helps pay for the tea & biscuits
Gloves and hat for welding will make or break a weld. Make sure no one took your good helmet with the five finger discount. 😊
I know the boat, we were both moored in Rugby during the second lockdown, but for the love of me I cannot remember the owners name.
Shame owner didn't give the engine bay a good cost of paint
Unfortunately it’s just above freezing here in the uk and pretty much impossible to prep and paint a steel hull in water due to condensation .
Thanks for watching
Why didn’t you paint that bare metal
Condensation is a big problem the temperature has been around freezing with the boat being in the water its out of our control and will have to be addressed in the spring .
thanks for watching
I think you should be wearing safety glasses when cutting with grinding wheel? No?
I thought I was !
No it is not all in hand! This is the attitude that causes injuries. Unprofessional. I would never trust work to guys that are a danger to themselves and others
Didn’t you make this point already my friend?
A forklift is defenitely not designed for hoisting like this. Unsafe.
True it’s probably not in the forklift owners manual of how to use a forklift along with not drinking the battery acid .
Thanks for watching and your input 👍
Why didn’t you clean the rust from the engine bay and repaint it? I can’t stand when someone doesn’t do the work properly. You should have taken a little extra time to it right!!
It winter here in the uk temperatures just above freezing condensation is a big problem on the steel as the boat is in the water and the customer didn’t want that doing . We are more than happy to repaint engine bays when the conditions are right. I think you should take a little bit more time when commenting as I think you missed out the word “do” 🤣
@ So sorry! I didn’t mean to criticize! I didn’t take the weather into account. Obviously, you couldn’t have painted it in those conditions. I do enjoy your channel.
@RueJaneArmada Well said!
thank you for your kind words and for watching 👍
