I tried the Multi Enduro, XCA, 1290 and standard GS and for me the 1290 was the best hands down. Easy to trickle around or blast like a lunatic. The Triumph felt weedy and the handling was poor (heavy), the Multi's gear shift was really clunky and it seemed less powerful than the 2013 model. The GS was good to redline but that arrived too soon meaning it needs much more shifting and was missing top end pull when you wanted to have some real fun. The 2017 1290 SA S should be a hoot.
My choice came down to the GSA and Strada Enduro. I bought the Duc and couldn't be happier. It truly is a Swiss army knife of a motorcycle. The DVT is amazing.
I have demoed all of these bikes plus the 2016 Ducati Multistrada S, BMW XR1000, Honda (Africa Twin) CRF1000L and Aprllia Caponord Rally over the summer 2016. All great bikes , but I found the big Ducati Multistrada Enduro the best (it's always going to be subjective) for me. If your not sure which one you want then go try them out and see what floats your boat as all great bikes!!
Yeah, Bike Social says a lot - delivered. Four guys speaking to what they experience and prefer. I like! Same challenge for me, which of the two: GSA or Multi Enduro.
I just got to watch this awesome videos, it is a fair review, I believe it is the best review out there compering the correct models. Please reunite your pals and do it off-road. Once again great video/review
Great vid guy's. It's the first time I have watched you. Just a comment about not needing a "300 mile range". Maybe in the UK and Europe it may not be needed but I live in Aus and often in outback areas fuel stops can be 250 plus miles apart. BMW sell a lot of GSA's in this part of the world. Looking for ward to seeing more of your stuff.
Nice and refreshing when the media is actually prepared to make a call at the end, I am so tired of watching reviews/comparisons where they say they can't choose as they are all great, if that's the case don't waste our time just say so at the beginning.
I agree with your choice but most punters are swung by the BMW reliability and customer service. A friend of mine has had problems with his education and is regretting his purchase.
Love the Ducati Multi Enduro, but unfortunately the customer service sucks(at least here in Mexico). BMW seems to be the market leader in after sale service.
Triumph updates for 2016 are good, with the WP suspension etc and other updates, but it just doesn't feel enough, I think they're ready for a new platform now to move the model forward.
Now let's see 300 miles off-road. I own a LC GSA and can't imagine owning anything else. That being said I understand the love for the Ducati on road but my money would be on the KTM and BMW in regards to Swiss Amy capabilities.
Great review on all 4 Bikes. Always a point to consider is the after service from the Dealership? You will find that BMW service is second to none...............and that is the true test !
I really don’t like scaffolding for all the luggage and the fact the right side bags have to be mishapen because of the exhaust drives me crazy. The Versys 1k is one of the only bikes I can think of where the exhaust doesn’t bother the side bag, sure might be inferior to all of these for most people but I would go it because of that.
great video mate I had 1200 GS Adventure 2012 model, loved it. planning to buy a new bike, I'm torn between the Ducati and the BMW. any thoughts? thanks
Kanan Al-Ghalib there won't be as many Ducatis on the road as BMWs but the new GS has a few upgrades so why not try them both back-to-back. Cheers M.Mann
...great clip Mark, though how do the KTM and Ducati compare in the real world with chain drive versus the BMW and Triumph shaft?; if I had a few days or brand new bike to ride around, I doubt I'd be any different, though for long term, those two (KTM/Ducati) really aren't options surely?...
You'd be surprised. I was hesitant on the Ducati for a long time purchase. But if you go on the forums or Facebook's group page, it's all talk about tires and pictures of pretty mountains in the background. Nobody in the year I've owned the multi has ever come up with a problem on the page. And I look every day. Though they did have a problem with the gas gauge, but they replace it at no cost. I had a klr and a versys and those pages are filled with problems... And I bought a 6 year warranty, so I'm good lol
Crazy as this review is 3yr old and now pricing these models are priced in such a way u can get a leftover triumph the cheapest , the multi is actually is next cheapest even demo unit with 500 miles and the bmw is still very expensive used. The deals are demo or left over duc as u can walk away with a left over with warranty .
I own a multi enduro and every bmw /ducati dealer I’ve had it serviced at told me I made the wrong choice. It’s been in the shop for the last 4plus months I’ve only been able to ride it for 2 weeks in the last 4 months . Should have gotten the bmw
K EE it’s now been having issues since August 2019 I’ve only been able to ride it about 20 days since August 2019 when they had to rebuild the engine and I’ve met other people who had the same engine but in other models and they had to be rebuilt or replaced. I would definitely not recommend ducati even though the yamaha tenere is boring I’ve met a few people with over 100,000 and even 200,000 miles on them
That sucks bro…. If it makes you feel better my 2019 Africa Twin Adventure Sports spent months and months in the shop. I bought it brand new, and the motor still knocks, so I’m going to do what I should have done from the very beginning… Within the month I am selling the twin and purchasing a GS 1200/1250. I’m tired of going through all of the bikes attempting to do what the GS does. It’s sort of pointless. I should have just started out with the GS instead of going through bike after bike trying to find an alternative. There is no alternative.
I don't know why you guys are riding adventure bikes. You never go off road! I tried all but the Triumph as there is no support where I am riding here in Kazakhstan. The other bikes I have had here are the Honda CRF 450X and Yamaha Teneré both were great for what they were designed for but I needed something that would work at altitudes up to 15,000 ft off road and with two up and luggage. I finally settled on the KTM Super Adventure and am very pleased with my choice so far. The stock tyres will be replaced with Continental TKC80. I had these on the Teneré and they worked well on and off road. The luggage is Bumot, being shipped from Bulgaria. Much stronger than most of the competition and I am sure a lot more stable than the KTM luggage. I rode through Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on the Teneré and anyone who says 30l fuel tank is too much has never run out of fuel at 11,000 ft in the middle of Tajikistan where there are no petrol stations outside the cities. My only gripe so far is the crap saddle that will have to go before the next long ride.
Typical bike journalist bollocks , no one mentions the £600 servicing for bmw,s and im guessing the ducati is more and more frequent , must be nice to get free bikes .
1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw in its design, the motorcycle has a major safety problem. I bought mine six month ago and since day one I have been experiencing head wobble at speed ranging from 100 to 120 mph. I contacted the dealer and they said “there is a software upgrade regarding the head wobble” I took the motorcycle to the dealer, after the software upgrade I discovered that the four setting for the damping is not working any more there is not difference in the performance between sports, street, comfort or off-road 1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw in its design, the motorcycle has a major safety problem. Because the problem was in SOME 2015 motorcycles. The 2016 does not have this problem. You said everywhere that "1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw". No, 2016 bikes have not any safety flaw and only some 2015 came with this problem.

shirey414 How is the Duc Enduro so far ? Did you experience any reliability issues ?
shirey414 seating comfort long distance on your Ducati? Two up seating comfort?

I am smiling at the freudian spellchecker slip - Ducati/Education! Hope he has learned his lesson.....(boom-boom)!
Love the Ducati Multi Enduro, but unfortunately the customer service sucks(at least here in Mexico). BMW seems to be the market leader in after sale service.
Great report and filming .
where can we find a comparison between the Multistrada Enduro and KTM adventure R?
Triumph updates for 2016 are good, with the WP suspension etc and other updates, but it just doesn't feel enough, I think they're ready for a new platform now to move the model forward.
I have the new explorer and it is comfy and pretty quick.. love the camera shots by the way :D
great video, wish it was longer, will you have a detailed article on your website later?
Hi Fahad,
Glad you enjoyed it. Our full review can be found here: bit.ly/BIGadv
Amazing camera work
Where is the Super Tenere ES?
Now let's see 300 miles off-road. I own a LC GSA and can't imagine owning anything else. That being said I understand the love for the Ducati on road but my money would be on the KTM and BMW in regards to Swiss Amy capabilities.
probably a completely different motorcycle, but what do you guys think about the yamaha 1200 super tenere?
It’s not completely different, although it is way under-powered and it has 2008 tech
Great review on all 4 Bikes. Always a point to consider is the after service from the Dealership? You will find that BMW service is second to none...............and that is the true test !
Great video ... due low vibration... best suspension ... Confort .. gs all the way
I really don’t like scaffolding for all the luggage and the fact the right side bags have to be mishapen because of the exhaust drives me crazy. Isn't it. I thought the 650 and 1000 shared the same cases. One side is smaller than the other inside
That video reminds me very much of the 1000PS channel, especially with the music at the beginning. ;)
Great video. Whats the soundtrack?
Michael mann's jacket, could yo tell me brand ?
Hi - the jacket is the Richa TG2. There is a matching set of trousers that zip together with the jacket.
great video mate

There is no better handling adventure bike than the multi. I can promise you that!
So which one is the biggest one?
No love for the triumph bros haha. Me and my poor baby tiger.
...great clip Mark, though how do the KTM and Ducati compare in the real world with chain drive versus the BMW and Triumph shaft?; if I had a few days or brand new bike to ride around, I doubt I'd be any different, though for long term, those two (KTM/Ducati) really aren't options surely?...

Great video! How did you take that shot at 6:05?! That was pretty sweet.
Thanks. it's my favourite shot and tough in the rain. but can't reveal all my secrets! :)
Fair enough ;) I'll keep a close eye on future videos.
GoPro MAX 360 on another bike that he passed

Well done Guys !!
Great job well done.. 👌👍😎🎥✊
I'm sorry but BMW is always the best bike in every segment they compete
I'm sorry but...Ducati is better than Bmw!
All fair n good on the road, what about offroad or gravel at the very least!!
KTM: 222kg, 160CV, best performance off road. Is the GS1200A pregnant? It's a truck!
Reviewing adventure bikes without taking them off road is pointless.
Bla Bla not really. I’m in the market for an adventure bike and have no intention of taking it off road.
They're really sports tourers.
I would choose the ducati. Specially enduro you don't see that often
I own a multi enduro and every bmw /ducati dealer I’ve had it serviced at told me I made the wrong choice. It’s been in the shop for the last 4plus months I’ve only been able to ride it for 2 weeks in the last 4 months . Should have gotten the bmw

@@mxg709 Sorry to hear that man. Appreciate the valuable info. See you on the road!

Wearing full leathers riding the adv bikes, you are totally missing the point.
NICE VIDEO THINKS BENNETTS BIKE
Эх! Перевод бы!
Двое за BMW и двое за Мультик. В том числе последний, который имеет и то и другое.
Wow ! All journalists pretty worn out before riding back home !
it's kind of funny how the Honda Crosstour X never gets invited on these multi shootouts.

All nice bikes but i think the Ducati takes to be honest i love all bikes
Ducati & KTM =EXTRA!
Great video .. amazing bikes .. we know GS all the way ..
BMW and that funky wide sideways engine... I just can't do it...
great review
ha ha I meant reliability but somehow the word education slotted in.
Confused .com , it won't let me type the name of the Italian bike but changes it to education which is what I need more of ha ha.
R1200 GS 2010
Triumph guten!
BMW R1200GS 2010
😍😘BMW GSA 1200😘😍❤
I’d love to hear the raw engine sounds instead of hideous ‘music’.
can't beat a Gs
Unfortunately my legs are so long they practically sit on the cylinder heads and get hot. So the Multistrada tips the scale for me.
Well !! You all got it wrong !!
Why not Ducati multistrada Vs BMW s1000xr? Because BMW s1000xr much better
no off road..!#
REPET MORE THAN 20 .....
I can't get past how ugly the BMW is
such beta 'males'. wow. 'i dont want 160 hp i want usability'. how bout just use some of the throttle.....

1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw in its design, the motorcycle has a major safety problem.
I bought mine six month ago and since day one I have been experiencing head wobble at speed ranging from 100 to 120 mph.
I contacted the dealer and they said “there is a software upgrade regarding the head wobble”
I took the motorcycle to the dealer, after the software upgrade I discovered that the four setting for the damping is not working any more there is not difference in the performance between sports, street, comfort or off-road

I read this comment on several videos. Not true.
Mariano. you said it's not true.
please explain why is that. because I have the prove that it is true.
Because the problem was in SOME 2015 motorcycles. The 2016 does not have this problem. You said everywhere that "1290 Super Adventure has a safety flaw". No, 2016 bikes have not any safety flaw and only some 2015 came with this problem.
If KTM have a little pride towards there products they should recall this model before any fatality. 1290 super adventure is a death machine.
You will find the death driving at 120mph with a KTM or a Honda. KTM 1290 is probably the safest motorcycle out there.
