  • Real Review | Why We Bought The Horizon T101 Treadmill Over Treadmills from Amazon. Yup, we wanted to get a treadmill and we had a budget. I had no idea how expensive treadmills were, especially for one that had all the features that we wanted. Plus a treadmill that we wouldn't regret buying. Our budget was around the $700 mark (Canadian) so we went on the hunt. Like a lot of people, we started first on Amazon as we really had no idea where to look. Plus some of the sites that we did look at had treadmills that were way out of our budget. Luckily my wife actually stumbled upon an article that talked about the top 5 treadmills on the market as of now and the Horizon T101 was one that was within our budget. So we decided to give it a look. Especially putting it up against treadmills on Amazon that were at a similar price. We hope that this video helps those that are looking at getting a treadmill. We are very pleased with our purchase.

    Thank you so much. You're literally the first person everywhere (youtube, reddit etc.) that actually mentions a long treadmill. I'm about 6'2 210lbs and I ordered a treadmill off amazon and didn't even pay attention to the length of it, and once I've used it it was very short and I would feel like I would fall while running. I ended up selling it, and now I was looking everywhere and I couldn't find a good length and I came across this video! So thank you!!

    We have a Nordictrack that was purchased from Sears (when they were still around), a number of years ago for around $800.00. Love it and use it every day. The only issue is finding parts. I purchased a replacement drive belt and it took some time to find a supplier.
    That's a nice looking treadmill with a lot of features. Have fun with it!

    We just purchased the horizon t101. Hubby is just finishing the set up. Very pleased I chose this model. I went into local sports store and tried it out to be sure I could handle a treadmill with my osteoarthritis knees that can’t take walking on rough ground, concrete nor gravel for very long. I was amazed testing out T101 after walking for several minutes the pain disappeared and I could keep walking.
    100% recommend the horizon T101 for walking. Especially if you have joint problems.

    Thanks Great video. Very timely for me. I was looking at Amazon Canada vs Horizon doing same compare. I was wondering if the weight (almost 2x amazon) was a big negative. Looks like it is an issue but worth the tradeoff. One question - does the speed increment in decimals or only whole numbers eg can you go from 3 to 3.4 or 3.8 or do you have to go from 3 to 4 directly and nothing in between?.

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  3 роки тому +4

      yeah the big numbers are for being able to jump to a speed quickly. But there is a + and - for going up or down by .1 Im definitely loving this treadmill. Very pleased with our purchase. But it is heavy.

    That’s a nice one. I was looking for a more compact treadmill to walk on because it’s so HOT in Florida I can’t stand to be outside too long. I wanted one that fits under the bed but like you I didn’t want it to be too small. I settled for one with a 16.5 running area, 47.2 in length and a 2.5 motor on Amazon. It looks like an older model by Urevo. It’s not as cute and colorful as the newer ones. It’s allow steel, grey and black. The reviews were really good and I did not see any that mentioned anything breaking down like some of the many others I looked at. Foldable safe handrail, Time, Speed, Distance and Calories Monitor, APPs Support with Bluetooth, 265lbs (I’m 135-140) weight capacity, 2.5HP Brushless Motor, Less than 25dB, Longer service life (2 yrs.) The bonus, when I was looking at it, there was a message saying it would be going on sale in 4 hours. Of course I waited and it went from $250 to $199. The original price was $369.99. I just ordered it and I’ll get it on July 31st. I’m excited! Great review.

    Loved your review! So glad you're happy with your purchase. This is definitely not a running treadmill though. The motor and belt are not equipped for such use. Running requires a belt at least 55cm wide x 140cm long. For people 6 foot or over they require a longer belt. The motor for walking should be at least 2CHP, but running requires at least 3CHP. CHP is continuous horsepower. Many cheaper treadmills just say HP, not CHP. HP is the peak strain it will take for a short period of time (if sustained it can damage the treadmill motor). CHP is continuous, meaning that is the output power that it can sustain for extended periods of time and regular use. The roller on that looks absolutely pitiful. Larger rollers mean more durability and reduced motor and belt wear. They should be at least 3 inches but preferably 4 inch minimum. I believe the specs on that said they were not even 2 inches. The treadmill is also pretty loud, but most folding ones will be (and some non folding). For higher end the motor is more quiet but foot impact is commonly *bang bang bang*. It's not about the user's weight or size, but the materials and design of the treadmill.
    Not knocking your purchase at all. I'm just putting this here for someone who wants to be able to run on their treadmill so they will know what to look for. Running will probably cost a lot more, but will be more durable and really, treadmills are expensive so you'd want them to last for years. Pretty impressed with the reasonable warranty on this one (another thing to look out for).

    Thanks for sharing your review! I was wondering, is it loud in the room or rooms below where you are using it? I rent the upper floor of my parents' house, and they go to bed early so I really need something that I can use at night that won't wake them up. It's an older house so we have some squeaky floors as well. Thanks again!

    • @gregtoope
      @gregtoope  3 роки тому +4

      the treadmill itself isnt loud as ours is in our bedroom on the upper floor above the living room. My wife says that she doesnt hear the treadmill running, but she does hear my feet hitting the treadmill. But i am a heavier guy. So my guess would be it all depends on how heavy you are and how soft you walk/run.

    I’m was leaning towards getting the T202 model with its slightly more powerful motor and longer track. But I do like the T101’s display better and it’s $300 CDN less expensive.
    But then I bought a smart watch, and discovered that I’m currently doing 12-14,000 steps a day at work, frequently more. So getting a treadmill got pushed WAY down on my list of things to buy.

      True. When I’m running around the shop I can easily do 10,000+ steps in a day (I did over 18,000 last Thursday). But when I spend the day working on my laptop instead my step count drops to only a few thousand. And the same goes for the weekends - only a few thousand per day there. So I’m still planning on buying the T202, it’s just dropped down on my list of priorities since I learned how much running around I’m already doing.

    From everything I've gathered about these treadmills, the motor is one of the quietest, the
    running deck is ample size and the display is clear and functional. The downside is the
    under powered motor (2.25 continuous HP), durability (lack of) and poor customer service.
    I was deciding between this and Nordic Track 6.5 S as they're similarly priced but the latter
    one wins because it has a bigger motor (2.75 CHP) , bigger rollers and a better reputation
    for durability and better customer service. A low powered motor running on higher load
    will seriously degrade it's lifespan.

Just look at their Facebook comments- it’s filled with people desperate to reach customer service because of their brand new broken treadmills. I lived within their stated service range but they couldn’t get a tech to me so I had a $700 brick. They told me three times they would refund me, it wasn’t until the third request they actually processed the refund.
    I spoke with a local repair guy and he said they’re so low quality they won’t buy them to resell in his store. I would never recommend buying from horizon
