- On the eve of valentine's day, my heart suddenly stopped, and I died for a full five minutes. I'm only here today, to share the full story of what happened because my partner, my lover and my hero performed life-saving CPR that brought me back to life.
Two weeks ago, I came home from the gym, as I do every day. I was feeling a little off but nothing major.
I cooked some lunch, a couple of steaks and salad. My partner's friend was there and joked "that's a heart attack on a plate" when she'd seen the two steaks I was about to BBQ. Oblivious to what was about to follow.
BTW the steaks had nothing to do with my cardiac arrest before all you vegans get excited and tell us "soy saves lives".
I just thought it was funny she made that comment shortly before I died of essentially, a heart attack.
After I ate, I went to lay down for a bit and asked my partner Rhonda to wake me at three o'clock so I can go to work. My cameraman was meeting me in a Melbourne suburb for my next story.
The next thing I knew is I woke up in the hospital with tubes running out of my mouth and a catheter full of urine.
I know most people want to see if I'm okay, which I am, I'm on the mend. The truth is, Rhonda is one that lived through the scariness of what happened, not me. In this video, she's going to share it with us all.
For obvious reasons, I've hid her face.

sulijoo nah gym is fine I would say these pre work outs are downright dangerous. It’s like have 10 shots of coffee in row in one hit. Who knows what standards the manufacturer adheres to. Avi could of just had a bad batch. Pure and simple these supplements are not needed.

I'm 57 and exercise strenuously since my teens with no problems, but I NEVER touch those "Pre-Workout" supplements. They're unnecessary AND just plain bad news, just like those "Energy Drinks" like Monster and Red Bull. Healthy teenagers and people in their twenties have died suddenly after drinking that crap.

I want to buy a defibrillator, but they cost a grand.

You need to know the ratio of breath : compressions, positioning of the head/neck to open airways, what to do in the case it's a child/infant vs. adult, position of the hands on the chest, speed of compressions, and some CPR and F.Aid/CPR courses show you how to use a defib. It's more complicated than you think and the TV is the worst possible teacher on something that could save someone's life.
@@zagorith14 once I gave a guy the Heimlich manoeuvre and saved his life and the only reason I knew how was from watching tv. Also I took a few cpr courses I remember very little of the details you mentioned. I know it's not that simple but when push comes to shove you'll either freeze or you will do what you think is right at the time.

@L C I have an electrical issue which gives me an irregular heartbeat. I was told by a heart specialist my heart is very good and in my particular instance have nothing to worry about. I hope he wasn't holding anything back.

@@GodEndByBlood I'm in New Zealand. It's not apart of our schooling but one of our teachers is also a paramedic and she decided to teach us about it last year. I'm at the end of my schooling but I'm glad shes doing it. It's especially important that people know it because the most likely time you use it will be on a family member or friend. We've also got the defibrillators all around my town of 5000 people. Definitely something that everybody should learn.
@@UltimateRichard In NZ we have a programme called "mates and dates" and it's something we do in year 9 and 10 health. They didnt have information about that when I did it in 2017 but now I've heard they're teaching about that sort of stuff which is messed up.

My younger brother died of a heart attack when he was only 37 years old. He was getting ready for work when he collapsed on the kitchen floor. He was not as fortunate as you because his wife was still in bed and did not realise my brother had collapsed. He died at home on the kitchen floor aged 37. Your story brought tears to my eyes. You are very lucky to have a hero by your side. Take care of each other.

My husband is a juvenile onset type 1 diabetic. Over our decades together I've saved his life at least a half-a-dozen times one of which he was in cardiac arrest. The first time was absolutely terrifying and rocked my world, turned it upside down for a minute. I'm only sharing this in-case your lady needs to talk with somebody that's gone through this.
I know me too. One more minute and we wouldnt have him anymore. We need him.

This reminds me when I had to do CPR on my father, unfortunately my dad didn’t make it.
I phoned emergency to ask them to talk me through on how to do CPR, don’t have time to think about anything just the person that’s dying.

Glad you're ok. If your working out intensively nearly everyday and on a very low carb low sodium diet this could have been caused by low magnesium levels. Heart attacks are much more common in athletes then people think and low magnesium is often a contributing factor.
@i. rob potassium and magnesium are both intricately tied too low in either can be detrimental. Intense exercise greatly depletes these two minerals and if you're on a low carb diet and exercising every day it can deplete both.

I had a heart attack at the cardiologist surgery. Funny thing was i was having a stress test i was 2 mins in and she said he is starting to flatline. The ambos are amazing people.

Glad you're on the mend my friend. I can't imagine being in that situation. My older brother had to perform CPR on my mom 10 years ago. Unfortunately she never revived but I know she's in a better place. I really should get CPR certified

Go hard and crack their ribs. 100 bpm to 'the beegees-staying alive' give rescue breaths often by plugging their nose tilting head back and blowing just until you see the chest start to rise.

This video made me cry, cause this happened to my 13 year old daughter, she died in my arms, she is ok now but everything from the noise that was coming out of you to the CPR to the hospital, this affected me so much, took the ambulance 3 hours to stabilise her. This affected me so much cause for the next 3 to 4 months i would stay awake while she slept so i made sure she was breathing and when she wakes up in the morning i would go to sleep.

Avi, I'm so glad you're ok! My Mum died in her sleep suddenly on the 22nd April last year. Her forensic examination showed that her heart was structurally fine with no blockages either. She was 62 years old. I miss her every single moment of the day. She was my best friend.

RIP to your Mum and best wishes to yourself. My mum died at 47 in 2005, I was 22 and I have never really grieved as they call it, still kills me to the day at 36.
