He was born into a broken family, hardly a few years old when his mother left his family and his father ended up in jail for a long time. With no other relative to take care of Marcelito Pomoy while he was below 5 years old, he ended up joining his father inside the jail. After sometime being inside the jail cell living with other genuine criminals and his father, a police guard was moved by his plight that he took Marcelito Pomoy to live in his home with his own family. He studied in kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in grade school in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so at a very young age of about 8 years old left the only home he knew and walked the streets of Manila, Philippines, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the streets while searching for his mother he never really knew. All that time he learned to humm and sing himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it, excluding any criminal activities which he never did. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. It was while Marcelito Pomoy was in his teens while cleaning inside massively large chicken pens in chicken farms that he discovered he could sing both male and female voices. His very first audiences were those clucking, egg laying chickens... we will never know whether Marcelito encouraged those hens to lay more eggs while being serenaded !!! He honed his skills further and sometime in his early 20's he was urged by his circle of friends to join a nationwide TV network singing competition in Manila. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. He got a record deal with the recording studio arm of the same TV network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just barely touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his UA-cam videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost all songs in so many different languages with the help of a vocal coach but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in manila, he bought a beautiful home and got married to his girlfriend and they have a child now to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He has returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer is Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli and the prayer is one of his favorite songs. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he did with Celine Dion etc. He never had a voice coach back then because he could not afford one before he joined a Philippine singing contest.
I hope I had shed some life on Marcelito Pomoy so you'll understand better why maybe you'd notice some slight imperfections in the way he emulates other singers' songs.
In one of the interviews Marcelito Pomoy was asked in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, the media wanted to know what was the meaning of the gesture he did pretending to cough at the end of doing a recording of the emotionally filled beautiful song THE PRAYER, he jokingly said he wanted to bring out the woman in him but did not expand any further ... maybe he wanted Celine Dion to come out perhaps ????
I'm Mr. Briones, from the Philippines, too, like Marcelito is, but I've migrated to Australia living in the beautiful city of Sydney. God Bless us all.

Kritz, Marcelito takes this song to yet another level in the release of his album, "Duet Yourself". Since it is a tracked recording, he includes all of the harmonies where Bocelli and Dion sing together in harmony. It is quite beautiful with Marcelito singing the lead (Bocelli) in tenor/baritone and the alto harmony (Dion) in countertenor. This song also includes a marvelous background orchestra. Here is the link to the audio: ua-cam.com/video/ULwa6eLtufY/v-deo.html
Here is a partial list of other covers by Marcelito:
Celine Dion's "The Power of Love" (His best female imitation in my opinion)
Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On"
Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", "I Have Nothing", "One Moment in Time"
    Loren Allread's "Never Enough"
    Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean"
Celine Dion/Peabo Bryson's "Beauty and the Beast"
    Kenny Loggins "Forever"
Mariah Carey's "Hero" and "Oh Holy Night"
Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love"
    Beyonce's "Listen"
    Steelheart's "She's Gone"
    Ed Sheeran's "Perfect"
Miley Cyrus' "When I Look At You"
Luther Vandross "Dance With My Father"
    Diana Ross/Lionel Richie's "Endless Love"
Sarah Brightman/Andrea Bocelli's "Time To Say Goodbye" (He sings in Italian)
Teresa Teng "The Moon Represents My Heart" (He sings in Chinese)
IL Divo/ Celine Dion's "I Believe In You" (He sings in French and imitates 4 different voices)
Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" (He sings in Spanish)
Finally, Marcelito sings numerous Filipino songs in his native language, Tagalog.

I love the way you react, so true and real. May I also refer you to two other video's that I think will surprise you. One is from this years Britain's Got Talent. It is the audition of an 8 year old called ISSY SIMPSON. Her audition had the audience stunned, the judges baffled and Simon Cowell calling her a witch. The other is also English. a 16 year old(nearly 17) called CONNIE TALBOT. She is a brilliant singer/songwriter. At Christmas her long time teacher and mentor passed away. His death devastated Connie and she has written a very special and emotional song as a tribute. It is called GOOD TO ME. She filmed it in black & white to reflect her heartbreak. I am a 71 year old guy but it had me crying.

This is an updated life story of Marcelito Pomoy.
"To give you a background on the life of Marcelito Pomoy.... he was born in the Philippines into a broken family, his mother left the family when he was still at a very tender age of about 2 years old and his father ended up in jail. With no relatives wanting to help, Marcelito had no other choice but to join his father and stay inside the jail for a long time. Eventually one of the prison guards took him home and provided his needs while his dad had to continue serving his prison sentence. He studied kindergarten through to his 3rd grade in grade school in a local public school. He was neglected in that family so he left the only home he ever knew and walked the streets of Manila in search of his mother whom he really never knew, often going for days hungry, doing whatever odd jobs he can do to be able to buy a piece of bread or scraps of food he could find on the street dumps. He learned to humm and sing himself to sleep. He did so much variety of odd jobs like being a helper in construction sites, mixing cement manually with gravel and water and carrying it to the guys needing to build hollow blocks with cement, etc., selling boiled duck eggs which is a popular delicacy called "Balot" upto the wee hours of dawn, peddling ice cream to earn a few cents, he did fixing the pinballs up in bowling lanes daily, earning about $1 USD so he has food to eat then sleep on street curbs for several years, any job an under 12 year old kid could do Marcelito had done it. In my opinion God was guiding him all these years because he never thought of committing crimes just to be able to survive but work was plentiful for his tender age and he suffered tremendously to be able to eat daily but with Gods' Guiding Hand he made it in life. He would hang around clubs and restaurants and watch in amazement at the talent of the singers' performing while he watched from outside the door. He started singing himself and follow the way he sees the singers sing and thru the years he kept on imitating any singer he could watch on other people's TV singing. He was a no read no write kid having left his 3rd year public grade school education to fend for himself and survived all those years. He worked cleaning chicken pens in huge chicken farms and sang to the chickens while cleaning their pens and it was while singing to his audience of egg laying chickens that he discovered he could sing both a male and female voice when he was about 18 years old. We will never know if the hens produced more eggs while Marcelito was serenading them !!!
He honed his skills on his own without any vocal coach to teach him because he couldn't afford to hire one then and after gaining confidence in singing other artists songs copying exactly the singers breathing pattern, diction, way of delivering their songs, etc, joined a Philippines TV network conducting a singing competition in Manila. He passed the audition and went on to the semi finals and grand finals.. He won the competition hands down despite so many excellent competitors. His monetary prize was such a huge amount to him that he never imagined he would be able to own in his lifetime as a grade 3 school educated adult. He signed a record contract with the recording studio arm of the same TV network and the rest is now history. His SUFFERINGS in life I just barely touched on the surface.... You won't be able to watch his UA-cam videos about his life story coming from Marcelito Pomoy because he is not comfortable talking in conversational American English. He can sing almost any song in so many different languages with the help of a vocal coach but talk to him in English, interview him in English and he would need a translator to assist him. He is very rich now in terms of an average Filipino earning a decent living in Manila, he bought a decent home with his earnings from the singing contest and is one of the most sought after performer in the Philippines with concerts in Canada, Dubai, Spain and so many other countries. He married his girlfriend in the Catholic Church and now they have a child to enrich their married blissful life as a family. He was able to reunite his mother, father and siblings but they each have different families now. Marcelito has returned to school to be more confident in his life but it's still a very long way to go for him. He does an excellent job of emulating the diction, way of delivering of the singers he hears and watches. His favorite singer's are Celine Dion and Andre Bocelli and the PRAYER is his favorite song that he said launched his successful singing career. He first listens to each song he wants to sing, following their pronunciation, breathing patterns, etc until he's able to follow them like he did with Celine Dions songs, etc. He also jokingly said in the song THE PRAYER at the very end of the clip where he acted as if he coughed... he wanted to bring out the woman that's in him but did not elaborate any further ... and I would rather not speculate myself !!!!
He is soft spoken and always a happy person to hangout with and decent but really funny jokes are so natural in him albeit often only in the Tagalog or Filipino language.
The one thing that amazes me is that despite the millions of pesos (the Philippines currency ) he earns each year ... he remains as humble as a child and he has not allowed the riches of the world to go thru his head unlike so many people who changed their character when they became wealthy. Only Jesus Christ and Blessed Mother Mary can give Marcelito Pomoy a humble heart with all the success he and his family are now basking in... !!! He also is a natural born comedian, plenty of punchlines albeit mostly in Tagalog, the common dialect in the Philippines but he can imitate the voices of popular local and international personalities and if you close your eyes you'd think the person Marcelito is emulating is present before you.
I hope I have shed some light on Marcelito Pomoy. Let's not forget he still is in his grade school level education but he's getting there. I'm Mr. Briones, from the Philippines, too, like Marcelito is, but I've migrated to Australia living in the beautiful city of Sydney. I'm sorry if I've stepped on the toes of one of your viewers talking about his life story. I wanted to explain further in detail Marcelito Pomoys' life story. God Bless us all.
