I never thought I'd see MO on here! Andy Hull's voice is simply amazing
Unique for sure!
Right? They are the last band I've ever expected to see in a reaction video. What's your favorite song of theirs? Mine has got to be I can barely breathe, or where have you been. I can't decide.
I agree! I was scrolling, stopped & had to go back to c if I saw that right. Then immediately clicked on it. I have certain songs(5) tht I hav to start my day off with & this is 1 of them. Over 2 yrs now, everyday & I look as forward to it today as I did day 2. Great reaction!
“The last track is called ‘The Silence.’ This song is one of the songs I wrote - popped out of bed at one in the morning - it felt like I kinda had to get this thing down, and really, it’s a prayer to God. It’s God talking to me, God talking to my daughter, and then ultimately at the end, the finale is me praying over my daughter.“
Yeah, the context gives a lot of meaning, though still a bit open to interpretation. Basically, to me it reads like, "I'm lost and suffering, why aren't you showing me the way, why can't you just fix me" and God basically saying "Everyone can see you're suffering. Anybody can have a bad background, but you were the one who chose the same path." Then finally an apology to his daughter to say, "I'm sorry I could be passing on this bad background, but I'm going to try to be better so that you can be better." At least, that is my interpretation.
Amen Brother!
Being a father to an identical situation of your interpretation that’s very powerful stuff and I love that music can connect us all like this.
These comments on this thread is why I love music. Everyone of us has so much to learn from each other if we just open up to each other.
Beautiful song, great reaction and thank you all for being you.
Hope everyone is having a great day. God bless you all
Best song ever ❤❤❤❤
@@karenlawhorn1974its just a quote.
"Little girl, you're cursed by my ancestry" -- he's speaking to his daughter -- many other songs about his daughter
Orchestra is strings. Symphony is strings, woodwinds, and percussions. Manchester Orchestra is awesome.
The song is to his daughter. His father was not a good father to him and he sees parts of his father in him. He wants to not pass down that Curse by his Ancestry on to her. So when he said there is nothing you keep there is only your reflection he sees and knows that he doesn't want to be the same father to her that he had. It is a very poetic song for sure.
I think I've read that the first part is about him and his relationship to god and the second part is about his daughter
Orchestras are the musicians, symphonies are the music they play.
This is really wonderful. Thank you to the person who recommended it, and thank you Black Pegasus for reacting to it. 💛
i found this song when my mom was losing her battle to cancer. the last few weeks I had left with her, I was listening to this as a relief from my normal metal/hard rock so I will always hold this song dear to me
I also found this just after my Mum had passed, it really soothed my soul and helped get me process what we had all gone through. It’s such a poignant song and I’ll love it forever. It makes me feel like I have a kindred spirit knowing that it helped you through your mums illness. Much love to you. 🖤
❤
So sorry for cancer's ugly destruction in your family. I lost my father just after my 21st birthday in the late 80s. And, coincidentally, I saw it right before my Mom was diagnosed with Lung cancer and, subsequently, myeloma ultimately passing away. Prayers.
@@spellcaster7893❤❤ my mom was just diagnosed when I first Heard this one! Such a sad and strange similarity for several of us. Love and light tonyou from above.
@@MommaOsoIrish67 thank you ❤️
Who ever recommended this to you gets my vote… love love love them 🫶🏻🖤🫶🏻
Oh my God, I’ve been waiting for this song to be recognized forever. This is like one of the greatest songs that I’ve heard in forever. I try to share it and there are some people out there who are aware of it, but it doesn’t get anywhere near the recognition it should.
Manchester...my home. The birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. Top reaction BP
WoW. Hadn’t heard this before. Giving off R. E. M. like qualities. Great tune.
I got that vibe too
This is a band you just have to put an album on and let it ride. There’s stories all over. One of the best bands live
This instantly gets my like... In my opinion this is one of the best and strongest songs ever!
Manchester Orchestra has some absolute masterpieces! Where have you been? And I can barely breathe are on my forever playlist fo sho! 🎶🤘
Yo welcome to the MO family. Incredibly talented, and vastly underrated.
Yo, manchester orchestra is actually sick. Such great music.
This whole album is gorgeous. Highly recommend. His voice is stunning.
agree. Black Mile to the Surface is one of the best albums ever, from start to finish it is simply beautiful.
This song is stunning... It's written, performed and produced sublimely.
He has an effortlessly powerful voice and the tone and intent he sings with near brings you to tears.
The whole album it's from is just spectacular, you have to get it and listen to it. It's called The Million Masks of God.
Their album, A Black Mile To The Surface, is one of those where all the songs are great!
Andy Hull is good friends with Paris Jackson ( Michael Jackson's daughter) they wrote n sing the song "Eyelids"...Absolutely luv the song 😊
Such a beautiful song. BP, you have a daughter so this should resonate with you deeply. Glad you discovered these guys.
A Black Mile to The Surface is one of my Favorite Albums of all time! Highly recommend listening to these 3 songs back to back on the album: The Alien, The Sunshine and The Grocery! These 3 Songs are something special! ❤️🤘🏼
This is such a beautiful song. My friend introduced it to me about a year and a half ago...i listened to it repeatedly on the way home whilst cycling in the rain but embracing the droplets on my face. Feels.
Love me some Manchester Orchestra - Andy Hull is one of the finest singer/songwriters out there right now. They have a way of getting in your feels. I can imagine the lyrics hitting home to you BP to an extent.
Little girl you are cursed by my ancestry
There is nothing but darkness and agony
I can not only see, but you stopped me from blinking
Let me watch you as close as a memory
Let me hold you above all the misery
Let me open my eyes and be glad that I got here
That passage right there as he speaks to his daughter still gives me chills even now.
They have a huge back catalog of music - would be fantastic to hear more on here.
I love when people discover gems like this band. Check out their songs "The Maze" and "The Alien."
Also check out Amigo the Devil. Start with Hell and You
About fucking time. i have been ensorcelled by this song since the first time it showed up in my life. he may not have the best voice in music but it's still one ofmy favorites
I disagree about his voice. Is it the most polished? No. Does it have the most range? No. His voice is absolutely perfect for the music and it evokes so much emotion. There is also something beautiful about imperfection.
One of the most underated bands out there!
Manchester obnoxiously underrated. The catalog of songs Andy, and often Robert, has put out between multiple bands/projects is overwhelmingly amazing.
this song - so glad you checked this out!
So happy to see you react to this. One of the best live bands I’ve ever seen… such an amazing and underrated band.
My first introduction to this group as well... Goosebumps..hauntingly beautiful..thank you
Wow!
Never heard this before!
What a great song!
Thank you for introducing me to it!
❤❤❤
Its his story and a conversation at the same time with some deep thoughts and reflection. Its literal poetry. Youll feel it different every year you listen to it.
So surprised but happy you reviewed this song. I've always felt it's so underrated and deserves way more recognition than it's received.
Andy Hull's vocals are absolutely torturred and hauntingly beautiful ob this! A painful reflection on his father who wasn't a good father, then a projected fear he'll pass rhat Curse to his daughter, abd an introspection to find hisvabulity to be a better father than his own.
Loved that you did this one!! Is one of my favorite songs!!
Keep the good mixture of music going please!!
Love it, cheers from Berlin 👍🍀😎
Andy has been making masterful music for coming up on 2 decades now. I remember seeing them open for a band called Brand New in 2005 and was my first exposure of them, and I've been a massive fan since. Great pick!
You should listen to The Gold, also by Manchester Orchestra. His voice is just haunting
Thanks for the thumbs up on that
"There is nothing you keep, there's only a reflection." 😔😔
I found these guys 6 months ago and they are amazing. None of the big reactors have reacted to anything until now.
OMFreakingG
Surprise song of the year on this channel. For some reason it took ME till last year for a friend to turn me on to this. I never get tired of it.
Honestly, i can't be sure, but i MAY have requested it here, some time ago.
This song was allegedly written to/for his (Andy Hull-- singer) daughter. At first I thought it was written to a significant other, turns out it's like God speaking to him...but the last verses/bridge make it clear enough that he is now speaking to his daughter ("little girl, you are cursed by my ancestry...").
“I feel like I’m listening to a MOVIE!” Is EXACTLY the way this album makes you feel
These songs pley with your emotions, can see the pain on his face 😮
Wow! Glad you found your way to this band. They are hugely underrated. I went through a phase in my twenties where I listened to a lot this type of music. Just to clarify an orchestra doesn’t have to be a symphony. Traditionally it includes strings, wind instruments, percussion, etc. The term is used loosely by some more modern type bands that sort of portray that huge orchestral sound with more modern type instruments.
Never heard this band or song. Thanks for the intro!
Love that you covered this one. I've been enjoying your Ren reactions for months now, and couldn't imagine that you'd react to this particular track. It's beautiful and haunting. Cheers!
You can go DEEP deep into this band - shake it out, the way, pride, dinosaur, everything to nothing… on and on… and stick to live shows bc they add something extra that makes the song come alive.
Nice. I think I asked for this a while ago but did not think you would get to it. I am glad you liked it too ! Thank you for giving it a listen.
Glad to see u do this song. They are a kind of obscure band but I really like their sound. I discovered them myself sometime back. They have several other really good songs.i think you will like How to speak.
1st time listen also. Thanks Black Pegasus..gotta tap at minute in,
LOVE this song and this band!! Dig deeper, they are amazing!! Thank you so much for reacting to it!! ❤
Love this song, one of our favorites in our house. Other bands/groups/artists you may like: Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats (or just Nathaniel Rateliff), Gregory Allen Isakov, Amber Run, Dermot Kennedy, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Sleeping At Last. I have seen reactors react to Colter Wall and Tyler Childers, but very little to nothing about the others, and it's a shame, they are all talented and deserve to get more attention...just like this reaction will do for Manchester Orchestra.
MO are epic! Thank you for reaction.🌻🇦🇺
Loved Manchester orchestra since their first album, I only looked them up seeing the name and being a Manchester city supporter so glad I did...
So good. I only found MO a couple of years ago, and they are 🔥
Love these guys, and I'm so glad you have reacted to them and spread the Manchester Orchestra word !!
"It’s a prayer to God. It’s God talking to me, God talking to my daughter, and then ultimately at the end, the finale is me praying over my daughter." -- Andy Hull

I love this band. I've been impressed over and over ✌️💙🎵🔆
A brilliant band.....you will really love some of there songs....very deep.....great lyrics
James blunt 😢 the girl that never was❤
So glad you reacted to this beautiful song.
What a tune!! heard it bout 4 years ago . Brilliant
Poetry in motion, 💯. Love that! 🎼🤍✌️
They named themselves after the city of Manchester England which has produced a music scene they thought very cool. The Bands from that city include joy division /New order, The smiths, The stone roses, The verve, The happy Mondays, 808 state, oasis, to name but a few maybe you should checkout madchester as it's known music! 😊😊
These guys are from Atlanta. They are very good and their music always take you on a small sonic journey. FYI, a classical orchestra will play a symphony. Love this journey with you so far 🙏👍
Your face says everything about this song 🙂
Damn I like this! Thanks for introducing them to me❤
I’m hoping this was my suggestion. I was suggesting this to a few reactors.
Such a powerful song.
Absolutely made my day 😊
Ah man, this is one on my repeat playlist. I love listening to this played loud. When i need to release emotion I play this and free dance. Thanks for reacting to this BP 🙏
this song is amazing and I'm happy you did it. great video man
Love MO, love the reaction and glad you did this! I believe the first part of the song is about God then shifts to being about his daughter
Love this song!
good song lot of felling in the music then the words bring it all in love this song.
Raye performs Oscar Winning Tears with an orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. There’s a slim chance that you will see the similarity between this performance and that performance but still it’s worth trying to get you to react!
Never heard this. First reaction.
FROM THE ALBUM THE MILLION MASKS OF GOD !!!!! ENTIRE ALBUM IS GREAT FRO THE MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA..
Omg I playlisted this one. Truly like it alot
Please cover more MO. Andy Hull is very talented and his voice is so unique. The first time I heard them I was going through withdraw and the Silence started playing. I was a complete mess by the end of the song. Simple Math, Bed Head, Know how to speak, Telepath are great songs to check out.
Espetacular........😍😍😍
You been killing it. You and Knox are my go to reaction channels. Love seeing this. Use to listen to them a few years ago and fell of my radar good to rediscover. If you want another good different song to explore, recommend Wardruna - Healing Mountain. Super powerful visual also.
Great Indy band from ATL.They formed in 2004. The lyrics are deep.
I feel this song is a rejoice to a child being born and a farther feeling he is cursed by his past and the child that must inherit it!
Andy Hull the lead singer has said its about a prayer to God and God talking back
I surprised you’ve not reacted yet to: Heilung
They are a must react.
Masterpiece
sleeping at last - saturn
is a really chill vibe too
MO is amazing, they have so many great songs and are terrific live! Great reaction, hope to see more from them Cope and The Gold are great starts.
Mo, when you get time you have to listen to this album from the beginning without interruption. They mix the songs from one to another. The album is just one long song.
Their latest "film" is due out in 30 mins dude. Enjoy 🙌
I'm thinking an unrequited love pun not intended but fitting hence silence. I playlister this. It is poetic well put together piece
love it
What is uttered from the heart alone will win the heart of others to your own. ( Goethe )
Awesome
Finaly 😊 knew you'd like it .
This poetry was sent to the band and they liked it .
He hwo wrote this did that after stumble on a girl hwo ran from her father domestic tretend .
The boy helped her hide and get further away .
That is al information thats aloud. Grown ups are realy bad at helping and protecting children .
I didn't know these guys existed but wish I did because the Rock music scene in the 2000s was weak. I slept on these guys. Thanks @blackpegasusraps for turning me onto these guys. I've got some catching up to do with their catalog
Such amazing band. Every album is different but perfect.
It’s a prayer
Wow playlist
Thanks BP, never heard of these before 🙏🦉❤️🐊🤣
