Thinking about this starting from the phoenix, which is the first Human ship to utilise this warp power system (Vulcan's using a different system again which may be less efficient or more efficient but less powerful), then thinking logically the "warp core" is in reality just an antimatter-matter inter-mixer which then transfers the energy directly to the actual warp generators in the nacelles, with the coils in the nacelles being the actual warp cores from I understand.

That's exactly what the Enterprise-D's engines are, and exactly what the original Enterprise's engines _are not._ The original Enterprise mixes antimatter directly in the nacelles themselves. That reaction creates the power for warp speed, and leftover power is transfered down into the ship to power shields, weapons, etc.
That means the original Enterprise can technically work with just one warp nacelle.

Scotty tells us the first ship to be fitted with warp drive was the Bonaventure, lost on its first trip and found again by the Enterprise in the Delta Triangle, c/o The Time Trap. It's possible he was referencing the first Federation ship to be fitted. Of course, this is also the original timeline wherein Zefram Cochrane is an actual Alpha Centauran and it is not Vulcan's who made first human contact, but the K'ZIn This followed almost immediately by the Earth-Romulan War of which the Vulcans were not a part based on Spock's dialog and reactions in Balance of Terror. This notches Vulcans in at 3rd - 5th place for contact. ;) Time travel certainly creates some strange alternate realities! :D

I'm not gone really: I just haven't had much inspiration. Additionally, for reasons beyond my control, I can't make videos right now anyway.
Thank you, though. I'll definitely be keeping this message in mind and considering ideas for new videos. 😊

I have my doubts, but I always liked Classic Star Trek before the Kelvin Reboot. I don’t have faith in the old manuals for Star Trek being canon with newer Trek

Before the Kelvin reboot, there zero reason for this manual to be non canonical: the technology lore is essentially based on it.

ah the issues of a universe evolving in an awkward fashion and making older books techically outdated

Doesn't that make sense though? USS Iowa wasn't built with a nuclear reactor.

The 80's "vertical warp core" is actually a power conduit - you can see it also goes _horizontally_ all the way back to the nacelles, and it looks the same the whole way there. The vertical shaft Scotty works on simply transfers power up into the saucer hull.
The Warp Core was first introduced in _Star Trek: The Next Generation._

I don't think I ever did a video comparing TOS against TNG. I made quite a few Star Trek vs Star Wars videos.
