Personally, I saw some motivations that made no sense, and some glaring editing and story errors... but they weren't any extremely bad things, it was entertaining in some parts. I'll forget it in 48 hours, but I enjoyed it enough as an insignificant Disney+ show. But I don't have the intense hatred that many fans seem to have (and loudly declare).

It's almost shows like the Acolyte and Rings of Power were deliberately green lit by people who hate diversity. Cause it's very easy to go from saying "forced diversity is bad" to "all diversity is bad". Make no mistake, shows like the Acolyte give plenty of cover for people who have the latter view by allowing them to claim they're complaining about the former. When a diverse show is this bad it just strengthens the bigots by giving them a convenient straw man.
The only way to fix Star Wars and Lucasfilm is if George Lucas gets a battalion of lawyers and fights tooth and nail to buy his company back from Disney.
If we want Lucasfilm to be good again, we must support its return to its creator!

JJA is to blame. He pushed STAR WARS through the LOST filter and .... um, got lost. This set the tone going forward to present. No direction, no over arching story(ies), more nepotism and royalty, infinite formless CGI, no resolutions, no drama. He really messed up. The sequel trilogy needed to be approach with a master plan beyond the master plan of making money on the investment as fast as possible. The outcome --- although profitable at first --- is likely a reduction in the overall potential yield. FFS --- give the public a break, hire some serious writers, and come back to the plate many years from now. Or just stop.
The kid acting was BAD. I hate to bag on child actors because they’re rarely actually GOOD but SURELY there were better prospects than the children they picked in this series. THOUSANDS of kids would’ve done a much better job. Those girls were robotic, monotone, ran through their dialogue without a hint of inflection.
In their defense, they were still WAY more emotive than Amandla. They may have been attempting to match her wooden-ness and just couldn't quite get there.

As a black man, I am not watching something solely because it has a black lead(s). I'm not 16 years old and need to see myself on screen to feel a connection to the story. What I need to see are great characters and intelligent and timely dialogue. It's as simple as that. It is cool that they did the show, but it sucked and they should own up to it. You can't win them all and surely can't please them all. Stop hiring amateurs, stop hiring people based on their gender, and start hiring people who can turn in a quality product that stays true to the material. You can stray from it and create your own alley, but stay within the boundaries that made the property great, and you will be fine.

When have black guys not been in Star Wars or action/fantasy in general for you to have that stance in the first place? Black men are not absent in box office films for you to ever feel that way. They have frequently featured in all the genres, so that’s why you say you are not watching to find a representation of yourself since you have always been represented in various aspects in media. It’s only been black women who were absent from specific genres throughout the years of media(emphasis on action/fantasy/periodic). Movies these days have been low quality all around the board even when they stick to normalized racial templates. People pick and choose when to whine about things and what context to put them in. Alien Romulus was trash for example and it was due to the producer not the race of the characters. The acting was bad and the story was boring. There was a black guy in it, but there always has been in that franchise. I think if a black woman was in it, though, people would have called it “woke” as to why it was trash. I see this pattern on social media. As for the “lesbianism”, there are so many films and series that are not downplayed for simply having so called homosexuals. If the movie is bad its beyond these concepts.

The reason Star Wars was so successful in 1977 was that it came out in a shitty decade. People were sick and tired of inflation, joblessness, the cold war, political bs, and the lingering stink of the Vietnam war. It was a simple story told well and was fun. That is it. Today there is so much dystopian crap on tv and it is boring! And with Star Wars people keep getting it wrong. It is not a deep, brooding, melancholy, morally questionable dystopia. It has to be fun, a roller coaster, humorous, bad guys that are just bad and good guys that are just good. Where people can joke around like normal people. "Aren't you a little short for a storm trooper?" "I''m Luke Skywalker I'm here to rescue you....." Can you imagine dialogue like that in any of the recent SW renditions? We need likeable characters. They do not need a complicated back story and we do not ever need to be told what that story is. It is better to let you invent the characters backstory. Stop trying to connect the dots. It is boring doing that.
