+The Yellow Peril Tks Dave. As soon as I get a curved camera support to glue on my helmet, I will make a video with proper sound. I had 1 support on the helmet I was using on my accident, and threw it away without removing the support.
Awesome machine mate. Have you owned it since 1983? I wanted one when they came out back in the early 80s, but never got round to it. As you said.... riding these with the sound of the GSX1100ex engine and the Katana engine (same?) is the ultimate adrenalin buzz. These bikes wipe the floor with today's plastic lightweights. Today's might be faster, but there's nothing on earth beats riding these 80s superbikes. I had a Honda CB900F Super Sport in 1980, and a Kawasaki GPZ1100 in 1982, I wish I'd kept them!!
My friend, thanks for your visit. Unfortunately I don't have it since new (born in 1979), first time I saw it was on a japanese hero TV show in 1987 or 1988, and remember it since then. Then I managed to buy this one from a collector in my city, who was making room in his garage. Yes, this 1100cc equipped other bikes, but they are different depending on the year. The 1100 blocks sound more or less the same up to 1992, and their roar is very distinctive. From 1993 on, when the 1100 was water cooled, including the RF900 which has a 1100 block but 937cc piston kit, they sound different. My mechanic's 1100R 1992 sounds exactly like this old GSX (original 4-2 exhaust).
Hi, Mike. You refer to this one specifically? There are not 2 of them in the same paint, totally unmodified and in immaculate condition here in Norway, so the collector I bought it from priced it accordingly. :) But these bikes don't sell easily, it has to be the right person. He was announcing it for some time. In UK you find a few on ebay going 9-10K GBP and needing restoration, which is over-the-top. These bikes are more valuable when it is just "pick and go". They are a bit difficult to price because it is a niche bike, specially when unmodified.
Hi, Saulo. Thanks for the reply. The reason I was asking is that I have a 1981, 1000 with zero miles. Never ridden. So EVERYTHING is original. The tires still have the nubs on them. I have been thinking about selling the bike and was wondering where to start. Whats your opinion? Is Ebay the place or maybe someplace else? Thank you for your time.
Mike, 1981 is the first year, so it is already valuable. 1000cc is less common than 1100, so it is also valuable. If it is a Daytona, only around 300 were made for homologation purposes, I have no idea on price, never saw one for sale and will probably never see. Never ridden?!?!?! Your buyer is a collector, you don't want any idiot having this bike. I would shit on my pants sitting on a 1981 1000cc with 0 miles. If you really want to sell it, UK or Australia/NZ have very serious classic MC shops and most collectors look for bikes there. Mine is a UK import from Classic Motorcyles (don't even know if they still exist), I have all the papers. Don't advertise on ebay, let a classic MC shop do it for you, they know the right people. If I didn't have an immense expense on house now, we would discuss business. If it is as you say, we are probably talking about a 10K+ USD unit.
I raced an 83 Katana 1100 in Australia the 80s as a heavily modified superbike, it was sleeved down to 1000cc for race regs. plus.google.com/u/0/photos/photo/115976351185382884461/6286884788718058450

Wow! It's a piece of Museum. Suzuki will give you anything for that beauty I think. Congrats!
When I first started riding on the road that was my first bike
It was this bike along with the Harley XLCR that got me into bikes.

Nice bike. Do you have any idea of it's value?

Norway.
Your camera work is so jerky than the engine's vibration.
Never liked the black engine version.
