Thanks!!!
Imagine coming up with something like that. Truly a special mind required
I'm not sure if you know, but this entire solo was improvised from Marty Friedman
@@rhileyisnear I don't think the entire solo is improvised but the ending is.
@@alicetin8267I'm sure Dave said it was all improvised after Marty heard the song. And I do believe him
It literally sounds like your bog standard metal song solo. No special mind required.
@@DM-rc4yu Let's hear you play this 'bog standard metal song solo'.
The GOAT metal solo!
Agreed!
Agreed. My favorite solo of all time
Call me crazy and/or a neanderthal, but I personally like Dave’s “Holy Wars” solo the most out of all Megadeth solos.
For me RtL of Practice What You Preach are better, still - killer solo!
@@TheNyxCabin you are crazy and a neanderthal
The legendary "Marty falls off the stairs and keeps shreding" section
Context? Link?
@@mr_kos287there's no context, that's just what the ending of the solo sounds like
@@mr_kos287 it's a joke I read somewhere
Weird when slow it sounds like ass but when played at the correct fast tempo it sounds really musical
When slow, solo's usually sound like a dying electronic toy, that batteries dying, but you still hear slow melodies from it, hahahhaha but in fast, it's a solo...
Agreed 👍
That’s music for ya buddy!
Well it’s because in the slow one he’s only focusing on the correct fingerings and the muscle memory. If he played it with the correct accenting, phrasing, and timing, and esp. if there was a backing track to hear the harmony along with it, it would still sound musical and pretty good
God I love Marty’s off the wall nonsense 😂
it was the pinnacle of western civilization
The last part left for me. Been avoiding this for awhile but now I have no excuses!
Props Mike for being able to play that...As a lifelong Megadeth fan, probably my favorite song..Saw them live several times..🤘🤘
I just can't comprehend a person who can come up with this. Oh well, I'm just a musical Morlock. Such is life.
Clean af man🤘
That shit is played at a speed that is almost humanly impossible. ART OF GUITAR should be proud of his very nice cover.
Finally someone who explained this part. I feel this is the trickiest part of the song
Wow, these tabs are crazy
It's weird that I bought this cassette when it came out, that it was my least favorite song on the album. Thanks for slowing down some of it, maybe I'll learn the solo someday. Lucretia was always my jam - the rhythm guitars and the solos
i was on my way to start a crusade against you for not liking Tornado, but you proved yourself being cultured indyvidual by liking Lucretia
Lucretia solo - "....mode" (Dorian? Locrian? Can't remember) said to me by a well-schooled jazz musician friend of mine upon hearing the solo, years ago. Sigh..
Poison was the cure and Lucretia are my favorite Megadeth songs
@@HabAnagarek I think Marty even said he can't tell you what he's doing. He said you would need to get a jazz player to explain it.
Thanks, for sharing a video
this lick has counter intuitive written all over it, finally a tab with human speed lol, thank you
Someone could have told me this part is just all of the previous solo sped up 10x and I would have believe it
Thank you, been trying to play this part by slowing down the original solo but couldn't figure out,now with this i can finally play.
Love the play through at the end. Sounds killer!
Yes. I will try that in 20 years when I can hopefully play Tornado Of Souls.
I've been playing 34 years and still can't.
I’ve been playing for 8 and I’m almost there. You can all do it!
Nice playing. I need to learn this one. Such a great solo, Marty is so good!
I never really took the time to figure out the notes, for this part but now i have zero excuses! thank you so much
Been wanting to try this solo for such a long time, it's like a personal challenge for me, I will use your tab wisely, thanks
You ROCK, Mike!!!
WHOA! thanks man!
Wow amazing 🎉
I stopped playing seriously for 2 years and came back to it and decided to start this solo because I've always dreamt of learning it. I shoudve chosen an easier solo 😂. I predict I'll be ready in 4-6 months. But if you post this whole thing I might be able to learn It faster!
Crazy to think this solo was totally improvised!
The end of the solo makes no sense but also makes sense.
Uli Roth stuff is like that too. He goes where you never would have thought it was going to go, but when he's there you are like, "That is totally where it should have gone."
that’s amazing
So clean you could eat off it!
I definitely just play whatever else when I get to that part lmao
I don't know bout y'all but I always find these diminished leads are what inspired Synyster Gates. Their fingerworks are so similar yet they have their own craft. I seriously think Marty is one of the inspirations of Syn's playing although I've never heard him say it. But I guess it's just me though
Класс! Спасибо за видео и табы!
Just curious did it take you one take to record the full speed version, or did you make a few passes and pick best one. Either way you are a phenomenal player, and I enjoy your channel, and your down to earth personality.
Took a few. Even if you feel you got it you always think you can do better.
Thanks for answering, I suspected that was the case I was just curious.
Nice
This is awesome. I need to spin some Megadeth again, it's been a while. Congrats on 872k Subscribers!
I don't think I've ever been this early to one of your videos
Thanks for showing how to play that goddamed ending! Hopefully this is gonna be the end of senseless improvisation due to not knowing how to play this part hahaha
ALRIGHT MATE
DO THAT
DO THAT
DO THAT
NICE ONE
It's probably the hardest part of the solo too cos it's just his natural quirky way of playing an improvised run. You don't have typical pattens you see in 90% of minor pentatonic based rock solos.
The fast middle part is much easier than this part
There are still patterns, they are just chromatic especially towards the end
Nice work Mike!! Been working on the Symphony solo, but it's weird time to time 😂, not quite there yet... the middle-last part is so fast, the part comes after whole step bend 14, trying to work my pinky, but can't, so I may try to work with my ring finger for 15 there, but still very fast... But also, haven't focused on the economy picking there, which I believe is required... Help us on that too :D :D.
Never mind playing it, I can’t even remember that many notes 😂
Woah
Love it. Kind of funny that sometimes you get a few haters writing shit about your playing level in other videos. Then boom.. perfectly played Tornado solo end, and all these morrons got quite quickly.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone give me crap about my playing level (at least on my own videos) but now you got me all paranoid! 🤣🤣🤣
My fingers are sore just watching this
You're tellin' me!? hehe
🎯My version when played up to speed sounds like it, but it's definitely a little different. All those notes where you go back and forth at the same fret between the E and B string I did as hammer ons and pul-offs all on the E string. But this is definitely it. Wolf Marshall would be proud.
Speaking of Wolf...stay tuned. :)
Excellent@@TheArtofGuitar
Marty is out of this world
can you break down in a longer video for this one??? :)
Yeesh
BRO İM PREPARİNG A MUSİC UNİVERSİTY WİTH THİS SONG AND İ CANT PLAYİNG THİS SHİT PART , THANK YOU SO MUCH
do you have any idea how i can play the solo without 24th fret?
Probably no one can play this properly except for Marty
The greatest guitar solo of all time. 🤘
Alan Holdsworth would like a word
This part is most difficult in this solo!!😢😢😢
I honestly don't think this part should be played verbatim, as long as you hit the highlights it's fine. Even Marty pretty much never plays it 1:1 with the recording, it's just a bit messy. I still love it don't get me wrong, and your transcription is excellent.
I agree but it's a fun challenge to try and get close.
@@TheArtofGuitar Agreed, I've tried a few times but I usually say eff it after a certain point 😂
this solo just doesnt let you go as a guitarist. Everytime you think "wow, i pretty much got it", you are still off by some margin and need another 1-10 years to get any further with it. Its like an Asymptote, always getting closer, never fully making it though.
Can you make a UA-cam shorts tutorial version
the infamous wtf lick
Are you using sound interface?
Marty's brain should be preserved for future human generations. This is Mozart, Bach level craftmanship.
So fast and smooth. Randy Roads had better feeling.
Says a lot that Marty himself never plays this bit live
I guess this videos gonna be easy to convert to UA-cam Shorts!
this was one of the three improvised solos he played for that song. How tf do you improvise this shit?
Ok then
This section makes NO sense! But sounds amazing at full speed.
Get out!!!!
Doesn't sound good slow
Proof that fast licks are not even musical!
Just kidding.
Sorry, but your right hand position is all wrong 😂
I had to simplify it a bit for consistency but that shit makes a lot of sense the way you just played it lol
